Star Wars Battlefront II |BETA| Execute Pre-Order 66

My feedback post in regard to the current state of the assault class.

I generally agree with your points. For me the primary thing that needs to be addressed is how effective the heavy is at close range. The heavy is presumably meant to be a middle distance monster capable of suppressing and holding down corridors and key positions but right now they are most dangerous at point blank range where they can't miss despite their guns inherent inaccuracy. The assault feels like it's intended to have strong versatility throughout the ranges with a particular dominance at close range, so having the heavy be so strong up close is particularly oppressive.

The question is, I guess, how can the heavy have high health, the strongest gun, and a shield, without being broken? Maybe some nerfs around mobility?

In terms of changes to the assault, it would be nice to see the sensor launcher be a little more useful. The outlines are so hard to see right now that it can feel practically worthless. As for buffs to the guns, it may be worth seeing what some of the other assault rifles can do before getting too worried.

While not perfect, I am interested in BF2 more than the arcade simplicity of BF2015. Cannot wait to see how they deal with all this feedback and how it shapes the game going forward.

For some reason, I feel like this game isn't going to change much beyond what we got this weekend. Betas these days are mostly demo's

I would like to add, How in the holy Hell did DICE not make Titan mode the feature of both battlefronts? It would work so well in both space and ground battles. For those not familiar with Titan mode it is from Battlefield 2142 and worked like conquest except capturing points allowed your team to fire missiles at the opposing teams titan. When it was weak enough you could board it and destroy it. Battlefield 4 had a similar mode in one of its DLCs with carrier assault.

Imagine the first part of the battle being in space with ships and transports trying to land troops on one of two captial ships while ai and players are blasting each other to pieces all around. Would have been amazing! I think OG battlefront 2 had some maps that were similar? I seem to remember 1 at least.

See what I mean? They get the game NEARLY right. It's like they're almost there, but just miss the mark.

What's strange is that in BF2015 using a heavy blaster actually decreased your mobility. Strange that didn't make it over.

The flametrooper is pure hot garbage, damn. The wookie isn't that good either.

Upgrade the specialist sniper with 3 round burst, tadaa the ideal assault weapon.

The thing I hate about this game and the previous one is how vehicles are not integrated into the ground battles hardly at all. You hop in a space ship and it's like you're playing a completely different game divorced almost entirely from the ground. I'd like to see more integration. Give clear bombing targets. Give some different controls to the vehicles to make it more practical to try to fire on ground targets.

hopefully on other Galactic Assault maps it will be better!

And it never gets old...

i really love the clone jet trooper

also does anyone know what time the beta is closed?

My feedback post in regard to the current state of the assault class.
Totally agree with your points bro.

I have the same feelings playing as an officer. Upgraded Blurgg + turret can be a nightmare specially in small spaces or takodana map but also that combo as a nice long mid range.

The game is totally in function of starcards. The first day i was lost about how my Han Solo was level 6 if i played with him just one time? Answer: Only starcards allows leveling classes. Also in Starfighter Assault you can really feel a difference when you have a ship equipped with golden upgraded starcards.
My Bobba Fett is level 9 and i never played with him 'cause his slot is always taken lol.

So the only stuff i feel outside the starcards was completing all the challenges and leveling your rank.

I will miss earning a lot of credits alikefter the battle like the first Battlefront.

I see very few cosmetics. Imo i like to change how they look. Don't like the fact you need to earn starcards to unlock emotes or victory poses like in Overwatch.

I can see Dice placing a golden trophy for doing all the arcade mode maps with 3 stars. :/

I understand the heavy more as close range crowd control and for holding positions, maybe to give cover for allies. They need to limit the range and accuracy of the assault gun and it would be fine. Heavy=short range, Assault=medium range, Specialist=long range.

40 fucking kill killstreak with the specialist.

23k points total.

19k in battle points.

And then we lost.

Also, don't bother shoulder charging maul with Han. It does absolutely jack shit.

The beta seems to have been extended, the website is now saying the beta runs through the 11th instead of the 9th (today). Same endtime of noon EST.

Haven't watched but I just got a YouTube notification from BFUpdates that the beta has been extended.

Ah?

Edit: Yep, extended.

Early Access begins Oct 4 at 8:00 AM UTC. Open to All Oct 6 at 8:00 AM UTC. Beta closes Oct 11 at 4:00 PM UTC

Nice! Been away for most of it. Need to delve in when I get back. Would be great if they did some updates it to work on player feedback.

I really cannot place my finger on it, but it simply isn't as fun as the first game for me and I don't know why. Maybe the map is naff? Maybe the gunplay feels off? Or it's just clunky?

A little surprised to be honest, I thought this one was a slam dunk.

What modes did you play more of on BF2015?

What modes did you play more of on BF2015?

I have to be honest, I only played the beta of BF2015, but I remember having a really good time with it. Particularly the ATAT defense game mode on the snow map. My biggest concern and reason for lack of purchase was because of the lack of content.

Seems like they inherently changed some of the fundamentals of the first game?

How many maps per mode should we expect?

My biggest interest is Starfighter Assault.

1 Starfighter
2 Galactic
3 Strike
4 Hero vs Hero
5 Blast

Is the roster big enough now that we can have Heroes vs Villains with ONLY heroes and villains? Like, I'm not going to have to spawn as a regular stormtrooper anymore am I?

I liked the Beta overall, but there needs to be more options for the flight controls. I cannot use any of them and it sounds like Im not alone in this.

I loved the beta but there are some negatives for me (played PC):

- I don't like how the end of game screen does not show any objective based scoring in galactic assault. For example who hit the MTT most etc. This means that currently to get on the end of game screen you need a kill streak or the most kills to get on there. That's fine but in an objective based mode, people who play the objective should also be showcased.

- The visual feedback when shooting needs a lot of work. Blaster bolt graphics need a rework/upgrade.

- Some graphical bugs such as the shield not showing up on the heavy when activated. This happened a few times.

- I find it quite hard to score points with the officer class. The turret takes too long to acquire targets and the commander buff doesn't seem to do much.

- I don't like the film grain image and the CA. Please take those out or toggle them at least.

Besides these things I loved it and will be picking it up at launch. I haven't really read much of this thread so if any of these things have been given an explanation etc then apologies.

Is there a limit to Maul's force choke? I got like 10 people at once in a hallway. That can't be right?

It's an AOE effect. You can see a white outline of its range on the ground when you activate it, it's like a large wedge in front of him. It'll hit everryone in that range, so if 10 people were crammed in front of you, it'll get them all.

The only one we know for sure is that there are 11 Galactic Assault Maps
-Naboo
-Kamino
-Kashyyyk
-Hoth
-Endor
-Tatooine
-Yavin IV
-Death Star II
-Jakku
-Takodana
-Starkiller Base

We know of 6 Starfighter Assault Maps right now, but no indication of if there are more
-Fondor
-Death Star II Debris
-Kamino
-Ryloth
-Unknown Regions
-Starkiller Base

As for the smaller modes, no indication yet.

Awesome! I was expecting about three. Thanks!

Is Takodana for sure a galactic assault map? Or is the map used for strike a cut-off portion of the GA map?

You'd think Dice would know proper flamethrower damage after Battlefield 1.

Vader gameplay on Endor and the Death Star.

DICE you're killing me here! Vader had this great backhand diagonal slash (as his opening attack) in BF2015 and it looked killer. Now he has this wimpy skip and 'gonna punch you in the dick' slash. What the fuck..

HOP VADER HOP!

Also bonus points, in the new gameplay footage you can see him deflect but again I can't see the bolts even impacting or being reflected off his saber. Grabbed some Battlefront 2015 footage for comparison.. ah.. a nice stream of blaster bolts being directly reflected back into rebel scum.

HOP VADER HOP!

I need to know if they improved on his shitty VO. All I've had to go by was that one line in the Starfighter trailer.

Also, don't bother shoulder charging maul with Han. It does absolutely jack shit.

Just did it this morning. Droids proceeded to awkwardly stare at me before glassing me.

Tbh, it was kind of dumb maneuver in the previous game too, except when you were lucky enough to be in a long corridor.

Is Takodana for sure a galactic assault map? Or is the map used for strike a cut-off portion of the GA map?

I don't know if the Takodana Strike map is a section or a whole seperate map, but we do know for sure there will be a Takodana Galactic Assault map.

EA tweeted out the full list of Galactic assault maps after teasing with question marks.

This was my argument the other day where people were happy about the removal of the death counter saying that it has no business being in objective based games because then people actually play the objective. I don't see it like that, I see it just as I see ELIMINATION flashing on your screen when you get an assist, a way of making worse players feel like they're not doing so bad. If it truly was because of objective based gameplay then the top 5 player screen would reflect that, instead it highlights. Most Kills, Longest Kill Streak, MVP (which is almost always the person with the most kills), Assists and Damage Dealt. Not a single thing there regarding objective score, it's only combat.

I posted this in another thread but it probably belongs in here.

The 3rd battlefront game was going to have flying to space and ground seamlessly. It was kind of in the handheld version, BF: Elite Squadron.

It shouldn't be like the bethmonths since it kind of doesn't make sense as those vehicles in Star Wars were always have a constant presence in battle. That goes back to the point with DICE's need to have almost everything be a 'cinematic' experience. It can make the gameplay restrictive and uninteresting. Like the gunship, it is uninteresting and pretty useless, but it has to be 'cinematic'.

Wouldn't damage dealt showcase damege to objectives as well? I got MVP in one match as damage dealer and I'm pretty sure it counted objectives... or maybe I assisted a lot and didn't notice.

Is it just me or are the air crafts on the Naboo level completely worthless, you cant make out any enemies on the ground and the crafts seem to be too fast to do any bombing runs or spot anyone to shot at all!. It might be worthwhile if the enemies on the ground had a red silhouette around them so they are easier to spot or lower the crafts speed even more.

It would probably be better on that map to remove all air base crafts all together and add in some more ground base crafts as the map is just too small

You don't get any points for shooting the MT when it's vulnerable. You only get points if you're the one who shoots the Ion Distributor at the MTT.

You get points later on when you're taking or defending the throne room, but shit, so is everyone else since they're such restricted areas.

Shame theres no Death Star 1 map or the space scene from Phantom Menace for Starfighter assault mode.

Also whats the chances of DICE/EA adding all the maps/modes from the first game as DLC at somepoint as surely all Battlefront 1 fans will move over to this game would just be nice to have all the maps in one place

have to fly up high and come straight down on groups of enemies just fly near the ion disruptors youll always find enemies near them either clones getting them or droids fighting to stop clones from getting them

and no dont remove them from the map they are great had one run where i had over 40 kills with a vulture droid

But surely flying even higher up make it even hard to scope out enemies to rain down hot plasma on!??. Maybe its just the shite resolution of the Xbox One version that makes it difficult to spot enemies. There just doesn't seem to be enough open spaces without builds obscuring any real line of sight bar the parade down the center of the map and to be far no one who knows what there doing is going to venture near there that much.

flying high up then dropping your throttle all the way down and slowly dive down gives you time to scope out whats going on below can see where the highest amount of concentrated fire is coming from and always fly near the 2 objectives thats where the highest concentration of players will be then you use the laser barrage ability and rack up some kills

Didn't know the beta was extended, cool, I need to play a bit more but I'm sure I'll buy it.

Thx to VonGreckler on the maps info, that pretty much sold me.

Can't speak for the visuals on Xbox but even maxed out on PC it can be a little difficult to spot enemies on the ground. I like to open up and slow down for strafe runs, just be mindful of where the objective is and you'll spot some enemies. You'll rack up tons of kills in no time. Locate the disruptor with the objective marker and think to yourself, "where would I be if I was trying to get a hold of it/defending it from clones?" and shoot there. You'll get a kill every time.

Angry Joe talking about the lootboxes.

Holy crap, I hadn't really looked at the hero cards : Boba Fett being invincible with the top Death from Above card is beyond retarded. This is even worse than I thought.

Do not give EA money over this shit.

Yeah, just watched that. Shocking stuff.

These have to be placeholder values, no way can they be right. I didn't even pay attention to them while playing as I rarely do with that crap.

The more I play and think about this game, the more disappointed I am. I seriously don't understand what this game even is. It's like there was no game director with a vision and was all done by committee. It needs a major overhaul and to work out what it wants to be, more of a military sim and just go full Battlefield or more an arcade game and go full Battlefront. I'd prefer the latter but I'd be a lot happier with either regardless.

In strike, as the resistance, your objective to defend the artifact. And yet, from what I can tell, if you're in Maz's Castle defending the objective, you get 0 points.

In BF 2015, defending the objectives awards points.
