Square Producer: Any Final Fantasy VII remake "might delete things, add elements"

Sounds like a great idea.

Also, remove the world map. Just make a series of corridors that take you to the next location via cutscenes.
 
Fuck it, I say release a remake in three episodes.
I. Up to and including the death of Aeris.
II. Up to and including the bit with Cloud in the lifestream remembering what really happened.
III. Add tons of new shit to pad it out, and maybe revive Aeris for OMG moment.

Bam. Profit and happy, ecstatic fans across the world.

When you do that scene to completion and get everything, he'd just look exactly like Lightning. And then Aeris can say something like, "You look like this girl I know. She are sick."

And then people would be like OMG FF7 and FF13 ARE CONNECTEDDDDDDDD!

Didn't you hear? They can't make the same game because they feel it would be a "repeat".

But if they changed things, fans wouldn't like it.

Exactly. FF7 could do with a fresh coat of paint, a new translation, and the Materia system could do with a tune-up. Balance some of them, add the obviously missing ones (like Wind) and one or two new secret summons to reference the later games as easter eggs.

As far as I'm concerned, I think this is good news. I'd be more worried if they were afraid to touch anything. FF7 is good, yes, but it really could do with a tune-up if they're going to remake it.

Everyone would rather just keep making the same jokes over and over again.

Honestly though, the guy should stop talking about a FF7 remake. He brings up the fact "We don't have plans/we don't want to do this" every month. It's ridiculous to talk about a project you have no plans for over and over again.

The fanbase will keep asking as long as you keep bringing it up.
 
I think ff13 was their attempt at remaking ff7. Lightning/hope> cloud. Vanille>Aeris

You forgot the most important part! They need to remake the part where Cloud disappears into the lifestream... I call it Final Fantasy Tactics :P
 
If it wasn't for square being so mediocre the last few years I'd have faith the remake would be good. Now though, I know it's going to be a trainwreck, and undoubtedly Square will try and tie in those awful spin-offs into the story.

Let em do what they want to the remake though. I won't let whatever they make fuck with my fond memories of the game.

I imagine they keep making comments because reporters keep asking fucking questions about it. People are so stuck on that game and the possibility of a remake. I'm so sick of it :P

Even I don't think they would be crazy enough to resurrect Aeris although I could imagine when Sephiroth kills her, he does it by doing a wheelie with 'Jenova Motorbike'
 
Great. It wasn't enough that you suspect they might ruin it, but they go ahead and tell you they'd make some awful abomination child that need be rushed into the firepit before the locals find out you birthed it.
 
Make Lego FFVII so the silly scenes wouldn't get scrapped for a more serious (duh) remake.

Seriously, though. I'd like to explore more and more of Midgar. On motorcycle.
 
FF7 story is a hot mess. It has its moments, but on the whole, as soon as you start to think about it, realllllly think about the writing, its pretty terrible stuff. No worse than most other VG writing, but bad nonetheless. If they remake, they will re write a lot of it. The bar for gaming writing hasnt been raised a whole lot, but it has been raised a bit sense then.
 
I was one of the biggest pushers for an FFVII remake, but after (finally) playing Crisis Core... yah, don't bother Square.

You're doing both of us a favour.

It's always laughable when you see Squaresoft talking non-sense about a FF7 remake.
All the while they remake all of their other FF multiple times each...

I have see this monstrosity. It would probably finally lead to the firing of the ones responsible for the FF13 trainwreck (or not as it seems it takes a lot for Wada to actually fire someone).
 
Please make the game an A-RPG.
I don't care if Genesis is in the game.
While there is a chance that he is in the game, don't forget that he is supposed to be asleep until the end of Dirge of Cerberus. Maybe he'll just appear in a cut-scene or something.

But I want Cissnei to be there :D
 
The next step that should be taken in gaming remakes is to have companies trade old games and remake them. It would be awesome if Capcom let Epic remake an old megaman game and Epic lets Capcom remake One must Fall or Jazz JackRabbit. EA and Square could trade FF and Ultima games.
