I was an original member, until I loaned my account to a (real life) "friend" who promptly got it banned by cheating in Counter Strike. :|

My new account has been active since 2007, when I decided to get the Orange Box.

EXACT same situation as me, lolz.

2007, ehh.

I have an older account from the HL2 days but gave that account to my brother (who then went and made his own account, later)

Pssh, that ain't shit. A guy in my Steam friends list owns over 1000 games.

Yeah, some people have some sort of Super Account that gets them the majority of Steam games for free, and they're lists are just ridiculous (of course, some have done it with their own cash, too, I'm sure).

Far from it and he may have some F2P games there but who knows >>
My count went from just over 100 to over 400 thanks to people gifting me developer catalogs from the last year's holiday sale (and I haven't played most of those games). Mainly from my late brother :\

I'm only responsible for a fraction of that stuff and have yet to install/play most of it.

I have a friend who bought Counter Strike at least three times, getting banned for cheating each time, until he finally learned his lesson and bought it again. This was on his own account, so whatever.

I think it has to do with feedback others can leave after they have played with you. I dunno...that's the only thing that makes sense and I honestly never noticed it before I posted that picture.

That's definitely not it because mine's usually 9 or 10 and I don't play online games.

I'm 90% sure it has to do with how many hours you've put in during the 2 weeks it shows right underneath. I'm assuming it's being compared to everyone else on a 1-10 scale.

Since my gpu died I've been catching up with older/possible-to-play things on my 7600GS. Not a bad trade-off. I've been crossing a lot of good games that way.

I think I first made the Steam account a bit after HL2 came out.

Within a week it will hit 5 million >.<!

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd.

It could easily hit 6 if they just released 1million more DOTA beta invites!

The 2009 Xbox Live record that people kept quoting was actually for unique players in one day, not concurrent players.

For Modern Warfare 3, Activision actually released the numbers for concurrent players on Xbox Live, which is the new record for a single game: 1.4 million.

Playing time: 47.1 hrs past 2 weeks

I got Half Life 2 and Battlefield Vietnam for Christmas 2004. I remember having activation problems with Half Life 2, was so pissed that's all I wanted to play that morning. Got it sorted out around Noon that day and me and my brother proceeded to embark on one of the most memorable video game experience and story ever made. <3 Valve and Steam so much.

Why are you people lending your own account?
He was broke, and wanted to play Counter Strike. I never used my account, at the time.

I had no idea he was going to cheat, let alone on my account.

Definitely learned my lesson, though.

I always assumed that Gabe, being omnipresent, observes each and every one of us and personally rates us based on our worthiness as a Steam user.

This makes me want to start posting mangled, nonsensical Bible-quotes, like "it's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a Riccitello to enter the kingdom of Half-Life".

I wonder if consoles will copy steam and offer all games on release available for DL as well, would be interesting, its so convenient though + eco-friendly(er).

Eh they'd probs make it some kind of subscription service or charge some made up extra fee. Kinda interested in seeing what Nintendo do with Wii U, so bitter towards them after 2 generations of disappointment in that department.

Unfortunately consoles still need to be sold somewhere, and b&m retailers are terrified of digital distribution making them completely redundant, so they'll wield that power like a stick with which to beat console makers for as long as the can get away with it.

I have three Steam accounts.

The first account was created back in 2003, when Steam went public with CS 1.6.
The second account was created a year or two later, when said first Steam account was hijacked and subsequently banned for cheating (back then, VAC bans weren't permanent but for a year).
My third and current account was created in February 2006, as I gave my two previous accounts to mates so they could play Counter-Strike.

I can't access the two earlier accounts as both of my mates have lost the log-in information. I do remember the e-mail tied to my first account, however it belongs to my long-former ISP, the username of which is in use by somebody else. Every now and then I try to sign up for a dial-up account with the username for the simple purpose of resetting my Steam password, but alas.

Anywho, current stats:

Held out installing Steam until HL2, then caved like everyone else. Trying to remember that far back, I don't think I ever played CS past 1.5 because of Steam.
