I can already see this character being as spastic as many others.
His kart gonna be as annoying as Bowser Jr's side B.
Impossible to edgeguard, continuous tilt attacks as annoying as Luigi's dash attack.
Mining shit triggering everyone.
Fuuuuuuck.

Oh wow they actually added that thing to Smash as a playable character LMAO.

Why did they add this guy for? Minecraft is dumb and for kids unlike smash bros. We needed another generic anime swordsman :messenger_pouting:

If you are under 18, sure. I didn't know his name was Steve until people started talking about him being on Smash.

That's on you though. Not sure which rock you've been living under for the last 10 years and no, Minecraft is not a kids game, it was created by an adult at the time with no specific aim to children. It just so happens in majorly appeals to them.

I thought kids moved to Fortnite and Shooter#831?

Some did probably, and what's your point on that? You seem so out of touch with gaming. Stop being so narrow minded and open up a little.[/QUOTE]

It's the character of a 10 year old game. If they added some Fall Guy or someone from Fortnite I could understand, but today Minecraft is bigger than Bayonetta or Fatal Fury.

Minecraft is mostly a kids game. Or teens. It is a successful IP that can be played on everything. Hell I've bought it and given it as a gift to people before, but I was never the target demographic and adding this character to a "fighting" game just cements what Smash has become. A joke. #NoShowerNoSmash.

Case in point.

I've prob played more games than you man. Outside some sims and sandbox anyway.

10 years is nothing when you compare it to games that have been around longer than Senran Kagura. Wait.

Jack Frost for smash when?

Never!

What is it actually meant to be besides a penis?
I can't figure out what the legit version is meant to be?

They're getting rid of that dick I bet.

Hey, maybe they should add "one of the most recognisable and known characters" from ROBLOX next, since apparently that's even more popular than Minecraft now.

Better yet maybe they should look at the most popular free to play mobile phone games from the last 10 years and add "one of the most recognisable and known characters" from those. Kids love free to play mobile games.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind "Steve" so much if him and his game weren't so artistically ugly.

I disagree. I think this is no longer about longevity but about popularity, and right now Minecraft is popular both for little kiddies and for adults.

Smash is a kids game. Jack Frost is too cool for that.

"Oh wow" but then you already knew he'd been added/who it was from people talking. Way to point out your own shitpost.
I literally just found out he had been added to smash . Can't you fucking read?

Hey it is their very own MUGEN at this point. I can still point and laugh at it right and yes they should add Fortnite characters next no shit. Also Angry Birds while we are at.

Same tbh except I find their additions funny and stupid. I still play the game ONLY when people come over though. As it is a good party game.

As for the age demographic

Minecraft is, essentially, the gaming version of youtube.com; a social interaction that has exploded onto the gaming scene and has transcended the typical boundaries of gaming. The player demographics within Minecraft can reveal a lot about the popularity of this game. For instance, the largest demographic is that of 15-21 year old's, which comprise a vast 43% of the player base. the 22-30 year old age bracket consists of just over 21% of the base. Rounding out the top three is the under 15 age bracket, which averages to 20.59%. The lowest player demographics happen to rest with the 61-80 age brackets, which is to be expected. While these numbers may not seem wholly important on their own, it's essential to understand that they can tell a lot about the types of people the game is aimed towards. These numbers show that, while gamers of all ages play this game, it's typically played by teenagers, as they comprise over 60% of total players.

It seems teens to "young" adults are the largest demographic. Makes sense considering it is a 10 year old game. I stand corrected thanks to (in part by) time! Yay I was right!

No they didn't. I talked to a 15 year old yesterday who said when he gets bored of a new game, he just goes back to Minecraft.

My daughter also still plays Minecraft.

Besides anecdotes, it was reported this week that Minecraft was just now surpassed by Roblox for highest monthly players (100 million).

So yeah, people still play Minecraft. Outside of Mario, Sonic, and Pac-Man, who else is more universally recognizable as a video game mascot?

Trick question. Adult gamers or underage gamers? Pikachu, Lara Croft, Crash Bandicoot, Doomguy, Chocobos, Moogles, Slimes, Spyro, Rayman and maybe Rabbids.

How about all gamers? And I'll put Minecraft Steve up against that list, too. I've been gaming for 35 years and even I don't know what a moogle is off-hand.

I remember a friend introduced me to Minecraft on the PC in 2011. I only played it for a couple weeks but can see why it became so popular since you can invite your friends to play with you and try to survive or be creative and build a house, castle or town or whatever else really.

I was 8 years old when I played Super Smash Bros. on the N64. It was also a game that you could play with your friends and try to survive as long as possible, just in a different way by fighting each other. Yeah, I would have preferred a character from a game that is/was a Nintendo exclusive but Ultimate already has a huge roster (that also includes Pac-Man and Cloud), and it's not like you're forced to play the character if you don't want to.

It's silly to compare this to Mugen since you're only fighting as video game characters in Super Smash Bros. whereas Mugen has random characters like Goku, Spongebob, Ronald McDonald etc.

Looks like Steve needs some blue pills in the latest patch
