Steven Universe Season 3 |OT| Clods Among Us

Awesome news! I'm thrilled that the marketing worked and that the leaks didn't affect ratings too badly. I think having a set of story-heavy episodes in a row also let people know that the show was back to its main plot.

All I ask is that the show gets a few more seasons. At this current pacing, having it end at Season 5 would feel way too rushed, especially since we're starting Season 4 next week.

It should be filling the hole left by Adventure Time as the premiere slightly-older-skewing show on the network. AT is not terrible now, but it passed its peak of popularity a few seasons ago.

At the very least, Steven Universe is far and away the most discussed Cartoon Network show online. A serialized show like Steven Universe has the potential to continue growing in ratings through word of mouth. I would hope CN execs realize they have a very strong fanbase on their hands and keep things going.

And release more merch while they're at it! I want some SU action figures that aren't blind bag toys or Funko POPs!
Yeah. I'm actually worried about it getting more seasons. You'd think we'd have a renewal announcement by now. All we got was that thing where they actually just split seasons 2 and 3 into seasons 2-5.

If the seasons weren't split up suddenly, we'd be heading into the final season of the show without any announcement of a renewal. Thats not good. If it does end with "season 5", I hope they have a proper ending planned. Maybe it wont go as far as, say, liberating homeworld or whatever, but at least some sort of satisfying conclusion with what they have to work with.

I still find the change in seasons weird, but the show's too popular, especially after Adventure Time/Regular Show's popularity dropped. They wouldn't stop the show before its intended finale... Right?

Depends on the network, I imagine. Nickelodeon couldn't fucking wait to get rid of Korra while the last episodes were airing. They put that shit online-only before it even got to the end.

Man, the way they handled that was pretty weird. Not to mention that recap episode where they straight up ran out of budget. What went so wrong over at Nick?

So "Beta" just aired in Canada and that means yet more spoilers out there.

Bismuth got 2.1 million viewers and was the #1 original TV show for thursday. Dang! Hope this means more special episodes.

Impressive stuff and yeah hope this means more 22min episodes in the future.

Action show that doesn't sell toys and appeals to an older demographic.

Same thing that happened to Young Justice.

AAAAAHHHHHHHH

Young Justice. Another great series taken from us too soon.

I get that if a show underperforms they take it down, but I never understand how such good shows always end up going before certain others. Like how Legend of Korra got the shaft but Fanboy and Chum Chum was apparently good enough to stay.

Same reason Marvel cancels all their good comics for more Avengers bullshit.

Goddamnit, CN, stop spoiling unnecessary stuff.

Are they, though? All of those seem like they take place within the first 5 minutes of their respective episodes. Promos like this are commonplace and have been for a really long time. Longer than I've been alive.

Same reason Marvel cancels all their good comics for more Avengers bullshit.

But I'd imagine anything Avatar-related sells harder than Fanboy and Chum Chum.

Shows like Legend of Korra cost a lot more, and because they attract older demographics they're not as appealing for advertisers, who will be targeting younger children.

Traditionally, action cartoons relied on toy sales to make up that difference. Problem is, Legend of Korra didn't have toys, and even the shows with toys like Young Justice weren't really selling them.

There's a reason shows like Adventure Time or Steven Universe are doing a lot better: They're cheaper to make and they attract a larger demograph of young children in addition to older demographics.

Because F&CC probably got better ratings, or at the very least better ratings among Nick's target demo.

I'm catching up on this season since I didn't watch much of 2 or 3 and I just hit the baseball episode and is it like...a requirement that baseball episodes for anime or animated shows are always the best? This episode, the baseball episode of Samurai Champloo...man. I LOVED this episode. It was so funny and I was either laughing hilarious at Earl and Bob or giggling at how adorable Ruby and Sapphire were or how silly the other Rubies were.

Oh man.

Also, Peridot is easily the MVP of the last like...10 episodes.

Yet another leak is out, this time for Back to the Moon, so watch out.

It has
the Rubbies coming back
, and SUPER SPOILERS
it shows Pink Diamond's mural in the moon base.

That, and it could be rerun ad infinidum; action shows, especially Korra, have a limited number of episodes, and because characters develop, you can't really watch them out of order. For a half-baked comedy, however, the only difference between the first and last episode would be in animation quality. IIRC, this is why the Angry Beavers finale which was about the beavers embracing their new life in syndication was never made.

But, again, budget is probably the biggest factor; shows like Avatar cost a lot, and merch usually only sells to older fans who may be cautious with their money. Comedies can be made on a nonexistent budget for better profits, and toys can be sold to kids, who're using their parents' money to buy anything with a brand. That said, SU's action is pretty easy to animate for the most part, and it has both demographics down pretty well. It was an issue with Avatar and Young Justice, but I doubt it's an issue here.

Amethyst is ready for Jasper in their next fight

I think it's still possible Rose is Pink Diamond. However, we're seeing that corrupted gems take on a more animal, feral form.

So, about Lion...

And they're just now coming out with a bunch of different merch. Books, plushes, funkos, with more to come I assume.

At comic con they literally only advertised Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, and Power Puff Girls. This was verus the previous year where Steven Universe was considered secondary importance to Adventure Time. I'm pretty sure they consider it a valuable property at this point.

I just realized, there's no way it's a coincidence that Steven got his spiked bubble shield powerup at the same time Amethyst got her flail upgrade.

Shit, saw a few screenshot leaks by mistake.

Rose = Pink Diamond is definitely not dead just yet.

I'm still of the opinion that Pink Diamond isn't around because she was fractured into two or three large fragments. Rose = Pink Diamond's Anima and Lion = Animus. To borrow terminology from Carl Jung.
