Whoever said Rey is the Rainmaker from Looper was spot on. That seems to be exactly what she is in this series heh
Elucidate.

See im torn on Daisy, I think her lack of acting experience showed up in certain places in TFA, that being said in no way do I think it was a bad performance, I think its clear she grew into the role and I am looking forward to the next film to see her have more range.
Driver I think put much more into Kylo than actually existed in the script and given his body of work is clearly and incredible actor, they discussed this on Rebel Force Radio with Sam Witwer when they were doing the commentary but the "mask acting" Driver does is phenominal, when talking to vader, when emoting, its really really really hard stuff to do and he nails it.
That is different than saying Kylo is an incredible acting performance, or an incredible character, so far to me he is interesting not iconic, but I do think Driver gives more to his character so far than the others.
Thanks...
I'm about to get into the new canon... By y'alls opinions is it worth getting into now or is it still rocky and bare bones
I agree with Pizza's assessment for the most part, and am very hopeful that Thrawn will survive past Episode VI. We don't know his fate just yet. Speaking of Thrawn, make sure to read Zahn's book, it's easily the best written piece of the new canon. While I've enjoyed a good deal of the new stuff, and find that on average it is far better than a good chuck of post Hand of Thrawn EU content, the prose itself for a lot of the books has left me wanting quite a bit.
The books I've enjoyed reading the most were Tarkin and Thrawn. While I like Bloodlines, I made the mistake of reading it around the same time I started re-reading the X-Wing novels and found that I vastly preferred their style of presentation (still a solid read though). There's something about the word flow I prefer in those books, can't really put my finger on it. Speaking of which, I need to warn you that the Aftermath books are a slog to get through, which is disappointing considering that the actual content contains the most interesting parts of the new canon by virtue of taking place in the VI-VII gap. I don't have any problems throwing them under the bus, the format is a bit scattered and not anywhere near as smooth as the rest of the new canon books. But as always, YMMV.
It was hard to lose the EU, but it kinda needed to be done, and so far it's looking like the soft reboot was all worth it. All I need is for VIII to blow me away for me to concede that.
And if Mara Jade ever shows up, then I'll be firmly on canon is better from then on out, though it's looking like that dream is dead...
Ah yes thrawn... I'm glad he made the cut, beside Rebels is there any indication that he survives RotJ? I'd really like for him to show up in an Anthology film but also the main series granted chiss are suddenly able to live longer than the average human.
So I'm rewatching TFA for the first time in months
Yeah this movie is still fucking good.
Gunna see if I can piece something together in accordance with the newest trailer.
Loved it when i watched it first in theatres, still really like it.
But ofc the most popular movies gets alot of backlash cus reasons and it's always exciting being contrarians.
Also enjoyed most of Rogue One. Like most people the Vader scene in the end gave me a boner and the battle in the end was really well made too.
Idk if you guys have it in the US but, UltraAVX+Dbox is actually a pretty nice experience. Saw Alien Covenant like that and had a great time when shit was hitting the fan, I imagine I'll feel similarly here.I think it's more an excuse to give out $4 of hokey plastic/posters and get triple the money back. They'll want to promote Solo more widespread when they're ready to.
I didn't go for the fan event. I'd rather wait and see the movie a couple hours later on a true IMAX screen. The movie is what it's all about and I'm not about to downgrade my screen for some swag. For people without that option it might be worth the extra fun, but when my choice is between an average screen+swag or the real deal imax, the choice is obvious. I know what I'm here for.
Kylo Ren is no Sith Lord, in fact, I don't think he will even get to that level and Snoke knows it.

Kylo is a lover, not a fighter
Kylo is a lover, not a fighter
This makes me uncomfortable
Wasn't Lyra Erso force-sensitive?
This fan event shit is total bullshit, like, just because I don't want to spend double the price of a ticket then I'm not a "fan" enough and will watch the movie an hour later. It's even more bullshit if I end up missing out on a Han Solo preview.

I noted that it "severely injures" the theory of Luke leaving Rey on Jakku, since there are only so many plausible reasons why Luke would choose to abandon a little girl on a desert planet before his spirit had been broken by Ben's betrayal.
