For those saying it doesn't play like Warhawk, you couldn't be more wrong.

Random answers to questions posted:

Also, yes, you can attach turrets and beam weapons to the walls.

Don't make too many judgements about specifics like tanks etc, as they only showed a small slice of what will be there.

You do NOT play as Emmett in multiplayer, simply as a member of one of the factions.

Not to "whore," but we actually answer a lot of these questions in our coverage on our site and in the podcast.
Can you play the multiplayer mode against bots? Didn't see that mentioned in your article.

I wonder if the buildings that fall from the sky squish anyone under them, hah.

They do. You can actually use them as weapons against walking hawks and stuff.

it does. you can crush people and even mech hawks. also, you respawn by using lifepod dropped from the sky and you can control it a bit so you can drop right on top of people if you're good enough, although if you're missed, you'll be sitting duck when you're out of your pod.

I think what's really worth mentioning is the gameplay variety implied in all this. Base-building, ground combat, driving combat, flight... Maybe it's not so standout because Warhawk was also varied, but now add to that a single-player component, base-building, and fucking space battles! How can you not be hype?

Someone in the other thread said there's no server lists? So much bullshit man. Game looks good and everything else in terms of features is great but why the fuck do they always skimp out on arguably the most important one?

I can't stand matchmaking so much. The entire point of server lists are to build a community so you go to the rooms where you know certain people often play in, and you learn how those people play and build a community in those rooms. Matchmaking-ONLY completely ruins that and is just random killing random people. So fucking dumb.

It's hard to tell. Might be that, or just two different pain jobs.

Loook at it I'm pretty sure it is, the rear hawk has tail fins pointing up and the lead has fins pointing down.

now I know why they called this game StarHawk

Starcraft+Warhawk=StarHawk

You get to control your own Viking :D

do we know if it's matchmaking only? I know they have matchmaking although I haven't heard about no server list.

You are looking at the damaged one from the bottom in that pic.

Planes looks quite similar in the other pic.

Perhaps Torgo can shed some light?

Well that's really disappointing...It doesn't look like Warhawk at all.
I'm not sold on it yet either. While I loved Warhawk to pieces, something about this title just doesn't jive with me. I'm pretty sure it's the overly gritty art style (it reminds me of Red Faction Guerrilla) but I'll reserve judgment until I actually play it.

I was hoping it would have the "Warhawk look" .. so a little let down by that. But daym the game looks good in motion.

how awesome is it to come home and have this confirmed, still on the 3min mark of the video but man im sold.
im disappointed this will be a 2012 launch though.

FUCK AWESOME

the only thing I'm not liking here are the colors and art style...... so... ugly :(

I personally love it. It's miles better than the old Warhawk one and does a good job at merging the western with the futuristic with the alien.

Sony's lineup for 2011 is already filled to the brim. Makes sense to have something for the next year. How disappointing would it be to have a year like 2011 followed by a year with nothing?

Looks like I was right to be optimistic, from what I've seen, the game looks to be fantastic. The RTS bit looks especially interesting; I've been waiting for there to be a game to incorporate those sort of elements since C&C Renegade.

The art style looks a lot better in motion as well, I'm especially loving the spacey-Western type setting. And space battles too, Lightbox could be onto a winner here if they can get the balance right (and put in server lists).

Dont really care about build and battle at all. Actually..kind of hate that idea. I dont need buildings being dropped out of the sky. I can see people just using dropping buildings as a way of taking out enemy vehicles

But ill give it a shot. 2012? You fail me!

And how are we ~300 posts into this thread and I'm still the only person who thinks this game looks like Red Faction Guerrilla?

I pointed that out when the screens were first unveiled. That was 2 threads ago.

Been mentioned numerous times in previous threads.

Watching some of the videos of the warhawks flying makes me want to play now qq

last Red Faction I played was the first one for the PS2- so I couldn't tell ya... :D

This sounds like Firefly + Robotech + RTSish things thrown in. I'm not sure if I'll be hyped for this by the time it comes around next year.

If they dont have an open beta or at least let me play before next year, i may have to beat dylan down

also..now i want to play warhawk. come on psn!

Not a fan of the art style. I like the fantasy look of Warhawk. This looks almost like Gears. Looks like the ground combat plays completely different now.

And every map is just a barren landscape? No buildings or anything?

I'm not sure if it has been posted already (or if it is even allowed to be posted), but IGN just posted their insightful preview of the game which, as usual manages to live up to the IGN standard of quality.

Within seconds of the starting the Starhawk reveal video I'm blown away. Not just by the game itself, but by how much risk Sony is taking with it. Abandoned is the art style and universe of the Warhawk franchise Starhawk is building on. Instead, Starhawk is going in a decidedly Western direction. On top of that, Sony's giving this PlayStation 3 exclusive title – one the company is hoping to develop into a new franchise – to Lightbox Interactive, an unproven studio based in Austin, Texas. Add to this its unorthodox lead character and its new focus on single player, and the chance for disaster or outright rejection by fans looks about as likely as people digging it as much as I did.

Anyways, the game looks amazing as far as I am concerned. The team knows what they are doing, and stronger backing from Sony (compared to Warhawk) should help beef up the already superb multiplayer from Warhawk. I can't wait to see more at E3.

Yes, all two of the maps we've been shown are barren landscape.

wow. sure, it's technically a new name/studio, but they're the same people that made Warhawk. IGN fails once again.

Ugh. Can't say I'm liking where they're going. As it stands my interest level is now at a 1 out of 10 where as it was close to 10 before.
