That would be perfect. Get people to use PSN and get people to understand what Starhawk could be like.

They probably won't give away an online-only game after this -- especially if it hammers the hell out of a 5 year old game's servers.

But it would be awesome.

I've been having withdrawals not being able to play Warhawk these past couple of weeks. It's pretty much the one game I've manged to play consistently just about every week since it's release and not be bored with it. Can't wait to play soon.

i have seen the interview 5 times now.

EDIT: i just now realized that there is lighting coming down in the acid map... awesomeness

I still can't get over the artstyle. I loved the faux-WWII-inspired vehicle designs in Warhawk. It's a shame this won't continue in Starhawk (at least in what we've been shown so far).

Warhawks simply LOOK so much neater and have way more character than the planes in this game. The post above mine just establishes this further, with vehicles that look like they could've been taken from any number of games released this generation. It doesn't really have an "identity," so to speak. I just hope the "Western in space" theme doesn't preclude a number of various, non-desert locations. Again, just look towards Warhawk for inspiration on varied map design.

Once again, I ask, who the hell played Warhawk for its artstyle?
I thought the "faux-WWII-inspired" style was garbage, but that had absolutely zero effect on how fun the game was.

Pretty much. I wouldnt full on say it was garbage. But it wasnt great either... it was kind of a non-issue. When I was in a jeep with the flag being chased by two warhawks with a tank around the corner, I never really thought about how great the jeep was stylistically. It was just a jeep. There to get me from point a to point b. I would say that the visual style of warhawk was generally uninspired.

Well for how awesome the game was, I thought the art-style wasn't that awesome, so it just felt out of place. Haha.

Will probably pop in Warhawk tomorrow to get some playing in myself!

The art style of Warhawk was conceptually good but poorly realised

I wouldn't have minded them doing a better job with the faux-WWII stuff but it was hardly necessary

Guys, get some buddies and have one vs all. Have that one person not use open mic but enable all talk. Now have the team with the majority of players pick one of the center bases, one with access from all sides. Have the lone player infiltrate that base using stealth or by any means necessary. Other players can't leave the base. Holy shit is it amazing and suspenseful. Just played like that with a couple friends. We didn't use vehicles so that may be more enjoyable. No tow missiles or anything like that.

i dont like how the hawke mech mode leaves the person exposed at the very top....its just looks so ugly.....i hope theres more mech reveals in the coming months.

day 1 purchase for sure!

I think that was done on purpose. Maybe to give players an oppertunity to snipe them.

Anyone want to organise a proper game within the next few hours?

I'm up for it (two slots cos I can play splitscreen).

To expand:

Lets call this mode "Solo Sneaking Mission".
-1 player on one side while the remaining players are on the other. (*allow for unbalanced teams when creating a game)
- The defending team should have open mic on while the solo player should turn it off. This allows the solo player to hear the chatter but also taunt the opposing team when applicable. (*make sure you enable all talk)

Now, the defending team needs to take a base that is open all around it. Home base is a no no. The team is restricted to that base and must patrol all access areas waiting for the intruder. Is he sneaking up with a knife? Targeting you froma distance with a sniper rifle? Planting mines sneakly in your base? Are you sure you're well enough hidden in case he does have his sights on you? What goes through you mind adds so much suspense that you can't help but laugh it off. At least that's how it was when I played with a couple buddies. Can't wait to play more.

I'd suggest sneaking be the only option. Coming in with a warhawk or tank and bullying your way to take over the base isn't fun. Part of the fun comes from not knowing where you're coming from. Get to the base how ever you want, but just don't enter the base in a vehicle. It could also be used to draw attention to a certain area if you had an alternate route in mind. No tow missiles and no binocs, btw.

Just make sure you play it.

Sounds fun though, just gotta get everybody organised and cooperative.

Yeah. I miss MGO too. I'd get obliterated if I played that again right now.

Well I played with personal friends and family so it probably works better than random people gathered from wherever. If there's an organised clan though, I'd highly recommend it if ever bored (yeah right) of the tried and true wh gameplay.

I don't know about this space shit. Warhawk was my favorite PS3 game ever, and this is a complete turn in a different direction. Really hating that transformer plane too.

The simple fact that it isn't Warhawk 2 is turning people off initially, but I'm going to reserve judgement until I get my hands on it.

I am looking forward to more gameplay videos at E3 and more information (i.e. server lists? dedicated servers?)

Joke post?

I always used to play Zones, never ctf. Playing a little ctf now...could you always capture the flag flying in a warhawk? cuz thats the cheapest thing ever

You're playing on a special server. FCTF. Means flying with the flag is allowed.

You can turn on the option to turn on fly-with-flag when creating a game. I barely played those games, didn't like it. Most official servers didn't have that option on.

Playing Warhawk now,and I hope the goggles dont make a return they are cheap. also the on foot combat looks vastly improved in Starhawk.

The airstrike goggles are my favorite weapon of all-time and I can't fucking wait to get online later and use them again for the first time in months

SSSSSSSSSSSS BOOM

Echoing the return to Warhawk. Hopefully Starhawk starts you out with a better weapon. In a lot of cases I am spawning and getting owned because I have a severe disadvantage with the pistol.

Absolutely love the game though. I really hope jetpacks are a standard item in Starhawk and that most of the warhawk weapons make a return in some form or other.

I'd like to see both factions be able take control of weapon emplacements and vehicles regardless of who spawns them. There is something great about stealing the last warhawk from an enemy territory, turning around and killing the people at the spawn point then hopping out and capturing the zone!

I wonder if maps in Starhawk will have neutral weapon and vehicle zones that can be captured in the traditional way, or if everything will rely on team building. Hopefully it will be the former so that maps can be balanced and still afford strong players on weaker teams some options for turning the tide. Or perhaps building structures will be like C&C where you can only build structures within a certain radius of a power source. Then maps would still be about gaining control of critical zones, but the type of base built at those areas would be up to the team.

Its over power no way to escape for it and it only takes a few seconds.

Thanks. I didnt think that seemed right. Oh my god zones is so amazing. I forgot how fun this game is (well when youre winning) Won at least 4 in a row, so good

But yeah, why would you want to play FCTF? So ridiculous. They had 10 captures in like 2 minutes

My brother and I loved "flying" the flag to the base in CTF by having one person grab the flag and stand on the wing of a plane while the other hovered straight up, as high into the atmosphere as possible, and then slowly go straight forward back to base, and then slowly lower, straight down, letting the flag-bearer off the wing to score a point. We did this to an epic degree in Vaporfield and Island; you could see people scouring the grounds for us down below, thinking the flag was there. No one ever suspected we were transporting it on a Warhawk's wing many miles above them!

Sadly, such shenanigans won't be possible in Starhawk, but I suspect that with airdrops and myriad other new features added to the mix, we'll discover plenty of NEW hilarity. :)

thats not true at all. Plenty of ways. Run the fuck out of range and they cant follow you (cant move or it goes back down) or take a warhawk or hide in a bunker. I mean it IS a certain death if they do get it on you but you can know when you are being targeted (not always tho)

but yeah point is scape while it loads.4

I wish people were hosting DLC servers. I barely got to play any of those maps.

I threw one up, I dont know any good playlists or whatever but "dlc" is my server playing the 3 maps. 24 players

My warhawk skills eroded...played a few rounds, such a good game.

Mine had as well, but after a couple hours the rust was starting to wear off. I got first overall a couple of times. I think I am now readdicted and intend to play heavily again. So much fun!

FCTF was CTF for people who otherwise only fly. It's incredibly fun if the game has good pilots on both sides and even more faster paced than regular CTF. Also it brings out of the best of flag defenders/campers.

And talking about flying, I hope they haven't dumbed it down. It looks like there's just one flight mode this time, but some are saying the maneuvers now look "pre-packaged" (like barrel rolls being button triggered) instead of free form and powersliding/drifting looks auto when making sharp turns instead of L2+R2.

If that is true, and there is no "manual" mode, that will be a major downer. Can't wait to get some more detailed info on flight.

What they showed was was basically normal flight. I too hope, as someone who never used normal flight, that the pro-filight mechanics are an option.

From what I heard you still control the maneuvers with the right stick.

your point being? you said it yourself. what we have seen of Starhawk.... which is only 2 maps.

you're fighting a losing battle man, they do this with every game and they shall do this with starhawk. just let them think what they want to think.
