Splinter Cell Double Agent delayed
Ubisoft has delayed the release date of the latest Sam Fisher game from the planned March launch.
Double Agent's release date is being shifted for all platforms and the game will now see a release in September 2006. The news comes in Ubisoft's latest financial results.
So why the delay? Looks like Ubisoft wants more customers for the Xbox 360 version by the time of launch and extra time to polish the game.
"In addition, the rescheduling to September 2006 of the launch of Tom Clancys Splinter Cell Double Agent is meant to release the title on all platforms simultaneously," said Ubisoft. "Including the Microsoft Xbox 360 that should have a much larger installed base by that time. This will also enable to maintain the highest quality for which Tom Clancys Splinter Cell is recognised. This rescheduling will ensure the best return from the coming release as well as from future sequels of this brand over time."
Now all versions of the game will launch simultaneously in September 2006.
