Plz. People in movies should always have the outside perspective of the audience and never despair, get scared or act irrationally.

I don't understand this comment. My argument is that the audience needs to have the perspective of the characters in the movie. Your comment infers I said the opposite. Please elaborate.

Edit: Oops, sarcasm meter is broken today. Sorry folks, nothing to see here.

I think its a great movie.. and that ending, well, i love it personally :) .. but i would love to read some views by christians people on the character played by Marcia Gay Harden.. some friends of christian belief hated that character (who didn't :D), because of the presentation of christanity.. i've always been of that opinion, that every religious fanatic is bad, no matter which one religion.. other characters were maybe too christians but normal believer,no fanatics and nothing like her in that regard..so i don't think that they did something wrong in the movie in regard to christianity

I really don't understand why people find the movies ending so preposterous? I have a gut feeling that a great many people who don't like the ending are younger people with no children.

Hmmm. I always assumed the opposite. At least as far as being parents. I have no kids and I liked ending on the level of... well, I appreciated that it took a lot of balls to be soooo dark, give such a blatant super hard kick to the viewer's gut. I assumed it was mainly parents who would be the first to say "Oh my god what a TERRIBLE ending! I hate it!!!" Whereas I was more like "Heh heh heh... damn, now THAT's seriously fucked up! >=)"

This is my favorite movie of all time. Yes the CG could be shit at times but it doesn't even bother me, the creature designs we're amazing.

Man, this movie. It's like well, it's almost over for the audience, everything seems hopeless, time to punch them in the nuts for good measure.

Yeah, they were pretty awesome. Did't really mind at all about the CG, really, because of the awesome monsters. Apparently the black and white version is much less of issue for people in terms of CG.

I really want to watch the black and white version some time.
Thank you for posting this tidbit, I never knew there was a B&W cut until now and I'm obsessed with creature features- so I pretty much had to find this. I've wanted to revisit the film for awhile now but the fact that there's a throwback transfer available made me INSTA-BUY. 10$ for the Blu from Amazon.

I remember seeing The Mist twice when it came out and really enjoying it for what it was: a slimy drive-in movie somehow transported to our decade.

Tonight, me and the "tobacco pipe" are going to enjoy some tasty crisis carnage. I'll post impressions and screens tomorrow if anyone would be interested.

I'll probably end up re-reading the short story too, it's really up there in terms of anything King has done.

The movie wasn't so great, and this is the thing I have with king's stories, he does a very good premise and setting and after that he just throw some religious nut jobs and some crazy people in to try to make a good story, most of the time his endings sucks but in this movie they actually improved the book.

Years later I found out this was the inspiration of half life and it was pretty cool.

The dark ending made that movie. So good.

The movie as a whole isn't that great though, but I still loved it because I'm a sucker for movies that take place in one area.

Everyone should see it just for the ending.

What film is this?
I'll bite!

After a storm, a father and son drive into town for supplies. Strange weather brings in a rolling front of fog and people start to drift in with terrible stories, afraid of things they can't quite see...

I just watched it now. The Christian nutjob was amazing. I've never felt "would somebody please kill this bitch" more in my life. As for the ending, the timing of the
military showing up was just comical. Maybe if the dad thrashed around to exhaustion and fell asleep and then woke up to the sound of tanks rolling by I'd believe it. It'd break the continuity of the scene but damn, the ending was like "in your face motherfucker." I burst laughter when the two dudes walked past ignoring the man in hysterics next to the car with 4 dead bodies in it.

Decent movie.
