Starhawk Leaked Screenshots [Grainy Video]

Good thing you didnt overreact before we saw real gameplay.

New maps and weapons is my guess what we are going to see. Give them time to show the game before you get out the torches

Eh, I think it's pretty telling that the people who are excited by these screens are people I've never seen in the official Warhawk thread, and who've probably played less than 10 hours total in the game. Granted, I haven't been in the thread since it's heyday, but I could still name a few posters off the top of my head who, like me, were REALLY into the game. I don't see those people drooling over these screens, either.

I'm in the 'new maps and players' is more than enough group.

Warhawk is perfection.

Please no customizable loadouts.

I was in the GAF clan for a while.
While I liked Warhawks original look, if they can capture the same gameplay and add new twists like mechs (or mechs that turn into warhawks!) then I'm in.

I've played 700 hours and I really fail to see how these 4 tiny screenshots indicate that this is such a horrible deviation from the original. Everything in these shots looks like something from Warhawk, with a slightly different art style. We haven't even seen the air combat yet. We've seen nothing and you're already freaking out.

I guess im just more excited that its finally getting announced ;\ . And I guess we should just wait until tomorrow and get the full reveal. I mean the game is called Starhawk..not warhawk..so it was expected to see something different

I can't see them ditching the gameplay which imo is the most important.

The second image kind of throws me off...what is that guy supposed to be?

I know you are worried...but its like how it was with Motorstorm. I have every Motorstorm still. I haven't traded any of them in. They all look different and they have a different atmosphere..but with similar and in some cases improved gameplay.

If this is the route they are taking with this game, then that is fine with me because I can always go back to Warhawk 1 for that dimension.

A new faction? A character from the single-player? It's possible that all four screens are from the single-player portion of the game and aren't at all representative of multiplayer gameplay.

Screens doesn't look super nice, but you know what? This game WILL end up being the best, just like Warhawk.

If your argument is based on a haphazard mental survey of which posters are saying what in which threads, you need to rethink some shit.

And not everyone agrees with you that a sequel should be the same game as the previous one plus more maps.

Fuck the haters! Judging STARHAWK for a few pictures?! Really?! We are talking about the sequel of one of the most FUN games ever, keyword FUN.

That's what I wanted from a name like Starhawk...
Dunno what you guys expected.

Launching from a planet into space and having epic space battles. Well, that's what my hype/imagination wanted before I toned it down a few days ago! ;)

I love the overreactions off of 4 screen shots. People are making some serious judgments before seeing a second of footage. Lets all just calm down and wait a bit.
SO HYPED

they wanted the moon, they wanted their deepest fantasies and they like to complain when next to nothing has been revealed yet

Nothing we've seen so far excludes giant space battles.
There were giant battles in the clouds in the original.

I can't believe there are some people that think that Warhawk has a better artstyle than what is shown in these first screen shots. The game was gross looking and bland, the only time it really looked good was when you were screaming past the environments in Warhawks.

These first few screens look pretty freakin awesome. Can't wait to see it in action, and I hope they still have four-player splitscreen online!

Space battles. If there is no planet->space->another planet connection with battles between them, I'm disappointed.

Why on earth do people want space battles? It removes ground combat entirely, and that was a huge part of the original (PS3) Warhawk. Space combat would mean no tanks, jeeps, or infantry.

Please no.

Pfft, clouds. Too low man.

In my head, I was thinking of a three tiered system.

Plane One - Ground based.
Plane Two - Aerial Combat (Starhawks can fight on this plane or fly up to the next plane)
Plane Three - Space. Exclusive objectives up here for Starhawks.

In my head it was awesome. Splitscreen would have been awesome. I'd be flying around in space to capture the space station/Ion Cannon and the guys below would be capturing territory/bases.

Don't pretend like that wouldn't be fuck awesome.

In any case, I'd toned down my hopes by a long margin. I'm still open to being surprised. I'm not going to judge the gameplay from the screenshots, but I do not like the artstyle.

Yes, because there can't be many players to where ground and space combat happens, right?

*rolls eyes* If it can't do that, then the Eve FPS will. Whatever.

I said it earlier but people just ignored it or didn't see it. I think that the NPC's are a big giveaway that it's just singleplayer screens.

Your logic is no better than anyone else's and you need to not post things that make it sound like you know something other people don't.

Well, that's still possible, but those would be some huge maps for the PS3 to run.

Space stations, asteroids, moons.

The inclusion of space battles does not preclude other means of combat.

I played Warhawk for hundreds of hours and those screenshots make me confused and excited as HELL at the same time.

Countdown until gameplay (hopefully a lot of MP).

Gotta agree with this. Warhawk is NOT a looker. People love it for lots of reasons, and have spent a lot of time with it so the visuals and design have grown on them over the years, but the characters are boring and ugly and the vehicles (other than the Warhawks) just looked like prototypical tanks and jeeps and the graphics were largely brown and gray (nice skyboxes though). There was very little that was special about Warhawk's visual design. It was just a great game.

Yeah. I'd reasoned that out by having a 'hyperspace button' where you wouldn't manually fly out of the atmosphere, but see a pre-canned animation sequence that takes you up there.

Alternatively, a different take on the KZ3 Operations Mode.

Enemy forces fight over objectives on the ground and air (Warzone Style) and the winners get to take control of the 'Starhawks' and lead an attack on the enemy starship just outside the atmosphere. The enemies are put into Starhawks too flying around in space. Its then like an epic X-wing vs Tie Fighter section where one side has to attack objectives and the other side defend for their life.

Anyway, I can't wait to wake up tomorrow and see what's in store for me. It'll be fun regardless.

I cant be the only one that actually HOPES there is no singleplayer? Focus 100% on mp and make it the 2nd best mp game ever (behind warhawk)

Also apparently im the only one hoping there isnt different spaces/space station stuff. I think its just going to be warhawk reskinned with space stuff

Not overly impressed but can't wait to see footage.

I swear, if this game has "kill X amount of people to turn flight mode on" I will fucking flip.

What I liked about Warhawk besides its gameplay was its blending of past, present and future. I loved the realistic and modern Eucadian clothing and vehicles mixed with the more advanced, sci-fi Chernovan gear. All the while, it had a WWII feeling which sort of felt like Killzone light if you think about it (asthetically and thematically).

What I see in these screens doesn't really have an identity. Sure, "it's just 4 screens" and they're leaked, but they'd still be shown at some point to show off the game. Guess I need some context. Random, close-ups of run of the mill action scenes isn't exactly showing me what this game is... so why are they even in the portfolio?

EDIT- Actually, I don't mind what I see now tha I've seen the pics on a bigger screen.

Agreed. SP is all but confirmed but to me its a waste. MP is what defined Warhawk. Why change now?

Don't town it down, this is the only way for Starhawk! The video even says it, they make games by looking at what gamers would like to play on the couch, can't back down from that, nope

I've been expecting space-based fighting, so I guess it isn't what I expected, but I'll reserve judgment until we see video and can really see what the game is all about...

Because Warhawk was supposed to have a single player mode. It just wasn't panning out like they thought it would so they dumped it.

Damn that looks hot. Do want.

Put many hours into Warhawk back in the day but lost interest after picking up COD4 where all my friends were playing. I'll almost certainly be jumping back in with Starhawk.

Roll on tomorrow night!

So it's Warhawk with a sci-fi light sprinkling. :/

What on earth were you expecting? It's called Starhawk lol

I can't believe how disappointed some people get from announcement like this that is exactly what everyone was pretty much told to expect lol.

I do think it's funny though. People had this exact same reaction with the first inFAMOUS 2 screens ("not what I was expecting :("), along with plenty of other Sony first-party games upon first look....

...then trailers come out and the game starts wrapping up, and people get excited.

Eh, these screens are pretty boring. Dull dim lighting, mishmash art style, assets that seem cobbled together from any number of other games. Pretty underwhelming, I guess I was also expecting some space combat, or space to planet transitions or something. Hopefully the real reveal will blow some socks off.
