Star Fox 64 3DS getting dubbed in various languages

Latin american spanish isn't THAT bad. Don't know why some people are acting like it's the worst thing ever.

Sure, a lot of people are used to the original voices by now. "Do a barrel roll" just won't be the same, but... whatever. It's nice they are working on this.

I liked what I heard of both Spanish dubs. I hope the Latin American one is better and that they just chose some lame parts to show us.

I thought Fox sounded pretty spot-on.

Try the official webpage, in characters section theres more voice samples you can hear.

Latin American is not bad, but is too far from good...

At least Slippy does not have that annoying voice.

The last part "Buena Suerte" (Good Luck) does not have that impact.

And as we know that Latin American dubbings are made by 3 people (2 more than spanish, that is) I thought we would see (hear):

Fox: Gokú
Falco: Piccolo
Slippy: Young Gokú
Peppy: maybe Kaiosama
Wolf: Vegeta
Andross: Beto Velez (Homero)
That girl from the trash planet: Trunks

The voice of Goku is epic tho... I love to hear him in a lot of films!

Hahaha the latin american one sounds like it was dubbed by a team from an Univision news show. :p

Get the people from the Disney dubbing team, or the Warner Bros. group (Justice League / Batman Animated Series) to dub it.

Latin-GAF: If you never played Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu for PS2/GC, the game has the same dubbers the Batman Animated series has in Latin Spanish. Quite awesome, BTW.

It really is. Kai was automatically 100 times inferior they moment they chose someone else for Goku's voice.

Haha, yeah, I guess they feel that way recently XD

I'd have to strongly disagree there. He kinda sounds like a woman to me tbh.

Maybe it's just because of the familiarity with the US voices, but the VA in the trailer just keeps giving me the feeling of an amateur fandub =/

yes i know, but there was no furry language in starfox 64.

really? there certainly was in the PAL release... hidden deep in the options.

It was awful.

Also Peppy. The rest of the shown cast was just insipid.

Its seems from the new videos that even the original american dub has been redub but with the same voice actors.

Er... why are you saying the English soundtrack is a "redub"? I watched a few videos of the North American version, and it sounds identical to the original SF64. Is there any reason to assume it isn't simply using the original sound clips?

Obviously not, but we do seem to reuse people a lot XD

The Latin American dub is unsurprisingly horrible.

We used to have amazing voice actors. What the fuck happened?

Dubbing companies closed, networks went to South America for dubs rather than Mexico because it was cheaper, stuff like that.

Right now I think the only really good dubbing companies we got left is whatever dubs Disney and Warner =/

Good god the DB Kai dub makes me want to cry ;__;

ANDA, good old Intertrack, etc. :(

Though, I'm guessing NoA didn't do a good job researching on voice actors, or they couldn't get off their high horse.

Somebody at animeGAF sent me this a while ago regarding Dragon Ball Kai's dub. I think it might be relevant here (Spanish warning!):

oh wow, i had no idea there was an animal track in lylat wars (i live in the US and played starfox 64).

on a side note, i always though the name lylat wars was a much better choice for the series than starfox. gives more of a star wars vibe (obviously) and syncs nicely with the whole series as a whole.

Date vuelta?

Man what will they change it to?? Good luck dubbers...

I've recently been down to South America and bought some of my PS3 games for my cousins to play. Honestly I'm impressed with the thorough dubs most games are getting, even some smaller ones. We played through all of Infamous 2 and some of Brutal Legend, both pretty decently dubbed. I was most surprised by Naruto Ninja Storm 2 which had custom 3D text menus fully translated. The voices remained in english but still. It's a far cry from a gen or two ago.

Was that dubbed in Uruguay?

EDIT: Oh right Argentina. The accent is so noticeable.

Yep.

No oyes que se engushó el tomate entero y el calcetín que llevaba el hechicero en su cuesho comenzó a brishar.

Yeah, and I mean seriously, listen to the Epic Yarn dub lol

Edit. Not that I completely hate that dub, but come on, they should've looked for a more neutral spanish accent.

It's definitely a redub. I guess they didn't have the original files in an acceptable quality anymore ...
It sounds really similar to the original, but you can tell at many spots the tone has changed slightly. Script seems to be the same.

Don't have time now to find some comparison videos, will do later!

Oh god the French dub is so awful =/ Is it really that hard for publishers to find decent french voice actors? They're awful 90% of the time.

it's horrendos. can we choose the US dub in the options ?

so this is why the game was reelased much later than in japan? bad trade-off.

i can't stand spanish language in games. i guess that's the side effect of growing up in generations where no games were in spanish and everything was in english. i'm so used to games being in english that i leave everything in that language by default (the only things in spanish i have are windows, some programs and the menus in the DVD player and TV)
the only dubs i've liked was anime that aired in the 90s and i guess past of it is nostalgia. outside that, i go for the original language of anything i watch so i watch movies in english (i can't believe i missed so many awesome 80s movies' awesome lines just because i was watching the films dubbed in TV. thank god for DVD and the internet), anime in japanese with subs (because dubs are shit now), games in english (better than the alternatives), etc.

plus, many spanish translations actually make things more confusing. it is sad when i understand a game better in english because the dub is too mexican.

The same applies to people from Mexico/LA when the translation/dub is too Spaniard lol

Edit: Holy shit that LA dub is terribad.

Sure. I'm just, well, doubtful given that

1) It would require NOA/NCL to get the original voice actors back (something they didn't bother doing for Starfox Adventures, Melee, Brawl, Starfox Command...)

2) Every clip I'm hearing sounds identical to the original game.

"Neutral" Spanish is a lie, it should be called Mexican spanish. And that's why you like it better. Let's not kid ourselves.

O sea güey, como que el acento neutral no existe, ¿no crees?

(Read that in a singing tone.)

It's because they are the same voice actors, as far as I know.

Slippy sounds bad in German, but everyone else sounds pretty good, although different from the english voices. Better than I thought.
