Yeah. I'm actually worried about it getting more seasons. You'd think we'd have a renewal announcement by now. All we got was that thing where they actually just split seasons 2 and 3 into seasons 2-5.Awesome news! I'm thrilled that the marketing worked and that the leaks didn't affect ratings too badly. I think having a set of story-heavy episodes in a row also let people know that the show was back to its main plot.
All I ask is that the show gets a few more seasons. At this current pacing, having it end at Season 5 would feel way too rushed, especially since we're starting Season 4 next week.
It should be filling the hole left by Adventure Time as the premiere slightly-older-skewing show on the network. AT is not terrible now, but it passed its peak of popularity a few seasons ago.
At the very least, Steven Universe is far and away the most discussed Cartoon Network show online. A serialized show like Steven Universe has the potential to continue growing in ratings through word of mouth. I would hope CN execs realize they have a very strong fanbase on their hands and keep things going.
And release more merch while they're at it! I want some SU action figures that aren't blind bag toys or Funko POPs!
If the seasons weren't split up suddenly, we'd be heading into the final season of the show without any announcement of a renewal. Thats not good. If it does end with "season 5", I hope they have a proper ending planned. Maybe it wont go as far as, say, liberating homeworld or whatever, but at least some sort of satisfying conclusion with what they have to work with.
