To overcome that feeling you must show off the Switch's Splatoon 2 testfire multi-player on a random table in front of seven onlookers. Good luck.Looking forward to today's test since I forgot to try out the pro controller last night. Going to give motion controls another chance with it.
Motion people: are you playing in handheld mode? My main reason for being wary of motion controls is I don't want to switch styles when I'm not on the tv and aiming in handheld mode seems like it would be a little awkward and definitely not something I'd want to do while playing in public. Maybe I'm just being weird about it.
Not worth it. Maybe don't even dignify that kind of comment with a response.
Splatting your enemy slows them down, and gets a little Ink, but that is not the primary goal for this mode.So I am definitely a newb here. The primary goal is to cover the map with your paint correct? Are you better off trying to sneak around the whole map painting? Trying to hunt the other team? What ultimately helps your team win more?

Basically there's no flanks if you can see where the enemy is moving at all times and if you nerf flanks that introduces quite a few new problems.
i will be awfully surprised if it slips may 28 the release of the first game and also the release of the second major content /summer and the squid sister amiibos
Not getting killed in the last 30 seconds will help your team out tremendously. Know when to switch strats helps quite a bit. Learn to play cautiously waiting for opponents to move past you to splat them and know when you need to clear up space for your teammates or yourself to move around in.So I am definitely a newb here. Something like that. Some weapons are more advisable to have back-up close by in contested areas (i.e. splaterscope).Nice, so sounds like the primary focus is to move quickly around the map marking as much territory as possible and if you can take someone down in the process great. How about sticking with your team? Sounds like it could be counter-productive to stick together since you can't mark as much territory, but is it beneficial since if you run into someone on the other team you're more likely to take them out?

So u logged in and played 1 gameTried it for 10 minutes, eh, this is not for me.

Will the eventual online app for phones also be a second screen for a mini map to see real time painting like in WiiU? Stuff like that I could ALMOST justify a monthly subscription for.
You can play other roles too, for example inkbrush+beacons+kraken was really nice to get behind enemy lines and just make chaos. If you can keep the enemy entertained next to their base your team is free to capture the rest of the map. But yeah, usually you just want to control the middle and maybe make a push when 45 seconds are left.Primarily you want to control the middle of each map in order to win. That naturally does involve quite a bit of sticking together. I think new players naturally go all over the place inking as much as possible but that doesn't necessarily mean the it's the likeliest way to win.
? Most households have a phone or family tablet. Most households that can afford a Switch, a luxury item, and a monthly subscription for online play as well as a basic Internet connection...Not for people without phones..
Tried it for 10 minutes, eh, this is not for me.
Thanks, now I know I'm not dreaming.Same thing here, docked mode = errors every few minutes
If it's an option, the more the merrier yes.The gamepad map was great because you only had to glance at it for half a second to see where the action was taking place and where you needed to paint. It wasn't just about interacting with the map (i.e super jumping to others) but mainly about the awareness of what's going on around you. The map in splatoon 2 is obviously worse because it doesn't have that immediacy. A mini map would solve this.

Didn't manage to get into the 4am UK session at all, and looks this 4pm UK session is the same, have now tried 17min continuously, absolutely no luck.
Their servers are nowhere near ready for launch, no way they can launch without another testfire, I mean their servers shat the bed so bad they even took down the e-Shop
Edit: wait, there is no 4pm session?! Why are their services dead then?
What vert and Senou said, maybe best summarized as it all depends. Sometimes you get an opportunity to help cover someone, sometimes you see spots they're missing and touch up, sometimes you notice there's a large unpainted area and make it your mission for the next ten seconds to get it painted. You do get the feeling that teaming up works sometimes, but most likely you'll feel you're being redundant. I've played maybe 1000 hours of this and it still plays out differently every time. Although the best players, which I'm nowhere near but maybe have felt hints of their brilliance, do a lot of planning as well, setting up for the end game, knowing when to push and retreat and hold, and just being generally more aware of what's going on using the map and icons.Nice, so sounds like the primary focus is to move quickly around the map marking as much territory as possible and if you can take someone down in the process great. You have to reboot your switch. I had the same problem last week.
Hold the power button until a message appears and click restart
I believe you can redownload stuff from your account settings on the eShop.I downloaded the JP version of the game a couple of weeks ago then I deleted it and now every time I go to the eshop page for Splatoon all I get is a disabled, grey button that says "Purchased" with no ability to redownload. Am I screwed?
Apologies if this has been answered already, but this thread is moving kinda fast : P
4. Turf and three ranked modes. We don't have any information on what splat 2 will have. How many game modes did the original have after all the updates?
The general idea for turf war is map control. Splatting enemies helps you maintain control. When you die you explode and leave a patch of the enemy ink so killing helps cover ground and more importantly it takes them out of the game for a few seconds allowing you to take more ground. For a new player it's important to figure out the balance between painting, killing, and zoning. It took most players a while before they figured it out in splatoon (the infamous noob trap aerospray). Your best bet is to head to the middle from the start and learn how to gain control. So I am definitely a newb here. The primary goal is to cover the map with your paint correct? Are you better off trying to sneak around the whole map painting? Trying to hunt the other team? What ultimately helps your team win more?
I don't know how you can think that's enough time.Tried it for 10 minutes, eh, this is not for me.
But there was a map in the first Splatoon. It was never a problem.Basically there's no flanks if you can see where the enemy is moving at all times and if you nerf flanks that introduces quite a few new problems.

Ha, thanks, that worked! So are the testfires working fine then, no server issues if you reboot?
Because it was on your hands. You had to look down and then you couldn't see what's happening on the TV at the same time. It's the same now except X button switches the view between map and gameplay on one screen.
Like only thing GamePad has over current system it that maybe it's more intuitive but even that's arguable. I bet people will get used to the system 2 uses.
The two testfires I was in worked fine. No server issues at all.
Not for people without phones..
It's one of the great things about turf war. All skill levels and play styles can enjoy it and contribute. Also, I'm a total noob to Splatpon having never owned a Wii U, but does anyone else play this game more like a painting sim than a shooter? I found myself focusing more on painting than hunting other players, it made a lovely change!
I usually don't use this argument, but it's 2017 and it should be very uncommon to not have a smartphone these days, tbh.
Well that is encouraging, maybe the launch is not that far away then - but man they do need to sort their firmware
It does feel like a bizarre argument when people pull the whole "it sucks for people without phones" thing.
I mean the sort of people who have the money for a Switch have probably got a smartphone. You can get them SO cheaply now, it's insane. Nintendo can't design an entire system around the tiny proportion of gamers who have decided, for some random reason, not to own a smartphone.
I feel like, without gyro aiming, a pro controller will be the best way to play this. I really like the joycons but I think fast, precise aiming is not going to be their forte due to the smaller sticks.

I found aiming without the gyro VERY hard last night using the joycons alone and I'm not that bad at FPS / TPS multiplayer - I usually at least get a positive KDR in any game I play on PS4 whereas I was finding it hard to even land hits on people last night with the dualies or the Splattershot, let alone get kills.
Anyone use both got an opinion?
I couldn't get along with the gyro controls and didn't want to spend the whole year period wrestling with them - I might learn them against bots / in SP or something, when the full game is out.

It's most likely an cache issue, when they changed something on the eShop. Hence rebooting the switch (clearing the cache) worked.
Yeah, that's why I don't get the hate they outsourced communication to a device most people use daily to communicate with in the first place.
