It blows my mind that anyone ever thought for a second anything from the EU would be in these movies any way. It was absolutely never going to happen.

Why? The Thrawn Trilogy is pretty much the best Star Wars trilogy out there, and was much more faithful to the OT than the PT ever was. It played a major role in reviving interest in Star Wars, I'd argue. Plus it has Mara Jade, one of the most well-written female protagonists in sci-fi.

I didn't mean that there isn't good stuff in the EU. Just that it has always been obvious it would never have an effect on the movie universe. Lucas has always said the movies are the movies and he doesn't give a fuck about the rest (outside of cashing those checks).
