This and WKC are pretty much the first big RPG's this gen. I am more excited for this though. Only 1 more week and vacation that week.
 
And I'd argue that Vesperia was the first big JRPG this gen, though bringing a Tales game into a SO thread is maybe asking for trouble!

In terms of production values and sales....Vesperia isn't a big one.

Vesperia isn't surely a big title production values/sales wise but notherthanless a really good game. Star Ocean 4 wil hopefully be the first big jrpg of this gen.

It's definitely much bigger than White Knight Story. Vesperia was far from a low budget RPG. :lol

White Knight Chronicles predates SO4 by a few months.

Of course, we're talking about production values and budget.

I actually wouldn't mind if their A team took a crack at IU2. It's probably an understatement to say that the first game wasn't exactly fantastic, but it was an honest-to-god treasure trove of awesome concepts and ideas that could make something great if they were executed well.
Of course, that'll never happen considering how IU did critically and commercially, not to mention that the IP is owned my Microsoft, but I really would like to see some of those ideas worked on by a team of developers competent enough to do them justice.
 
tri-Ace is a small studios, around 150 developers. I would like them to stop dividing in teams, and collaborate fully for VP3. I mean what 4 years for SO4? If they didnt started with IU and company the game would have been relased by now.

Makes me sad for Lost Odyssey when I read things like this but to each his own I guess...to me LO was a big RPG,one of the best in the genre ever as a matter of fact...

One week left,can't wait.

Lots of people hold Lost Oddysey in very high esteem, especially on GAF. Blue Dragon is excellent too. Both are AAA quality.

Tales is my fav this gen though. To say there are no good ones, you either don't own 360 or are in denial.

Can't wait to pick this up after SF4. Awesome shit this month.
 
I'm glad Amazon.ca is giving me a pretty neat price, but it has the ship date listed as March 3rd -____-

Maybe I shouldn't have ignored LO, I lost all interest to play it right around when it came out. I played the Blue Dragon demo and thought it was garbage, much like the Tales demo... it wasn't until much later that I found out the games were actually good. Publishers screwed themselves out of a sale ;/ And before people say, "why don't you get them now?" For some reason I have no desire to play a game after they've been out for some time.

it looks like amirox has other things ordered too...look at the total price compared to the price of SO4...probably shipment windows for various items as amazon gets them in stock?

You can pause. Hit the XBox button. It freezes the game. Yeah, it's not "start", but it works.

As hyped as I am for this game, I keep thinking that this date of release is no good. Why not wait till April with, like, practically no competition? (Don't kill me, please.) Killzone 2, Halo Wars. Street Fighter IV, GTA4 DLC, and RE5 are all right by it. April? Nothing.

how many people here would be willing to pay for Japanese voices + english sub's in DLC form? I would totally drop some MS points on that, odds are it wouldn't happen though - my guess is it would be a few hundred megs at least.

I probably would if it was cheap. As for the size, FIFA 09 has commentary packs that are roughly 500mb in size. Since the game has a ton of commentary I think it is pretty comparable.

I've downloaded language tracks for free, but it wasn't an RPG.
 
Any word on when reviews will hit? nothings up on Metacritic yet, haven't read any yet other than the GI review(which isn't that hot)
 
Kind of excited about this. This is the first JRPG I've wanted to try since Crisis Core (and I'm really kind of disappointed with CC).
