i just noticed this: The NinjaVideo Helper is required in order to view videos on NinjaVideo.

they want you to download something else.. the fuck? why would they do that?

It seems to be a clone of stage6 made by a former user. They have salvaged components from stage6 so it looks very similar.

The problem is that its very slow to browse the site and there is not that much content up yet.

They seemed to be funded by donations as opposed to private funding.
 
ninjavideo is amazing. just watched all 3 seasons of "how i met your mother", has most new shows up within an hour of airing. and they just added freaks and geeks :D
 
I can't get ninjavideo to work. Everything I try I get an error saying the file could not be downloaded by the DivX web player. I don't have this issue anywhere else.

oh wait I am stupid. I blame orin.

yea i think the video server is down atm (which is rare), check back later.

edit: yep, i have the video helper running and i get error.

You have to download their bloatwa...their plugin.

Did the same thing. They've added a lot of shows in the las t week. They're on fire. :lol
 
Who in their right mind would go to a website offering what is basically an illegal service, and happily install some software just because they're asked to? "Sure, we're offering you services that are illegal. Just install our software, we promise it won't do anything bad. Would we lie to you?"

It's people like you who are to blame for this.

Ugh. Now I'm second guessing using NinjaVideo as well.

Yeah I didn't end up downloading it. Too shady.
 
In my search to find more information on the helper, I've discovered that NinjaVideo plans on getting rid of the helper. Not sure when it'll actually happen though.

Yeah? But what exactly IS the helper? WHO is it helping? Why don't the divx files on the site play without that applet?

From what I've read on their forum, its supposed to guard against rival sites stealing their shit and improve buffering.
 
I was a bit dubious about the ninjavideo helper, but it shows up as a service in your admin tools so I just stuck it on Manual and turn it off whenever I'm not using it. I still have no clue what it could possibly be doing though...there does seem to be a hard limit on how much you can watch in a day, so maybe it's something to do with that.

Really? Beacuse I've seen like 30 episodes of How I Met Your Mother on the same day...

the only reason you needed the program was to prevent direct linking from other sites and so they could change servers where videos were hosted more effeciently , you don't even need to download it anymore, they have a new beta helper that is within the browser (java applet)
