Splinter Cell Blacklist "Closer than Ever" Stealth Video

At least now it looks much better at night than what it was with Conviction. I like how the shadow chooper is going by. I wonder if your shadow will have any effect to surfaces with light and be detected by any guards.

They did? other than corner take downs? good that's in then.

I think that last video had the move body option but that was the same one where they hadn't programmed in takedowns yet, the guards apparently had blinders on blocking their peripheral vision, the dogs had no hearing capability and the level was fairly small and cramped.

Yet during E3 they had their awesome rolling over cover and headshotting 3 fools at once move programmed in.

You know what they should do ?

In Chaos Theory as Sam was moving closer to his target his animation changed and that was so badass. I would like them to reintroduce this.

I disagree. Hybrids always result in poorly designed stealth mechanics and bad level design. It's funny that you brought up Dishonored and Deus Ex (I'm assuming Human Revolution) because those are the 2 most recent and egregious offenders of sub par level and gameplay design. There's no motivation to design proper stealth when you can freeze time and destroy everyone in sight.

Actually I was talking about the first Deus Ex. They gave you all those guns and gadgets but it still felt cool to get through the game with a low body count.

Same with Dishonored. You could freeze time and destroy everything, but I think it felt equally cool to posses a fish and infiltrate a building through a sewer without anyone noticing.

I don't think stealth feels cool at all when it's the only option.

I would be happy if they showed a video with at least 7 of the following

- Whistling that's in, powered by Kinect even...
- No kills OR takedowns that's in too
- Using THERMAL GOGGLES to see through smoke if it's like Conviction you can do that with the bat visio err I mean sonar goggles, looked same here in the demo
- Hanging from a pipe while an enemy passes underneath Conviction still had it, this one probably does

They need to show gadgets and how they are actually useful and open ended levels with multiple objectives more than anything. If it's on rails like Conviction there is no point. funny that coop levels in Conviction were actually better than SP levels.

ok then, shows where their priorities are, they are listening to backlash fan feedback at least I guess.

Their way to counter the 30 minutes of action they showed in previous trailers is to show us 30 seconds of one stealth takedown?

Get serious Ubi.

And even that stealth video ended with him busting through a window into a room with 4 dudes in it. I'm not sure how they expect you to stealth out of that situation.

Edit:
DisHonored pretended it could be played as an action game up until launch, and no one seemed to care.

Really? I thought it looked pretty stealthy from everything I saw at E3.

You can play it like an action game, it will be just boring :P

I've tried. You really can't. They will send so many guys after you when alarms trip. I assume it's a monster closet because it never ended for me, and I'd just get shot to death before I could get to an alarm.

I simultaneously want to like and hate this game. I'm not against flashy new action titles, but being a big fan of Chaos Theory makes me want to scoff every time I see this game.

Yes. The game looks decent. Just doesn't have that Splinter Cell vibe. I wouldn't of been surprised if the dude had a helmet on and someone said it was the new Ghost Recon.

As for the new "sneaking" video. While its cool that they are bringing back the proximity sneaking animations....That's it? I don't understand why they just didn't wait till they had more footage to show.

That's the joke, that's all of it for the entire game.

Developers, when will they learn.

I'll buy this game out of the bargain bin when it fails miserably because YOU CAN'T FOOL GAMERS INTO THINKING YOUR GAME IS SOMETHING THAT IT ISN'T!

This will fail.

Learn your lesson Dev.

Quit perverting classic franchises.

Certainly impressive from a graphical standpoint. Can't say anything more about a 30 second gameplay clip.

Show lots of footage of shit that shouldn't be in a SC game

Then show 30 seconds of stealth.

Consider me convinced.

I admire them trying. But all media released since the E3 backlash seems incredibly desperate. I can almost imagine a penny arcade comic for it, with them going "Seriously guys, it has stealth, honestly. Please believe us."

Hopefully it's not just their marketing department that's taken notice. Having said that, being the absolute opposite of a jaded gamer these days and one who's actually loved this year of gaming to bits, it's still going to take a lot of convincing to change my mind on this game. I'm keeping my fingers crossed Spy v Merc at least isn't too dumbed down. I loved it in the second and third game.

THIS GAME TOTALLY HAS STEALTH IN IT GUYS WE SWEAR NIGHT YOU GUYS LIKE NIGHT RIGHT? CHAOS THEORY, THAT WAS A GOOD ONE.

Even our air strikes are quiet now if you hit the mute button on your TV!

I'm going to be havin nightmares that the next Hitman goes even further away from stealth for its next installment.

Edit, It looks bad with Absolution, but it can get soooooo much worse as Blacklist proves.

God, I wish they would have just stuck with their vision of the game instead of catering to unsatisfiable fans.

...But is Michael Ironside back? lol

Series should of just moved on from Sam Fisher and a name change... Why don't they do this.

Gaming is looking a lot like Comics books. People cant move on.

;P

Who the fuck are these kids.

Don't wanna ruin your fun, but this game was gonna be this way A LONG time ago.
They Didn't change shit, it's the marketing/Community manager that are promoting the game differently.

Are you saying that Blacklist will be like Chaos Theory? Or are you saying that it was going to be casual/action oriented since the beginning?
