Steven Universe Season 3 |OT| Clods Among Us

Recent episodes basically kicked that theory to the curb.
They did not, the theory is alive and well. Bismuth saying Rose was just a regular quartz means nothing, because as the series and the episode itself made absolutely clear, Rose lied and kept many secrets!
Bismuth saying Rose was made here in the dirt doesn't mean anything either, that could easily mean that Rose became the person she was on earth, not that she was literally made there.
Garnet first fused on earth, Bismuth only realized she could build whatever she wanted on earth, Peal presumably became a fighter on earth, Peridot changed significantly, discarded technological enhancements (not by choice but still) and discovered her inherent powers on earth, Lapis was trapped on earth which made her bitter but also became friends with Steven, Jasper experienced fusion for the first time making her seemingly addicted to the power part of it despite disregarding it as a cheap tactic before. In a way they were all "made" on earth despite coming from homeworld.

If you jump through enough hoops then sure, I guess Rose could still be PD despite what the series is telling us.

I personally think it's a done deal.

And after watching Beta
I feel like one of the arguments for her telling gems lies about her origins and still being PD got BTFO.

Got one leaked image spoiled on Back to the Moon while looking for Beta.

My god. My fucking god. I don't even know the context of what I saw but i'm so hyped. Really wish I didn't get spoiled on it though.

I think at this point, it is pretty obvious that the writers kinda wanted to lead us in that direction. Regardless of whether or not they intended to follow through.

That said, there is STILL something very weird about who or what Rose is. Steven's powers when compared to Amethyst and Jasper clearly point to this.

I am enough on the PD train to acknowledge it as a possibility.

So while everyone's talking about upcoming episodes and stuff, I just noticed this little thing from the Moon episode. These are the murals:

But, back at the beginning of the series...

I wonder how much had the Steven Universe crew planned before releasing anything. Those little details are only possible when you're building up.

oh, and on that crazy theory...

I bet you that what Rose Quartz is holding here IS Pink Diamond...

Hm. IDK if I should watch Beta or not. I think I might just go ahead and do it since its only two days until the new episode airs

Beta was entertaining,
Peridot really is just a ball of energy lol I sometimes miss her more serious side but it's nice to see her and Lapis get along better. Lapis seemed like she was on something for the most of the episode though tbh. Steven needs to get them something else to watch too. Jasper being made on Earth is surprising and that hole was huge and that ending was abrupt as fuck.

Hmmm
I feel Jasper is the Rose Quartz of Yellow Diamonds court.

This was uploaded half a year ago:

So some people were already thinking along those lines.
Blue's Quartz soldier is probably an Amethyst. Maybe.
White Diamond's court is a total mystery, though some are convinced our Pearl was originally from there due to her gem placement.

Chalcedony could be an option for the Quartz of Blue Diamonds court don't you think ?

Chalcedony is known as the Speaker's Stone, the stone of one who must measure his words. It encourages reflection and meditation, its gentle radiance preparing us for action but helping to hold back words we might regret. The great Roman orator, Cicero, is said to have worn one around his neck.

So with all this talk and establishing lore about shattering I'm wondering if we'll see a shatter any time soon, and if so who (probably Jasper?)

All this talk about Beta being painful to watch without Earthlings has me happy I'll have all 3 parts + Bubbled in one go!

I do wish I could join the Beta talk, though.

I think it's probably better off abstracted as a looming narrative element, honestly. One of the most intense moments in the series is when Centi "strikes out" soldiers on the battlefield in her drawings and it's accompanied by those awful-sounding noises she makes to illustrate they were shattered and not poofed.

If the theory that Pink Diamond was in charge of overseeing the birthing of gems and healing/ medic (Like how YD is in charge of military and tech advancement and BD theorized to be in charge of colonization and culture) then her Quartz soldiers having the powers she has makes prefect sense.

As we know for sure now Rose's only gem weapon was Def, her sword was made by Bism. If her diamond was in charge of breathing life into gems and such then her having the powers she has makes that much more sense. Plus, in someways we're not sure where Steven's powers differ from Rose's. We do know of area's where he surpasses her though.

We also don't know what diamond Amy was made to work under but we do know that her whip seems to be unusual for a quartz.

Watching Beta only made me more hyped for the release of the two parts on monday!

I like the symmetry thing they're doing with Amethyst and Jasper, one being the sole defective quartz of a perfect factory and the other being the sole perfect quartz of a shitty factory. No wonder she's so full of herself, all her sisters are rejects.

Blue's soldiers are the Rubies, sent in groups of 3 to 5 so they fuse into a big Ruby.

And they're just now coming out with a bunch of different merch. Books, plushes, funkos, with more to come I assume.

At comic con they literally only advertised Steven Universe, We Bare Bears, and Power Puff Girls. This was verus the previous year where Steven Universe was considered secondary importance to Adventure Time. I'm pretty sure they consider it a valuable property at this point.

This is very true. Last year, SU shared a normal panel with Adventure Time. This year, they got an extended panel all by themselves that they turned into a mini-concert. They wouldn't be getting that kind of special treatment if Cartoon Network didn't think highly of them.

So with all this talk and establishing lore about shattering I'm wondering if we'll see a shatter any time soon, and if so who (probably Jasper?)

I think it could be some or all of the Ruby Squad once they come back (because of course they're coming back). They're lovable characters but not incredibly important in the grand scheme of things.

Yellow Diamond shattering them would still be incredibly traumatic, especially for Garnet and for the other Rubies if she only shatters some of them.

I really hope shit goes down in the finale. There's 4 whole episodes to do crazy shit. If its just jasper doing her corrupted fusion thing i'd be disappointed. Cmon Yellow D, do something. Even if its just like, sending a few ships to take jasper away or whatever.

hmmm

After checking out that preview clip for Earthlings

SPOILERS

it seems Jasper has no idea about these corrupted gems and the true source of their condition.

She attributes their imperfections towards their creation on the planet and not something that was done after the fact (a weapon that was used by the diamonds given centipeddle's heartfelt explanation).

Now i wonder if it will be revealed to her and could that place a dent in her loyalty to the diamond authority and the caste order.

Seems like next week should be interresting

Rubies are grunts. Practically cannon fodder compared to what we know to be quartz warriors. Also, that fanart is, while aesthetically pleasing, mistaken:

Blue Diamond said:
How dare you fuse with a member of my court. You will be broken for this!

Rubies aren't a part of Blue Diamond's court, they were only there to escort Sapphire from Homeworld. If we're going by color-coding like everything else, they probably belong in Pink's court.

Rose is too perfect

that Bismuth episode has me questioning everything about her

I'm guessing that
Rose also lied about being a quartz solider. Bismuth and multiple other gems have said that gems were built for a specific purpose, but Rose's powerset doesn't suggest soldier based on the other soldier classes that we've seen. She's powerful but her powers are very broad to be limited to a single purpose.

Just caught up to the aired episodes.

Holy shit

Man that Bismuth episode had everything. All that foreshadowing. I knew something was going to happen and it had me on the edge of my seat.

Yeah, I knew she wasn't going to be a series regular no matter what they implied in the previews.

Oh jeeze whatttttttttt

So Bismuth (Gem War Spoilers) was the one that
cracked Lapis
?

Depends if you believe Lapis was telling the truth about what happened. Bismuth was definitely the one who poofed her, but according to Lappy it was some careless fleeing Homeworlder who stepped on her gem.

Bismuth poofed Lapis, she was picked up by homeworld gems assuming she was a Crystal Gem and left behind. Someone stepping on the mirror's gem is what cracked it.

Oh.

Good thing Bismuth didn't
shatter her
.

Bisimuth gave me serious hephaestus vibes and i was right.

Also idk maybe rose should have given them an option they were fighting a war

White Diamond is probably real big bad behind everything. We've had appearances from both Blue and Yellow Diamond already and there are many theories revolving around Pink Diamond. We have literally nothing on White Diamond at all.

I would have to agree. Unless they have to wrap the show up in Season 5, then White Diamond will be the final big bad of the show. It's possible that Blue Diamond may not be as dangerous as Yellow, given that she's supposed to be the diplomatic Diamond. But White being at the very top of the insignia means she's the head honcho and will have to be dealt with.

The final "enemy" will probably be a massive Blue/White/Yellow Diamond fusion.

PSA: Season 2 of Steven Universe has finally been added to Hulu, but only up to The Answer. Hopefully, they add the four more episodes after it, but it's good news for anybody who wants to catch up with the series or just rewatch old episodes!

Just keep in mind that some of the episodes from the beginning of Season 2 were supposed to be part of Season 1 and should be watched before The Return/Jailbreak.
