Steven Universe Season 4 IOTI If a Ruby says it then it must be true

Steven Universe Season 4 IOTI The morp gems the merrier!

Steven Universe Season 4 IOTI A new Morp

These are all horrible I'm sorry.

So I'm assuming next episode is going to be like Steven Floats in pacing.

I'm going to be disappointed when Steven's lonely space adventure doesn't end with him unlocking the ability to communicate with past Ava Rose

As for Rose shattering PD:
I see absolutely no reason to disbelieve Eyeball's eyewitness- no pun intended- account; she has no reason to lie to anybody there and it's not far-fetched that's she be in the presence of a diamond (possibly protecting an aristocratic gem), plus Garnet and (especially) Pearl all but confirmed her testimony with their distraught body language and stunned silence on that matter- they clearly didn't want Steven to know this information-.
I imagine if what Eyeball was saying wasn't true Pearl and Garnet would have denied it right then and there.

Not necessarily.

As pointed out, the rubies are idiots. That doesn't necessarily mean they're wrong, but it also gives the writers lots of ways to wiggle out of them being right.

Likewise, all that Pearl and Garnet's reaction tells us is that something bad happened. It's totally possible that it is what it appears, but it's also not a done deal.

I personally think it's a bit too simple as presented - that may change as we find out more, of course.

(That said, I don't think Rose is just Pink Diamond in a wig and funny glasses, or something. It would have to be a little more complicated than that, and the show would have to do the legwork of setting the answer up before any big reveal.)

You know, honestly, I'm starting to get worried about the plot structure of the show. Seems to be a loop of "bad guy sent to earth, bad guys plans delayed/defeated, reinforcements coming, wait until 20+ episodes later, rinse and repeat"

I'm not really sure how they can change things up if they want a decent amount of time spent in beach city though. But the only way I could see things changing is if there's an entire season spent on home world or something.

We have to see Homeworld eventually, so I imagine that they spend a chunk of a season on a big spaceship and travel to Homeworld. Connie and Greg would have to tag along too.

Or the Crystal Gems end up discovering or building a secret galaxy warp directly to Homeworld, and that's how they're able to travel back and forth.

I think it's obvious that they're building up to Yellow Diamond coming back to Earth. Once that happens, they can't just keep doing the same formula because it'll either be a full out war or slaughter if the Crystal Gems take on a Diamond directly again. Homeworld can't ignore Earth forever with how many screw-ups that have been happening. They're going to give it their direct attention soon.

Who wants a PM for bubbled ?

That episode was a whole bunch of nothing lore-wise.

Is everyone cool with the Season 4 thread going up later today? I won't be around to post it tomorrow, but I definitely want to have it up before S4 begins.

Steven's healing powers are back so he can fix the galaxy warp. If it comes to that.

Wait does the current intro take place in a modded version of the ruby space ship.Peridot is gonna have so much fun with it, there are even enough seats for all 5 of the gems.

Bubbled Full Episode Spoilers:

SU going even more anime by playing its full ending theme as part of the final scene of the season. I already saw some complaints that this episode was a let down and that it wasn't as good as Jailbreak. But Jesus Christ, Steven basically killed Eyeball by tossing her into space at the end. He couldn't reason with her at all, and did what he had to do. The whole episode was Steven coming to an uncomfortable understanding that he had to do something that he didn't want to do. Only then could he fully understand why his mom had to kill Pink Diamond during the war.

Steven Universe is the last show I expected to end its season on such a downer note.

I guess I'm out of the loop since IMDB and TVDB says Know Your Fusion is the last episode of the season. I guess considering Bubbled is the end of a 4 parter, that makes more sense.
I recall reading somewhere Matt Burnett saying it was...

Bubbled full ep spoilers:

It wasn't as great as the S1 finale but i'm perfectly okay with it being a smaller scale episode considering we're going straight into season 4 after this. Steven trying to reason with Ruby, having to toss her out of the bubble, along with coming to terms with what Rose had to do to Pink Diamond to protect the earth ended it on a decent note for a season finale I felt. (even if it was depressing, but at least we got love like you playing)

Looking forward to Season 4 starting soon!

Bubbled spoilers:
I think one major takeaway / status quo change Bubbled gave us that we won't really see the impact of until later is that the CGs have a fully-functional Era-II Gem spacecraft now. Going back to episodes like Space Race or It Could've Been Great, going somewhere like the moon (or even exiting the Earth's atmosphere) were major hurdles that had to be overcome, and even then stuff like Space Race's ship fell through. Unless something happens and the ship inexplicably explodes because reasons, this not only gives them a free ticket off Earth for whatever reasons that may come up in what's probably the first time in over 5000 years, but they also have access to a large, fully-functional piece of Era-II gem technology, which - along with Peridot being a CG now - probably means big things in regards to preparing for the inevitable "Yellow Diamond returns to Earth" plot.

I like that Steven finally "learns" something a lot of us have discussed when we've talked about the gem war and most recently, Bismuth. That is, that principles are important and whether we live up to them matters, but that life will bend them inevitably. So in some ways, the episode is pretty powerful. I just think they could have given us something more. I don't know, some new information on top of everything else. I feel like the core premise of the episode was good. but it was missing something.

Additionally -- and this is a recurring problem for me-- I feel like sometimes SU ends up mangling the tone of a scene because certain things are animated a bit too cartoonishly. In this episode, I feel like the way Amethyst and Pearl physically cried took away from the moment.Something more understated would have worked better, like Garnet.

Reminds me of how I felt about Yellow Diamond's reaction to being called "clod". Funny, yes, but "inappropriate" given who the character is and what the context was. Peridot's first introduction ended up being more menacing and ominous in some ways because she wasn't so exaggerated, at least at first. Usually, SU gets its right in my view. But there are moments like the one in today's episode that just make me think "that's too much".
