Steam Greenlight: 1000 games and counting, more Greenlit every few weeks

So even when green lighting 100 games, they left out presumably around a dozen or so games that were in the top 100:

Valve never hided the fact that greenlight was just helping the ppeople there to choose and it was not the final word on what indie titles would be greenlighted

Working on some extra Steam content for Cook, Serve, Delicious! including one game changing option-

Man it feels great to have the reason to go back and add stuff like this. Anyways sorry for that, I'm just super excited for the Steam release. :D

Congratulations!

It'll be greenlit soon enough.

It seems like they intentionally chose a lot of older submissions. By clearing out a lot of old stuff from the top 100, new games will hopefully be able to go through Greenlight faster from now on.

Well as far as work goes, it's really based on how much work I want to put in. I could just put the game up now, but I want to support achievements, playing cards, etc. The tools are very simple and nicely handled by their web tools and Game Maker Studio. Shouldn't take me more than a week total.

But I don't have total control over the release of the game; everything needs to be approved by Valve first (as far as if you're achievements are correctly inputted, do you have the right graphical assets for your webpage on Steam, etc.). I'm not really sure how fast that is at this point. Guess we'll see!

Thanks. Hopefully that last process doesn't take too long, though I wouldn't be surprised if it did given this is Valve and they've just greenlit so many games.

I'm also interested to see how long it takes to get the trading cards implemented. Feep submitted Sequence's cards over a month ago but they still haven't been included, so I imagine there's quite a backlog right now.

Question: would you guys and gals upvote games that are not yet completed, but, say, 90%?

I mean, not Kickstarter GLs, obviously.

I upvote a lot of unreleased games, hell most of the games on there aren't complete... On Greenlight I don't think it makes much difference whether the game is complete, unless I have already played it somewhere else I am basing it off the video/screens and the description. If it looks and sounds like a game I might be interested in then I will upvote it.

Of course if the game is super early then they have the concepts category.

If they provide a playable demo then I do, otherwise I wait and revisit it later. Too many games have been Greenlit already that aren't even close to done and it sucks that takes the spot of someone else. If they have a playable demo they are letting people try then at least I know they are serious about getting the game shipped (theoretically, of course).

So basically what I'm hearing is a video and a demo (which is doable, but the game is so short, I dunno what that would look like yet).

Video is doable, just our VO has yet to be edited. We have a crapton of screenshots.

Nope.

Soft Launch on our site is the 1st.

I'd like to give another shout out to The Yawhg, a random-event-do-things-in-a-fantasy-town simulator which has beautiful art and completely insane writing

Me and a few friends played a few games of it the other day. My fiancee every time kept deciding to camp out the hospital until she got the crazy magical disease and ended up blowing up a different part of the city each time.

At one point a friend of mine danced with a dryad but did it so badly the dryad thanked him for his attempt and limped off, but he got +1 finesse for the practice!

There's not much "game" there but it's absolutely brilliant what it does do, and your choices may affect yourself (or other players) on subsequent weeks. One game we managed to pollute the water supply with both magical waste AND leeches so things were pretty bad later on.

I saw a few minutes of it at TCAF and had to buy it right there, and I'm trying to get as many people as possible to greenlight it because this shit's great man

Thanks for the impressions :). Haven't seen any as of yet and it's a shame. The game looks beautiful and the gameplay promising. I'm thinking of picking up a copy now instead of release.

What is Higurashi?

(warning this is scenes from the anime based on the game just greenlit. it contains spoilers and gore, and violence and blood and anger.... aka NSFW, not safe for those who can't stand people getting killed ect)This is Higurashi (there is more to it, but that is what it is known for lol)

YAY!! for World of Diving being Greenlit. I spent quite a bit of time and effort on drumming up support for it (note: not a dev, only a fan).

I voted for Gimbal ages ago. It was an incredibly ambitious multiplayer space shooter even back then. Glad to see they're still digging through the backlog.

It feels like I've been waiting years for Long Live the Queen to get greenlit, after it got passed over in the last batch despite being in the top 100 I was starting to think it'd never make it. Better late than never I suppose.
