Sadly due to being in the UK I can't view those videos, but I think my main issue especially with this series is Mamoru Miyano, HanaKana, Asami Imai and Kobayashi Yuu especially are four of my favourite voice actors overall. I love their voices so much and Kobayashi Yuu especially I have no idea how on earth she manages to change her voice to such extremes between roles.
It might originate from me not using subs anymore so I focus more on their voices to try and learn so it's somewhat become a more important thing to watch without dubs, but then again I've never been a huge fan of dubs even for languages I can't understand. I took a special disliking to the old Chinese martial arts films that used to be shown on TV dubbed, I think the poor quality of those put a stigma in my mind to unconditionally hate dubs
The only episode I watched dubbed was the OVA and I thought it was pretty strong given how spotty NA localisations have been in recent years. I actually just ordered the American Blu Rays from Amazon a week or two ago so I'll give the series a rewatch with the dub. That being said, the original Japanese for this particular series is so, so, so good.
In between bouts of playing Steins;Gate again on vita (it's free this month on Japanese PS Plus for anyone with a subscription), watching speedruns and writing down Japanese words I should've wrote down months ago I've been listening to this album.
I'll get around to adding all this stuff to the OP but if you can get hold of a copy from somewhere it's pretty good. It's just an album of all the OP/ED songs on disk 1 and all the character songs on disk 2. I've heard them all before, but them being on one convinient album is pretty cool.

The Japanese release was also 2.0 stereo. A lot of stuff gets 5.1 English dub mixes, but 5.1 Japanese tracks are often limited to theatrical features and OVAs.
I never played the VN and just finished watching the anime (incl. EP25/OVA) and movie yesterday.
The anime really grabbed me, unlike e.g. Cowboy Bebop which I watched some weeks ago. One of the most important aspects for me is having an actual overarching storyline and continuity which is apparent within every single episode, instead of having just some more or less randomly themed episode here and there and a couple overarching story episodes sprinkled throughout.
So in that regard Steins;Gate delivered completely.
Same goes for interesting characters, character development and the quality of the plot; again, this show delivers on that stuff very well. I'm especially pleasantly surprised at how concise this time travel aspect is. I mean you can always rip those things apart due to paradoxes, but S;G provides a nice framework of rules that seems to give it a lot of believability if you don't try too hard finding flaws.
The movie 'Looper' for example dealt with the whole topic terrible and that really takes me out of the experience if I quickly start thinking "this makes no sense".
As far as characters go: Great main protagonist with Rintarou. At first I wasn't sure what to think of his "I'm acting like a crazy guy" thing but it was actually very well justified within the story and somewhat funny, too. Kurisu, Mayuri and Itaru were also pretty great. Suzuha and Ruka decent and... can't really say that I like Moeka and Faris much. Those two seemed to have some rather weird/strong personalities that aren't well explained with backstory either in my opinion. I imagine the VN may improve upon that but yeh, for the anime alone, I thought their characters were too... extreme in a way.
Some more plot stuff I'll cover with spoilers:
I think the overarching plot was very well set up. Basically setting up the character relations really well in the first half and foreshadowing possible negative outcomes (episode 9 ending) and then have a pretty brutal and raw turnaround with episode 12, diving into the emotional troubles all this causes, for Rintarou especially
I really appreciate how in these anime shows you can actually have characters like Mayuri killed in episode 12 and ongoing. It's just something that you kinda feel wouldn't happen if it was e.g. an American show with the tone of the first half of episodes.
One aspect of the plot I don't particularly like is how the other characters keep those memories from the other world-lines. On the one hand, it kinda makes you feel real bad for e.g. Mayuri having to relive all her deaths in her dreams. I do however love this aspect that none knows/feels the time leaps except Rintarou and what this means for him. Having to struggle a bit more instead of just going "oh yeah, I kinda do remember this stuff" would've maybe been more interesting for me. It also makes the time-travel plot a bit more unbelievable. I especially dislike the movie's approach of trying to connect déjà-vus to this.
Speaking of which, the movie feels very weak in comparison to the anime. It has some nice scenes but... well the plot of Steins;Gate is obviously fit for an anime (even then having to be substantially cut down from the VN I suppose). If you want to do a single 90min movie then you'll most likely fail to come up with a plot even remotely as interesting or well thought through. The movie also shakes up that time-travel framework even more with Rintarou disappearing.
Anyways, overall a really, really great anime. Am probably going to discuss some more stuff about it in the coming days here in this thread.
Interesting to see this pop up as I marathoned from ep 6 to 25 on Sunday....great show. Love it to bits....but man....it got real dark REAL fast after the light and bubbly episodes!
Hobbysearch took forever to ship my Okabe and Makise figma, worst part is I ship them to my parents home and will be going back to school in a few days I prob wont get them in time.
Since I'm playing it through again I thought I'd make use of the screenshot function on the vita. I won't post any spoilery CG, but this is pretty much what the game looks like art wise. ^^
I'm not sure how huke designs such awesome characters and the location CG designers do it, but it's got such an amazing distinct art style I've not seen replicated in anything else. So nice <3

I went with Jlist at first, but then saw Rightstuf had it so cancelled and moved to them
And yes, the domestic blurays do have japanese audio and typically the japanese releases are always 2.0, so nothing is missing. It's been a thing forever.
Lol, last time I trusted JAST with a proper release date the entire experience was lol. Saya no Uta was supposed to have been released before AX'11 (according to PP), it didn't come out until AX'13. Hence why I'm so skeptical. I mean sure they already color proofed the LE box art, but I've learned to treat JAST's release dates with a grain of salt.
I really like Robotics;Notes and was planning to make this a Scientific Adventure series thread instead but since I haven't played the game yet I don't know enough about it to warrant adding it in, maybe if we get to proper community status I can do it since I do love the characters <3
The Steins;Gate tie in I thought was really cool too.

Yeah I did like the tie in though,
The VN is alot better, the anime was just extremely disappointing coming off of Steins;Gate for me.
It didn't have enough focus until the last few episodes imo.
Heard rumors that one of the next in the series will actually deal with the 2 groups going against each other.

Robotics;Notes for me is weird, I mean it's not as good as Steins;Gate was but it's still awesome.
If those rumours are true that'd be amazing. More Okabe/Kurisu/Mayuri/Daru x Akiho/Frau/Daitoku is good for me <3. I'm just waiting for the release date for the Vita Robotics;Notes since they said it was coming.
I should get around to watching Robotics;Notes. I've heard mixed reactions, but it seems like something I might like.
.....at the very least, it looks better than Chaos;Head. It felt like I was forcing myself to watch more episodes & I couldn't even bring myself to watch the last episode or two.
I can't say I'm really into anime but I just watched the whole series and I loved it then liked it and then loved it again (especially last episodes until 24, the rest and the OVA seemed like fan-service, I still enjoyed it but it wasn't the same).
I also watched all episodes of Claymore and now I'm seriously sleep deprived...
It was back around the time the Robotics;Notes anime was airing,
They were hinting at the next in the series.
They were then asked if we would see a full sequel to Steins;Gate.
They kinda denied that but said they are slowly building to the showdown with the Committee of 300.
But who knows back then the next in the series was just going to be an average novel.
haven't heard anything about that novel since, can't even find the original announcement (It wasn't Chaos;Child)

I have to say I really enjoy Robotics;Notes as well. Though like StayDead I haven't played the game. I was actually curious if this was going to turn into an entire Scientific Adventure community thread since watching/enjoying one sort of leads into the others.
I would agree that Chaos;Head is a bit weird, but I think it had it's moments and is worth watching. Is there any info out there on Chaos;Child other than the name?
From what I've come to understand both the games are meant to be very good (still need to play them, I've got Chaos;Head Noah on my vita thanks to PS Plus in Japan) but Chaos;Head's anime isn't very good at all. Robotics;Notes I personally enjoyed, but the anime itself has very mixed reviews depending on the person involved. I can't wait to play the game when it eventually comes to vita (it got announced ages ago).
