This sounds like it would be awful with randoms, but make for some great GAF vs. GAF games.
woolley said:That sounds awful...I don't want to be forced to play private/clan matches just to have a good time in a game and not worry about someone else ruining the game for me.
I think I just might stick to Warhawk.

everything could take out everything in warhawk. Including just a rifleman if the warhawk driver sucked. These guys know their shit.coolcole93 said:Try telling that to Guerilla Games.

this shit is going to amazing! I had no idea. I love how these studios are still bringing fresh ideas. I don't think people realize how big this is. This might be the most addicting game ever if it's all implemented correctly.
Infamous 2 + Uncharted 3 + Starhawk might be a trifecta in an amazing Sony exclusive gaming experience. I mean each have something special about them and I can easily just transition between all three of them. It makes me sad how people will still be playing FPSs when they have stuff like this (BF3 will be great though).
I'm almost as impressed this idea as with Modnation Racer's customization gameplay and solid racing gameplay (which resulted in the best race tracks i've ever played out of any kart racer including diddy kong racing and the mario kart series).
anonymousAversa said:Yeah. To be honest the story and changes in art style make me want to puke.
Was anyone else sitting there besides me going "rift energy? Really?"
I feel that some aspects of the visuals they updated, but a lot of the particle effects seem very last-gen. In general when you combine the bland, "space mining facility" darker art style, you loose all the glorious bright visual aspects I love about Warhawk.
I loved the skybox in Eucadia. I loved the crystal clear water. This looks like they took that pristine environment and muddied it up with this space mining crap. I'm not into it at all. But I know the gameplay will be fun, and as long as we have dogfighting with some sort of aircraft, I'll probably enjoy it.

But it's not just balancing, it's also that there's a chance that I or someone else won't be able to play the game how they want to just because one person or a group of people want things a certain way. One of the great things about Warhawk is being able to play the way you want and not worry about ruining the game for someone else or someone ruining it for you just because of how you play. The Lamp said:Everybody thinks they've thought of things before Lightbox has.
You don't think they've taken these considerations into mind? They're great at balancing.

I remember everyone complaining when they changed it, no clue why they didn't change it back.UnblessedSoul said:I loved this theme, any reason why they changed it ruining it? Anyway looks forward to starhawk, space battles awww yeaaa
TTP said:You are comparing the style of one map of Starhawk against the maps you liked the most in Warhawk.
I guess there will be the same diversity in Starhawk.

Oh, I'm not that informed about stars. I had envisioned a nebula of stars and being able to traverse through that. But, yeah, space dust would be pretty neat.distrbnce said:lol, you mean colony wars-esque space dust? 'cause stars won't work like that.
Port the XMB sprinkles?
That sounds dangerous. I'd rather have it be individual building.Irish said:That PSNation article is pretty interesting.
So, heres the biggest change in the multiplayer, your team doesnt start with any vehicles, and limited weapons. There are no more weapon pickups strewn across the map (except for whats dropped by fallen friends and enemies.) Instead, you start with a certain amount of Rift Energy, shared completely by your team. You use this energy as currency to build everything that you need. So if youre on a team of randoms that all decide to build 5 4×4 garages, youll run out of currency VERY quickly. This one will require the players to definitely play as a team when it comes to resource management, because if you cant be effective with what youre building, youve already lost the match.

The more Rift energy you have, from completing tasks the bigger things you can create for yourself. So saving energy has an incentive that helps the whole team.
It takes seconds to make them.fixuis said:Okay definitely not liking that ps nation article. One of the best things about warhawk is it's fast paced start to a game, who the he'll wants to wait around for garages to be built and then Vehicles spawning? Not to mention the fact what if the randoms on your team don't build garages? That kind of dependancy, not cool. Also, if there aren't any weapon pickups, what were those we saw in the video a few pages back?
Those were schematics for new buildings. Only Hawks have weapon pickups.fixuis said:Also, if there aren't any weapon pickups, what were those we saw in the video a few pages back?
From what I got they are also used as your vehicle spawns and turrets.Angry Fork said:I still don't know what the point is of being able to drop down buildings and stuff, like other than protect you from enemy fire and serve as a fort or something, what other purpose do they serve?

Angry Fork said:Nobody getting a Brutal Legend vibe in terms of trying too many things? I'm not sure i'm okay with the RTS stuff in multiplayer right now. I mean I do have faith they'll implement it fine but I don't want to have to be forced to do that stuff in order to have an advantage.

What's wrong with individual energy pools?
