Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope They Bleed Pixels C++ is released soon, I can't play the current game due to the weird XNA issue with Windows 7 64 bit slowing down the game.
 
Honestly, I sold the cards until I randomly decided to see if I could get They Bleed Pixels fully leveled up since I love the aesthetics of the game, and then I got more into it, and now I am afraid.
 
This whole card thing is going way over my head, I have no idea what they are or what they're for. In fact, I had never heard of them before up until the Steam sale began and I got a couple of them in my inbox.

At first I thought they were games. I was like "holy shit did I just get Dead Island Riptide AND Chivalry?", but no. No I did not.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world that uses Steam as a store and game launcher. I've disabled all of the social hogwash and other stuffs. As long as my Steam rating is good...
 
I hate that Steam is getting cluttered with that bullshit. I hated TF2 for it and now Steam. :(

Valve went from one of my fav developers to a company I shake my head at more and more.

Watch the latest Bosman show on GT. He talks about this and how some peoples brains are entertained by leveling up and collecting stupid little trinkets without actually doing anything fun.

OP, have you tried Farmville. Might be up your alley. Same kind of collecting, etc etc.
 
About £30 selling cards (and haven't landed a single foil, at all). No regrets, I am selling everything I get (and bought a cheap background just to spice up my profile) to buy even more games.

Can someone explain to me how people are making money from this? I use steam every day but I have no idea what the fuck is going on with the cards an all this other shit.
 
I understand your feelings.

I have installed games I have not played only to get the cards,atleast the cards have been a good incentive for trying my backlog

Also I have been days trading and buying items for Dota2, but I have played only one game in the last week I think so.

Feels like I'm surrounded by addicts. Wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to deal with progress bars being shoved into so many games.
 
I've never solod anything on steam. I once tried to sell some TF2 items that I got from pre-ordering Bioshock Infinite but apparently those can't be put on the market. Is there another way?

lol you know I just realized what the thread was about after re-reading everything. I had initially looked at the thread and though it said suggest a f2p game on steam. Then saw it was about the whole trading card addition.

At least related to the topic I managed to get a bunch of warframe cards but no idea how. I really should read up on the trading card system, since now kinda want to play some of the other supported titles and see what else I can get

It looks like you can sell them or something make a few cents / dollars depending on the cards. :D

You idle in games that have cards, you get a few cards for each game, then sell them for a few cents each.

I find myself liking Steam a lot less since all this stuff got implemented. I'm becoming kinda anti-Steam.

I probably just need to turn game notifications off since my friends are constantly launching games with the sole purpose of making like 20 cents.

All that stuff hasn't gotten its hooks in me. It's neat for those who want it, but I go back to steam for the excellent interface and friends/chat integration. I'm purchasing most of my games elsewhere now too.

I have a nearly full friends list filled with people doing this and I dont see how this could possibly be annoying enough to make you anti-Steam.
