I played a lot across all three games (the furthest in Spyro 1, with me just starting Spyro 3 today and hitting 9% on that) and my god... This is fantastic. I love everything Toy's For Bob and Sanzaru (they were the ones responsible for Spyro 3 with ToB supervising production on that one) did with the games here. So much soul, personality and downright love is present on full display across all three games. And the improvements across the trilogy is nothing short of fantastic. The MUCH better camera controls and much-needed fixes to the friend characters in Spyro 3 make the actual gameplay so much better.
Compared to Crash N. Sane Trilogy, which had some Quality of Life additions like box totals and a much more forgiving box system for Crash 1, this does a lot more to make the games better overall. The designs not appealing to everyone confuses me somewhat, as while Reignited does take more liberties than N. Sane does, it's for the better overall. But that's just my opinion and I'm a huge Sonic fan, so I guess I'm a lot less picky when it comes to character designs I suppose.
And I gotta comment on this; if you are pissy about the whole retail vs digital issue.... Just get the damn game. I get it if you have shitty internet connections and what not. But if you can instal over 100GB for something like Red Dead, I think a measly 40+ GB's isn't that hard to stomach. And consider how unlike Crash, the spyro trilogy is just a ton bigger. So I get why they can't fit everything on the disk and why it got delayed to begin with. Remember, Toy's for Bob didn't even make all three games; they just made 1 and 2. Sanzaru helped out making Spyro 3 and that's by far the one that needed the most 'fixing' in my eyes.
Just glad Spyro and Crash are back and Activision actually is handling them with teams that clearly love the IP's a ton. I'm just excited about the future of both series, as I really think the remakes create a damn fine foundation for new games in each series.
