Star Wars Battlefront II |BETA| Execute Pre-Order 66

Literally every weapon from Battlefront '15, including the DLC weapons felt better then the weapons in this beta.
Really hope they can improve the shooting, because as you said, it SUCKS.

I COMPLETELY agree. If any developer is reading feedback here, please fucking change the shooting. I'm actually really bummed that the new more "hardcore" approach they've taken with this one means that the shooting and movement feel like THIS.

Man, I've tried to get into this game a couple times this week and I just can't. Didn't care for the gunplay in the original, and I don't care for it here. This is definitely going to be a rent now, so I can run through the campaign.

A shame. I REALLY wanted to like it.

You can cheese behind the wall, without the person knowing.

Have any of you on PC been getting a black screen when you launch the game? Even if I tab out of the game or close it with alt-f4 my screen stays black. I have to power off my PC and literally unplug my monitor because it won't turn off otherwise.

edit: updated drivers, repaired the game in Origin, still nothing. sounds like I'm not missing much anyway so I'll just give up.

I agree on the gunplay. Both Battlefronts so far have such a dissatisfying feel to firing the weapons. The sounds and animations are underwhelming and don't feel like grounded sci-fi.
At least the animation rigs for most characters seem buttery smooth, and pretty opposite when you look at the droids and how stiff they run.

While this is a big improvement over the first one, I think I would still have been happier with a Battlefield 1 with a Star Wars skin.

Starting up the game. Intro movie plays... hey, man the music is still great, this doesn't look half bad ... "Hi playaz!" *Skip*

So tired of real life people in my video games, whether it's developers or twitch/youtubers
i like the part where you don't hear proper english because ... why is that again?

Now that it's an open beta, I'd appreciate it if anyone could try both PS4Pro and PC and let me know if they perceive any difference in control behavior/responsiveness.

Where the Battlefront '15 beta was fun and I felt like a bad ass and actually sealed the dea for me getting the game, this had all the worse things I hated about playing Battlefront recently as I got the Platinum. Lots of camping spots throughout the map for no reason - where you basically "ran around the map and shoot Rebels/Imperials," this just isn't hitting it for me. I'll try it later but the first match I played was almost enough for me.

I really don't like the scanline effect going on with the text and UI. Makes me feel like my resolution is messed up.

Me too! It makes me feel a little dizzy tbh. It makes it hard to read. It almost feels like the whole screen is moving in a weird way. Some of the visual decisions here are just baffling. They went too far in the opposite direction from the first game.

There's nothing worse than having a bunch of animals on your team. Jeesh, literally was the only one trying to stop the CIS from getting to the controls.

Anyone else getting wavy scanlines on PS4 Pro 4k on the menus? Is that intentional? The loot boxes looked fuzzy. Wonder if beta build does that.,

Yes. Looks better in 1080. Not optimized whatsoever?

Yeah, it was the first thing I noticed. Thought something was wrong. First is with automatic resolution set, second is forcing 1080. Still there on 1080 but less abundant. Wondering if it isn't poor optimization, just some filter that is more visible at higher resolution? Either way I don't like it.

Max Res on PS4 Pro

Forced 1080p on Pro

That doesn't leave much time to play, for me to decide if to cancel my pre-order or not.

It was enough time for me to cancel mine.

Maybe I havent given it enough time but really feels more like Call of Duty then the first Battlefront to me anyhow.

Also not loving their loot crate system as with all games I will never buy a loot crate but the ones I "earn" I have the absolute worst luck getting something I am after.

Really feels like someone can throw a decent chunk of money at the game to start, get some decent luck at loot crates with some of the better Star Cards and start the game ahead of most other people.

I loved Battlefield 1, and was looking for more of that. That was presumptuous of me, so I'll treat this as it's own thing. That said, the gunplay is not very satisfying.

I've played a couple games so far and I don't know. Not sure I really like it. Just constantly getting sniped from far away or somewhere I'm not looking.

I haven't died this much without getting a kill since I played like... Modern Warfare 2

The last Battlefield I played was 4 and I enjoyed that.

Didn't play Battlefront 1 for a super long time either.

Played a bit and I like the gameplay from the original more tbh.

Starfighters have really shit controls. Just copy what battlefield and every other game did with planes.

The rest I find is just really convoluted. Star cards on top of battle points. No way to see what your abilities do after you pick the character. The map in GA is pretty shitty too. The LAAT Gunship was useless. Fighters are useless. Gunplay was better in the previous one as well.

I know, as I have said previously i loved the first game and I don't know why so many people hated it, but for me everything seems worse then in the original, not that I felt there was anything that bad in the original, the Walker Assault on Hoth BETA sold me the first game but this map is very poor so if it's the best map in the first lot then it's not looking good, once i had got used to the flying i was pretty good at it, but this feels entirely different I have no idea where I am as the ship spins on a dime and the weapons seem to be all over the place.

I don't care for the single player mode at all, I don't know why people were crying out for one really, I am with you on the loot-boxes, even though everyone knew about these months ago, I would only buy them with the credits that are earned on the game, just let me spend the credits on an actual upgrade/skin that I actually want not something random.

My concern is that if you don't get this game from the start it will be very difficult to get into later on :/

Having classes and no dumbass pickups is a huge improvement, but as others have said, having basically no class progression instead relying on random loot crates for unlocks is just asinine.

And I really hate that they brought back the gimmick in their large gamemode where a big vehicle has to plow through the middle of the map, the design suffers just to shoehorn that in where I think everyone would be happier having a plain ol' less linear CP map.

Really at this point the closer they can make it to Battlefield the better because everything else they try to switch up just ends up sucking harder.

I agree with that if your on the fence better get it at launch.

But then again most game with loot or progression if you fall very fall behind it isnt fun catching up.

I had high hopes for the sequel but man I'm just not feeling this one. Blaster don't feel as good as the first one. Overall speed and pace feels slow. It has the same running around a museum feel the first game suffered from. I still don't like how vehicles don't spawn on the map. The new classes feel a little pointless. Sadly I think I'm going to have to skip out on this one.

Honesty, hero on hero combat felt better in Battlefront 2015. The aggressor seems to win by default, got rushed by a Maul and couldn't do jack shit to get him off (no pushback on block?). I have done the same as Maul, it's dirty as sin.

My Vader vs. Luke duels were a lot more interesting.

Weapon hit feedback and visual cues are weaker than the original making gunplay feel significantly less exciting and satisfying. The bizarre damage output, thin blaster fire, and messy tiered coloured health bars and active cool down give combat an dull chip-damage RPG feel rather than the clean, simple action based combat of the original.

Classes are a nice touch but seem heavily underutilised and erratic in coherency, like they only exist to categorise drip feed upgrades and gear. There doesn't appear to be any sensibility or reward to why certain classes have certain powers, which admittedly is typical of any multiplayer early days.

Pick-a-hero-and-survive concept is shit. In classic kill-streak like trend the better players are immediately rewarded with higher tier/power characters that last as long as they can hold them. Accruing points is easy enough but it's basically a race to the most interesting stuff.

Map design is a combination of predictably terrible and surprisingly dull. Low and behold the fucking dogshit awful bottlenecks are back in full force because apparently that's the only way DICE can design a Star Wars game. Despite 40 players the map feels unusually empty and quiet until it gets to the garbage choke point final stage. The blend of objectives feels incoherent and unsatisfying, like it's weighed for a far better experience to the attacking team than anyone else and is unable to stick to a long term focus, making the map a drag.

Battlefront was an interesting game for me, because I adored the beta, cementing my purchase of the full game and season pass. I ended up being bitterly disappointed in a number of poorly directed and designed decisions throughout the entire package, namely some outright awful map design and the stupid balance breaking gear added in the expansions. And I felt there were little things here and there that weren't properly envisioned or thought out. But as a whole, issues aside, I wound up putting 260 hours into the multiplayer.

I've only just wet my feet with Battlefront II but in all honesty I don't really want to play any more. I'm not sure what DICE has done here but that immediate hook of the original's beta has been completely eroded into an experience that to me feels inherently scattered and unfocused, one that can't even get the elegant simplicity of the original's movement and combat right. I don't even like just running around and shooting shit, the basics of which exactly what kept me returning to Battlefront.

It feels weirdly stilted yet messy. What is this.

Your points are wonderfully articulated and express pretty much exactly how I feel too.

Such a disappointing Beta.

He's not a real person, he's a Star Wars character.

Game runs like a dream on my 3gig 1060 and skylake i5. Just went withthe high preset and we're good to go.

The game itself is interesting. It's very different from swbf1 in some ways much better in other ways ehhh.

It really feels like the game is based on you scraping by as a base trooper so you can ramp up and pick a special unit and then become a death machine.

just started playing...graphics look like a step down from the first game...everything looks more plastic and not as sharp...am I missing something or are there pretty much zero advanced graphics settings to tweak?...the Starfighter Assault controls are difficult to master using kb/m...flying movement seems too sensitive

is DX12 broken in the beta?

The game runs great and is pretty fun. It seems a lot more fleshed out than the previous game. The UI could be better. I don't like the huge buttons for different game modes and the seemingly useless countdowns everywhere.

I know, but I don't really want to gamble £70 on it though.

I am going to keep on with the BETA and just see how I get one the next couple of days.
