Star Wars Battlefront II |BETA| Execute Pre-Order 66

Not sure if it's just me, but the graphics on my xbox one don't just make me go "holy shit!" when i look at it...i guess because's it the beta afterall...

I only played about a hour and struggled to get 7 kills, but i do like it (loved the first one)...

I used the heavy and thought i was getting kills but it was just "assists".

Ill buy the game as it will give me something to play besides gears of war 4...

So i read the beta is only 720p?? If so, then that gives me relief...

Gotta see this bad boy with 4K...

I played another game as a droid, and im working my way into that plaza and suddenly i see shit flying everywhere and it's Rey and my heart just races and i run away and hide like a chicken!

Roger! Roger!

Ya know if this game didn't have loot boxes with pay to win machanics I would have bought it just for the starwars feel and single player but with them it's really like salt on a open sore. We have too many great games to waste time on this.

Where did you read the beta was only 720p? Proof please. I ask because on my 4K set it looks like blurry crap compared the battlefront 1

the YouTube trailers made the game look amazing from a graphics standpoint but the beta is disappointing to say the least...what happened to those gorgeous textures from the first game?...the textures on the rocks looked stunning (even in the SW: BF1 beta)...the foliage and lighting on Endor looked jaw dropping...DICE really took a step back in the graphics department with this...audio is still excellent though...the Slave One seismic charges sound amazing...blaster fire also sounds just like the movies

Pretty much only use ships on the current GA map if either:

A. You are a clone and want to use it to pile extra damage on the MTT during damage phases

B. You're a droid and you need to eliminate a clone who is doing A

C: You're a droid and are basically waiting for the indicator that a clone is charging the ion disruptor so you can divebomb them before they can get it off
It's stupid that's all they're good for.

I wonder how dramatic the costumes for the heroes will be. Sure, we get Kyle Ren and Rey in their last jedi duds but like....

Could we get whole new characters as skins? Say we get a Karbin skin for Grievous, suddenly him being available in the OG trilogy isn't as awful to me. Obi Wan will more than likely have Young and Old obi options, same with Luke

Does Jango Fett neeeeed to be his own guy, or could he be a boba fett skin? Cyborg Darth Maul would make him showing up on the Death Star neat/weird

Idk, I hope they go wild on the character skins honestly.

The beta was fun, but if there isn't more single player content, I will get bored very quickly.. They don't seem to understand that we want an offline mode that matches the online multiplayer mode.

TB is the one who put me off of Battlefront with his original overview of it and now hes doing the same for Battlefront 2.

He is a valuable asset to the industry.

I wish I had never bought the last one. I don't generally regret buying games, but they somehow found a way to make me regret it.

At least gameplay wise this one seems improved, that being said, likely not going to touch this one at all.

If it's like the previous game, it's going to have bots in multiplayer modes.

it just seems a bit lazy more than anything else. Why not have Qui Gon or Obi Wan on Naboo? Why Rey? Makes zero sense.

Seems the spread themselves thin. Couldn't finish every hero needed for each era so they chose what they thought were some of the most important. Other heroes will come down the line as free DLC.

agreed I think only once or twice we haven't reached the palace that was the easy part

Every other game the attackers make it into the palace in my experience...

It's not terribly difficult.

Maybe its because I have taken a break from gaming since around post release of BF3, but this game feels as fun as those games ever where. Plays like a pick up and play version of Bad Company 2. Having quite a bit of fun on PC.

can someone explain this screen to me...what does 'Total Collection 16' mean?...how is Han Solo at Level 2 when I never played him in the beta...is there something I'm missing as far as being able to permanently play as a hero or hero ship?...

Kinda bummed/surprised to see so many people almost unanimously dislike the game. I've enjoyed it, albeit I mostly only played starfighter, and knowing there will be more maps/modes at launch I'm looking forward to it even more. I tend to be easily entertained though.

So the way leveling up a trooper/hero/ship works is dependant on how many cards, weapons, mods, etc you have for that character/vehicle and how valuable they are.

So while you never played as Han, you got a lootbox that gave him something(s) and that leveled him to 2.

Total collection, as you can guess, is how much swag you got for all characters and ships.

I'm not sure why I preordered this. It could be my worst preorder ever. If fact my only bad preorder. So, I am holding out hope these issues will be fixed, and the game can settle into something great by release or a couple months after. At least the space combat seems pretty cool.

I don't know if it's just because of the mode itself, but playing a bunch of rounds on Takodana has made the gunplay finally "click" for some reason. I've both gotten pretty good at it with some pretty lengthy killstreaks, and kills themselves just feel a tad more satisfying to do than in the previous game now.

so every card/weapon/mod is only able to be used on one specific item?...I can't use the same card on multiple items?...so everything is solely dependent on the loot boxes and I can't just grind away to unlock the same items?

The thing I hate about this game and the previous one is how vehicles are not integrated into the ground battles hardly at all. You hop in a space ship and it's like you're playing a completely different game divorced almost entirely from the ground. I'd like to see more integration. Give clear bombing targets. Give some different controls to the vehicles to make it more practical to try to fire on ground targets.

On that note, hitting ground targets from the air in Theed is next to impossible compared to the first game. Those E3 demo people must have practiced that shit to infinity and beyond.

They should at least add some subtle blue highlight just like they did with Stormtroopers that are far away while playing Hoth in SWBF2015.

I've made it this far without having an account on Twitter but I kind of want to make one just to tweet at the devs and see if they're at least aware of the feedback regarding loot boxes and how damaging the P2W perception is.

I do think it's really dumb that class progression is tied to loot crate RNG. I really hope that changes before release.

I also wonder if they'll pay out more credits per match in the final release.

This is DICE we're talking about. They won't care until six months after release when they've handed it off to devs that give a shit, like the CTE folks.

Ok guys either my game is fucking up with me or there's a bug with the Star fighter controls. I wanted to change it so I could control it with the left stick and leave roll and pitch on the right stick so I chose Southpaw where both sticks get swapped but Pitch is left on the left stick and only the x axis of both stick got swapped instead of. It X and Y axis.

Anyone else with this problem?

Wanted to like this game as I skipped the 1st one and Campaign seemed interesting, but saw how broken some of the Star Cards are (first-hand too during actual games, by using them and seeing what others were using). Combining that with the ability to purchase them with real money is a no-no for me.

Also disappointed with lack of clear blaster bolts, as already mentioned.

Seems like you want Legacy instead, have you tried that?

Also don't forget to turn Advanced Flight On and Disable Roll Off.
Yaw controls also seems to actually do a sort of automatic pitch + roll.

Funny, I experienced the complete opposite. The added ability to zoom in while flying makes it much easier to pick out targets on the ground as compared to Battlefront '15.
The only gripe I had was the fact that the Theed airspace is so small. Blink two times and you're out of bounds.

Yeah that's my main gripe. It really is poor game design.

I really hate this. It's such a pointless way to jettison the lore and sense of immersion.

The cross-era heroes thing just feels like the worst kind of adolescent fanboyism, at the cost of any sense of reality. Watching the not yet conceived Rey slice through separatist droids just feels like a missed opportunity. I'd prefer super-powered clones (perhaps some from the Clone Wars show) vs. fancy droids, that's easy to design if they can't get Obi-Wan done.

If they could change one thing before release... keeping heroes in their own timeline would be the thing.

Won't happen though.

Enjoyed the beta, but watching some streamers who've no-lifed the game play the Officer, and have a disruptor with absolutely huge range for disabling everyone, compared to my piece of shit level 1 disruptor, is very disheartening.

Having levelled up cards is a really big advantage.

Battlefront became a much better game after the patches and I hope that this one gets better over time as well. Still though it's a little strange that they seemed to throw out everything that worked with the first game and now the sequel has a whole new set of problems.

Outside of Star Cards, I am finding the beta to be quite enjoyable, personally. The core gameplay and visuals and sound design all seem fine to me.

I wish Star Cards could be taken out and just placed into classical Battlefield style progression where you just play the class and the class just unlocks those specific abilities and upgrades them the further along you rank up. Also, make the differential in percentages for some of them a lot smaller -- the difference between a low-tier Star Card and a top-tier one is seemingly insane on some of the cards. I feel like there shouldn't ever be more than a 6-8% difference between low and high tier. I'd even be okay with them going the "shortcut kit" route for the classes to give players the ability to timeskip the grind... I know a lot of people won't agree with that, but I think it's a far better alternative to leaving Star Cards to random chance.

It won't happen because EA is undoubtedly set on trying to make microtransaction money off of it, but it'd be pretty close to what I'd personally want out of a contemporary Battlefront game otherwise, at least assuming the campaign is reasonably good quality and not Battlefield campaign quality.
... Watch it be like a Battlefield campaign. T_T
