Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer

It's gonna be that Rey and Kylo are twins. Them together is the raw power, Luke told Han and Leia to separate them and he would take Kylo and try and hone his talents. Things go badly.
Doesn't work. We know they're not related. The Force Awakens doesn't allow for that.

I can't believe how fucking spoilery this trailer was. Unless those are some red herrings, it's absolutely unbelievable. Seriously what the fuck.

Anyway, the trailer didn't get me much hyped. Everything about the Force and what not is being cranked up to 11 and it's just too much now. They are at the point where they just have to make shit up and it's like a never ending cycle. Anything mysterious about the star wars world is disappearing.

Another thing is that the film looked "too digital", if that makes any sense. Too much FX that's very obvious.

All this being said, I'll probably be peeing myself day and night 1 week before the movie releases in anticipation.

There was likely a lot of misdirection, do I wouldn't worry too much about spoilers.

theres definitely plenty of mystery around this trilogy lol

Not a bad idea, but the thought of Rey being a nobody with no actual relation to the Skywalkers triggers me.

I'd much prefer her actually being Kylo's sister, and Luke having erased everyone's memory to keep her safe. With only Kylo slowing being able to sense it.

I would LOVE for her to be a nobody. Symbolically and thematically it would make for a more compelling story than the Royal Blood line shit we have watched for 7 movies.

Wow. Didn't consider that he's actually talking about Rey, through and through with those lines.

Interesting analysis. Makes sense.

Empire Strikes Back Soft Reboot 2: Hatchimals Focus Testing looks neat.

I rewatched VII trailer. I like it better than the movie. I think I can skip this new film, satisfy headcannon through trailers, and call it series over.

Lol ive certainly heard alot of things people had issues with the Prequels but the "in an office critiscm" is a first.

Lol you have to love GAF and the internet in general, where you have too many nerdy people thinking way too hard about this shit to the point where it becomes unintentional humor. :D

I think the trailer is great and contain misdirections and numerous people will take the baits. I'm sure it's Rey who displayed insane raw potential as an infant, but all signs would point toward Kylo based on the trailer. Kylo simply doesn't have abilities for Luke to say that he saw this level of raw power once before, as he struggled to summon the lightsaber in the snow while Rey rocketed it toward her.

Rey is Snoke's granddaughter. Snoke learned of her powers at a young age but then her parents took her away. He sends Kylo to retrieve her from the Academy. This entire "hunt skywalker" is just because he thinks she's still with him when she's been on Jakku. Her parents were seen in the First Order jail in The Force Awakens.

It better not be trying to say Luke isnt the most powerful Jedi ever... Any retcon that does that is stupid.
To my knowledge, Luke has never been stated to be the most powerful Jedi ever.

And even if he was, nothing to say the next generation can't overtake him, considering he overtook his dad.

Let her be Snoke's child, that'd be an interesting way to tie everything together. Luke took her from Snoke and when he tried to fight back Luke nearly destroyed him, causing him to be malformed.
Kylo is then a powerful force user but compared to Rey a nobody, and merely a means for Snoke to get back at Luke through his nephew.

So would I. I sometimes get annoyed at franchises that like to keep all the important characters either all related to one another (after the initial entries) or part of some chosen family/bloodline

Trailer has a lot of misdirection in how they edited some scenes. Looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds.

That's a really big stretch I think because Snoke would have mentioned this alone, while talking to Kylo. Instead he only talks about finding Luke, the last Jedi.

Though I do think Snoke and Kylo both know more about Rey than we think in TFA.

As others have said, nothing in the movies suggests Luke is the most powerful Jedi ever, but also...

How would that make him a more interesting character? You need flaws in your characters to make them interesting (and Luke has plenty of those in the OT). This isn't Dragonball Z, power levels are nonsense.

We can't really call Rey overpowered though. Not until we have a better understanding of her history and the awakening that occurred in her. How much of her ability is due to a past we may not know about? And exactly how aggressively is the Force guiding her in order to accomplish its will?

And on the whole Kylo being strong bit, it isn't so black and white. Kylo is neither a fully trained Jedi nor Dark Jedi but he is inherently strong in the Force, and we know he was hurting bad but managed to channel the pain and anger (punching his wound depicts this) to soldier on and fight. He took a shot from the bowcaster and got sliced a bit by Finn. This gave Rey, who already knows how to defend herself to a certain extent thanks to growing up alone on the harsh world of Jakku, an advantage. And she was still losing that fight until she opened herslef up to the Force.

Get out of here with a thoughtful analysis of the facts presented to us in the film.

We're here to whine about Kylo not being the supreme edgelord bad ass and bash MaRey Sue for being powerful AND having a vagina!

Probably not since it looks like he blows her up halfway through

It also is shot to look like he is reaching for Rey's hand... but the scenes are clearly different.

Don't believe Star Wars trailers.

Nah, Snoke is hiding his relation to Rey from Kylo on purpose because he wants Kylo to feel like he's being nurtured as his protege because he's special, not because he's the means to someone more special. He wouldn't go along with that.

What retcon? All the movies ever said was The Force is strong with him and his family. I can get why you'd get an inflated sense of importance from that, but it would be consistent to introduce someone stronger than him, because there were already precedents for stronger Force users existing (Yoda and The Emperor).

She's a mystery child. Doesn't matter what Snoke says. She could be a clone of Vadar for all we care.

Her charcter is empty enough Snoke could know but doesn't say cause he's only using Kylo. Kylo learning this causes him to kill Snoke. There's very little info given so they can just make shit up.

Aint nobody got time for these dumb ass carrots.

This really made me laugh out loud.

Join us in the OT so you can argue your headcannon with, you know, people who have seen more than 2 and a half minutes of the movie

Water is wet!

Actually its not that obvious since alot of speculation in the thread is whether he kills her as the trailer is designed to tease. In fact that's far more a natural conclusion based on available evidence than Kylo turning to the light specifically by his mother's will and grace.

Also, just watched the trailer again and I'm sure people have already talked about this possibility because I'm always slow with these things, but could Snoke be talking to Rey instead of Kylo in the intro? Just after he stops talking it cuts to Rey, her first line connects neatly to Snoke's monologue thematically, and the end of the trailer, where she's force tortured (or something) by Snoke definitely indicates a meeting between the two in this movie. Don't forget, Snoke "felt" the force awaken in her in TFA. There's something special about her, and Snoke knows it. Bad guys trying to convert good, young jedi has happened often enough in Star Wars.

I feel like Kylo's arc might include Snoke considering Rey as his replacement (which Rey won't do, of course). Keeping on feeding his inferiority complex, pushing him to keep doing more horrible things to prove himself.

Kylo Ren was

1) Badly wounded
2) Mentally unfocused
3) Wasn't actively trying to kill Rey

Kylo losing makes perfect sense

1) not badly wounded enough to prevent him from rushing after them and cornering then in the forest
2) he seemed pretty focused on the task at hand albeit in an unhinged state
3) I don't see how that's relevant

The absurdity in Kylo losing is the realisation he's like 30~ years old, trained in the Force under both Luke and Snoke, and is good enough with light saber it's all he carries to defend himself.

I know the emo teenager thing is a fun joke, but Kylo is a grown Sith apprentice that's apparently really good against anyone that isn't a complete novice using the Force and a light saber for the first time. It's silly.

I mean...to a casual Star Wars fan (me), I don't even know who Snoke is. Sure they could build it up in the VIII, but right now it would just be an "Oh, Okay" moment to all but the lore fans.

Folks love Royal Court politics. Look no further than actual Court politics. But man...Just the fact that there are random powerful forces in the universe that can come from anywhere...come from anything... things that don't make sense really...they just...ARE..would just make for a cool story. A message that power can come from nothing...

Way cooler if you ask me. I'd be surprised if they go this route, but hey...

I kinda want Rey's family to just be a bunch of randoms who just ditched their kid on Jakku when she started doing freaky Force shit. It would fit with my belief (and Rian Johnson's belief for what it's worth) that the mystery of Rey's parentage isn't what's important about her, it's the fact that she has abandonment issues and her journey to discover her own destiny/family.

Porgs are ugly and will not be a thing

They are to me

Snoke is a nobody too, so far, so it doesn't really tie Rey down to be connected to him.
