Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser confirmed to hit iTunes this Friday

Please, please come online before I have to go into work on Friday afternoon. If not I will literally have to wait until Monday as I work all weekend at a place without wifi and all I would have is my phone... and I really don't want to watch it on my tiny ass phone.

Wondering if Thursday will have a scheduled update including cast photos in costume and/or a teaser poster.

And then 12am EST/9pm PST, hopefully iTunes unlocks.

I'm hoping for this as well.

Haven't been this amped up since before Episode I trailer came out.
New Star Wars.... I never thought we would get anymore.

The set they built for Nero's ship in Trek 09 was awesome and the CGI use in that movie was very well done.

Trek 09 had good CGI..? are we thinking about the same movie? mine had some completely ridiculous badly animated ice planet monster. cheesy doesn't even begin to describe the awfulness.

1) the monster was pretty decently realized
2) there's a TON of stuff in that movie that is REALLY well done so far as blending models, on-set photography, and CG elements.
3) Most of the shots of the Enterprise in space are really fucking good. In fact, whatever you might say about Abrams' Star Trek movies, the space battle sequences are probably the prettiest, most kinetic in the entire series by a considerable margin.

people liked the monster? i dont know what to say. thought it was 100% bad.

the space shots were probably good though, i'll give you that. i dont remember anymore, was really disappointed by the movie and i've tried to forget about it heh. it's just that damn tacky monster that still haunts me..

Hey, fair enough. :) I remember the basic criticism was that it was just basically the Cloverfield monster (remix), and it's hard to argue against that.

That whole sequence was pretty awkward, honestly. One of the bigger problems with trying to hedge bets and make the film both a reboot and an extension of regular continuity.

It begins.

I'll watch this but after that I'm going full media blackout. Wish me luck.

whereas I'm gonna eat every rumor.
It's te movie I'd rather spoil myself online a few months/weeks before it releases rather than build anticipation only to be spoiled closer to finish.

I have zero faith in being able to see this movie unspoiled. 0.
and until proven otherwise, JJ is better at the mystery box thing than at directing.

Seeing the movie will be enjoyable anyways. I doubt Disney is making another John Carter, and that movie was okay.
Some plot decisions and the acting will make or break its "iconic" status. Spoiling myself changes nothing to that. The plot will work, or not, just as the acting will be good, or not.
It's gonna be a visual orgasm unless the movie is 2hrs of Adam Driver's face close-ups.

Probably get a new one of these soon.

my money is on such pics won't release before the movie hits.
not for the sake of the mystery box, but rather the simple act of not breaking immersion. which is the reason they went to such great lenghts at getting fresh faces for what is the costliest movie ever made. the same pallies to the old crew. they get nothing from having them remembered as actors.

I just realized I going to be a teaser, not a trailer.... meh. Is probably going to be 4 seconds of the new stormtrooper helmet or something =(

88 seconds. and yes, you'll probably get 4 seconds of lens flares over a trooper helmet. and you will come here and cry like a baby. cries of joy. cries of more. cries of love. cries of pain. get the drill?

this tease is the equivlent of getting a girl shaking all over while you almost don't touch her, almost. like 88 seconds are almost what you want. but ot quite so. yet...you'll be shaking.

I jist wish its a mix between prequels and sequels. Take best part of both tribology

the only thing they'll bring from the prequels is the lore expansion aspect they gave the series.

the sequels are OG trilogy based, and the future of the series is an artsy take on the MCU with bigger profits coming from merchandising which allow for said more artsy take.

Taking mostly about fights here

The saber fights in the prequels were nowhere near as good as the OT. They were overly stylized and focused too much on the action. The OT ones were far more about the drama and character motivations. The Vader/Luke fight in Jedi wasn't that action heavy but it so much better than the prequel fights. I am not expecting Abrams and co. to use the prequel saber fighting style. I expect it to go Original Trilogy every step of the way outside of some lore and historical background like was mentioned in a post a little ways up.

This film is going to lean heavily on the originals in terms of style and storytelling (not to mention characters). I wouldn't hold out much hope for much, if any, prequel influence.

I am curious to watch this trailer but I approach with caution, especially when it comes to Star Wars trailers.

Not me, it has to be a pretty damn good teaser.

I am not expecting just a shot of a helmet or anything. Look what the official Star Wars twitter has been saying in reply to someone posting about the fake trailer:
@kylieboi84 @YouTube It's not. Ours is pretty epic too!

Would they call a teaser with little to no footage epic? That'd be pretty misleading I think.

Yep, 15 years of the prequel era kind of diminishes the personal hype.

I could understand if the main creative talent behind this movie had anything to do with the prequels....they don't.

Hell the screenwriter of The Force Awakens wrote The Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi.

When I woke up this morning someone posted the "trailer" on their Facebook page. I was like "oh shiiiii"

and then I clicked on it....

That fake one has about 2.5 million views after just a day...

hummm...I think you'll be happy. think OG fights with good choregraphs and better technics rather than CG extravangazza. Think Dark Maul rather than Yoda.

Not me, it has to be a pretty damn good teaser.

I doubt it's bad. Getting a change of pants to bring to work with me tomorrow.
Production started before the castings happened. When it comes to props, landscapes and some CG, the teaser trailer has ample stuff to choose from. Anyways, I mostly want some contextual info such as characters in costumes and a semblance of the status of the Universe as well as hints as what is to come on terms of threats and discoveries.

New Star Wars.... I never thought we would get anymore.

Same here. Episode VII...wow. I still can't believe it. I liked the prequels and I really thought Episode III would be it. Glad Lucas decided to pass the legacy on.

And here we are. Hours away from a new Star Wars teaser. Unreal.

Sorry, at this point they have to earn it.

So when they say Friday, do they mean at midnight or later tomorrow?

I doubt it'll be midnight tonight. My guess is it'll be mid-day at the earliest. Probably at least after the first theatre showings which will be noonish. The theatre promotion is pointless if everyone will have already seen it online.

First screenings for a lot of theaters on Black Friday are actually 10-11am. They try to squeeze in as many extra screenings as they can for that weekend.

Apparently the Alamo is going to run it once every five minutes by itself, and hold discussions on it for the two or three minutes inbetween screenings, but I think that's an invite only thing? I heard about it yesterday, but I don't live in Austin so I didn't look any further into it.

I can't believe we're gonna see the seventh Star Wars film for the first time tomorrow.

My inner child is ecstatic, but the adult me is afraid that I'm gonna get burned and suffer again (the episodes...)

It's an awesome feeling...

Hoping the trailer is more "Phantom Menace" and less "Star Trek 2009" in its format. Both are good and all but that Phantom Menace trailer really gave fans a lot to chew on. I want something like that.
