Guessing there are no specific dates for season 3 besides summer?

And a 2-4 weeks wait before the comic ships? Might go look at some local B&N.

Nothing has been announced, although we did get word recently that the crew have started writing for Season 4:

Almost done with season 2 now. I'm really impressed with how much the show improved, I really enjoyed season 1 but they really kicked it up a notch. The amount of world building is fantastic, the larger episode count really let them build-up various side characters like Glosseryck and Buffrog.

My favorite episodes so far would be:
Flags
Spider in a top hat
Hungry Larry
Running with Scissors. I think. The one where Marco has to earn his set of dimensional scissors.

im going through season 1 of this show right now based on critical and fan acclaim recently - not impressed yet, not the same level for me as steven universe/gravity falls/adventure time etc

willing to go through all of season 2 first though

So I say go through season 2 and if its still not hitting then stop tbh

finished season 2 today - found season 2 LEAGUES better than season 1 - I'd give season 1 a D- and season 2 a solid B imo

definitely in for s3!

i really didnt get much from the love triangle they were building tho - a lot of emphasis is placed on this in s2. i found the lore/mythology way more intriguing

If you like the show's burgeoning lore than I think you'll find this recently-released book satisfying, they seem to be layering some stuff for past, present and future in there.


EDIT: 8 days later and some degenerate leaked a part of the new intro shown at the event
won't link because it's short, off-camera, at a weird angle and leave you hungry for the rest
but if you're so inclined you can probably find it


EDIT: if this is to be believed we shouldn't expect Season 3 in June

EDIT: Daron Nefcy was on-hand recently at Mexico's Creativa Fest 2017 to represent Star Vs. and got to meet several international fans and answer some of their questions about the show. She was also there to show off the 3rd season's new credits sequence and song (which no one was allowed to record) however someone managed to put together a mock-up of what it looked like:

Star Vs. TV movie will premiere in July

A special two-hour "Star vs. The Forces of Evil" TV movie event will premiere SATURDAY, JULY 15 (11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. EDT), on Disney XD, and will be available to verified users on the Disney XD app and Disney XD VOD platforms.

Titled "The Battle for Mewni," the TV movie follows Star as she returns to her home dimension of Mewni where she discovers that magic is disappearing throughout the kingdom. Star must dig deep and challenge archnemesis Ludo in an effort to save her family and kingdom.

Oh shit, didn't think they'd do something like that, especially at the start of a season.

On one hand, I feel like this thread hasn't really progressed anywhere to justify a new one but at the same time maybe making a new one will for the next season will draw in more fans. I'd be happy to make it if someone wanted it.

Finally picked up a copy of the Guide for Mastering Every Dimension. It is quite great and even has the recipe for Marco's Super Awesome Nachos.

Also, the whole Janna thing with Marco gets weirder with that book. There's confirmation that Marco and Star come home to Janna just being there eating their food. Janna's yearbook message to Star was see you in Marco's closet after he falls asleep.

There is also a relationship section with Star interviewing people. She interviewed Janna about that Skeleton from the Dimensional Field Trip and Janna threw in a comment about Marco not being ready to date someone as fierce as her. It feels like Janna is waiting for someone to break him in before she swoops in.

yeah it's kind of weird that.

jackie is missing from the opening, but it was always obvious marco was going to go save star likely ruining things with jackie in the process.
 
New intro seems to lack some of the energy of the old one. Still, I like it.

Now that I think about I am more interested about the Avengers assemble at the end. All the other characters could be said to be main or major characters at this point except Kelly. I am curious to see how her role might evolve this season.
 
Finally saw the season 3 intro. It's not as kinetic to me as the original, but lol at the avengers group up (that ironman).

I find it funny that in a way the intro song can now be interpreted as coming from Marco.

That means Tom is Hulk. The others are harder to place. Star has her magic wand, so she can be Thor. Marco can be Captain America. Which leaves Kelly and Pony Head. I like Pony Head less so she can be Hawk Eye while Kelly is Iron Man.

That was my original thought on Tom, but then I thought about his anger issues which is why I went with Hulk.
 
Marco's friends cut out completely from the opening. Man did the show do them dirty.

Deservedly so but it still is kind of hilarious.
