Steelseries Arctis 7X

Let me tell you this, if you're looking for a headset which does anything almost excellent (sound wise), looks great, feels comfortable and light don't look further. This is the headset to have on the Xbox Series X. I truly like them, and the EQ app gives you the right versatility to change the settings for your liking.

What do you rock on the Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5?

I've been tempted I was very close to buying the 9x. I wanted the 9x for the Bluetooth option but I keep forgetting I already have a pair of galaxy buds plus.

Achillias Achillias what's the app like?

The 7x has a dongle don't they 😑

Most time I just use the headphone jack on the dual sense controller but I do have an arctis 7 for party chatting.

The dongle is exactly what makes it great. It can connect to your pc, PlayStation, mobile phone, Nintendo console. While keeping it wireless.

Micro-USB is a no-go for me sorry.

I ended up going with the Arctis One Wireless. One thing that is driving me nuts if that is automatically detects and assigns the headset and because of that it won't let me select atmos for my home theatre without unplugging the dongle.

Other than that it's been great. Hopefully a fix is coming.

I recently bought the Arctis 7P because I main the PS5 (also got the Series X, but barely play that). I would've gotten the 7X but their advertising was barebones in terms of Temptest 3D audio support on X-branded headphones.
Figured I'd just go 7P (the PlayStation models) and use one of the adapters to hook it up to the Series X controller.

Tempest 3D audio" isn't proprietary when it comes to headphones. Basically all stereo headphones back to the 1970s supports 3D audio.

I have the 7x and also love them

they really, really shine with Dolby atmos

I strongly recommend purchasing the license

I'd love to buy them but I can't find them anywhere in Canada. The only place is directly from SteelSeries but they want $40 to ship them to Canada.

They are not great for music and the bass is quite flabby but they are pretty decent for the price. Also side note. If you find them too tight or loose you can take off the metal band and shape it, torch it and paint it in about 20 minutes to fit better.

Sound is very subjective. But also game headsets are mostly not ment to use for other things then gaming. And for that alone, music sound great on them if you compare it to other gameheadsets in that price range.

For the best overall audio quality I recommend the Beyerdynamics DT 990 Pro (250ohm if your system can manage)

You may need an amplifier if your system cant manage the required 250ohm but trust me it will be worth it.

It brings excellent audio quality for music, movies and also for gaming. The only downside it has is that if a game has bad audio quality or is poorly mixed you will notice it instantly. Playing AC Valhalla with those is a struggle to my ears lol

Otherwise they are really awesome.

Look for small overstock and returns auctions around. My local one has steel series pretty much every week nib for 1/3 the price.

Nice schill thread. I have a Arctis 5 and hate it. The stupid little mixer doesn't work most of the time, the cord is constantly getting twisted, and it doesn't even sound better than my HyperX Cloud 2's, which are more comfortable. I've also had some brutal experiences with their customer service in regards to a keyboard. My other friends have also had problems with their Steelseries headsets. This company sucks.

they have a ton of drop and mic issues on series x though. That's why the 7x is a better buy. The dongle
Haven't had an issue with the mic and it's super easy pair and forget. Plus it work with switch and PC which is a plus I didn't expect.

Consider yourself lucky. I think It's on the Xbox side, the issues. Their wireless Not arctis fault .

As I said haven't had a single drama, everything works perfectly. I turn the headset on the console boots throw it on and game away. When I was looking for a new headset I didn't see any major problems with these online everywhere I looked people raved on about it. Thing is every product can fail or have a fault so seeing a small amount of complaints online isn't really anything new or concerning.

Coming from a owner of a pair they work perfectly.

All I see is people going for 7x because of the dongle. Like I said, it's xbox fault not arctis. The dongle uses its own connection. Don't take it personally. You got a good pair. There's a few Reddit's on it and I know of 3 people that had to return theirs. All on series x

I didn't buy the 7x because I wanted Bluetooth to my phone without the dongle as my phone has a off centred port. Otherwise I probably would of just bought them. Wouldn't they suffer from the same problem?, I'm assuming they connect to the Xbox via the same method?

Not taking it personally I just don't know what else to say other than I've had no dramas with mine and from the research I've done I did not notice anyones complaints about mic faults. May have missed them.. but as I said it's rare to find a product without a fault unfortunately.. overall this line of steel series headsets are great.

100% recommend SteelSeries - I have the Arctis 7 set, and they sound fantastic.

Have happily used a HyperX Cloud 2 for a long time. The wire is messed up by now and the microphone simply doesn't work. Might be time for a new one and seeing everyone praising this, it seems like a good replacement.

I have two questions regarding the Arctis 7X:
- Volume wheel: Is there some sort of notch, and indicator to know when you are at 0 between sound or speech?
- Mic: I see it's retractable (which I do not like at all in general, I prefer when the mic is integrated to the headphone (or just sticking out), personal opinion of course), can you leave it in the headphone and be heard properly or you really need to let it out to have a good quality when talking?

Mic: Sorry, don't know, always out when chatting.

The 7x were a great pick up IMO.
Comfort level is great
Sound quality is great (on both PS5 and XSX)
Charging port is a bummer (it is micro usb).
Overall great value and will use them.

I just got these: Razer Kaira Pro
Wireless sync with XSX (no dongle required)
Also have bluetooth for other devices
Has a USB C charging port.
The mic is removable
Have not given them a good run though so I cannot recommend them quite yet.
