Streamer Harasses Girl Playing Pokemon Go (MASSIVE CRINGE ALERT)

p6nrRST.png

The video looks a lot like he create an unpleasant or hostile situation for especially by uninvited and unwelcome verbal or physical conduct by making sexists comments that made her leave and then following her

I saw no harassment. You trivial real harassment when you apply to situations like this.

harassment doesn't just have to be the high end of the spectrum in intensity. Shitty behaviour like this is also harassment imho. Maybe it's easily dismissed easily walked away from harassment but it's still harassment.

this is largely semantics but I still think to some extent it's important that even something as minor as this is recognised as harassing behaviour

Even though I personally wouldn't call this harassment, (I guess because I think of it being a much harsher term) I do have to agree with your post. It is largely semantics but I can see there is a case to be made that it was harassment. (Well, as per literal definition, it is.)

In the end I think the guy is an asshole. There was nothing friendly about that encounter. And it was not "flirting" whatsoever. If people flirt like that now, then wow.

To be fair, about 70% of Pokemon Go players i meet dont play games. Ive also met quite a few hot chicks that are deep into instagram.

I dont think we should pretend he's that far off the mark. Yeah it was a bigtime misfire and he came off like a major twat, but that nose-picking goblin probably doesnt get too many opportunities to actually talk to women. As long as that video was the end of their interaction, it wasnt too harmful.

How many in here have watched the full video? Or at least went to the full video and watched that segment?

Before and after seeing these two girls he ran into several other girls playing and simply asked them if they were playing Pokemon and what their levels were.

These two girls he said

"These girls are playing Pokemon, we're going to ask, I don't know though, probably not they don't look like the kind of girls that would play Pokemon. She does have a phone in her hand though. Shall we ask? Let's ask. "

"Are you guys playing? Are you guys playing as well. Pokemon Go?"

1st girl "She's playing"

"She's playing Pokemon. What's your level? What makes you start playing?....

The rest is in the OP video.

So I guess it's not as some are saying that he doesn't think girls should play games, but he does assume that more attractive girls don't play. This isn't a great assumption, but it could just be based off his own experience. I don't think he is the misogynist male gamer people make him out to be. Most of the video is him just being super friendly asking people if they play and asking levels. It just seems like this particular girl made him a little nervous and he responded awkwardly. At one point he asks a girl if she palys. When she says no he says "You should it's fun and a great way to make friends" Seem like an ok guy.

We all geeks and nerds outchea all things considered, but when u attempt to harress or ostracize someone for having fun doing something that's your dedicated hobby u are a jackass.

Let that girl live, improve nerd relations to new gamers and all people in general and not destroy them like this video does

It just seemed a bit awkward. He's talking to a stream that she is not aware of, making it seem like he's talking to himself.

"I bet you don't even play games"

"Don't be shy, I can give you lots of Instagram followers right now."

Those are pretty damn condescending.

She isn't a REAL gamer like us guys. We got to keep them non-REAL gamers out to keep our hobby pure!

Destroy?

She was laughing it off.

Some of the people in this thread are more mortified than the actual girl who was laughing at him.

It was stupid chat up lines by him. He's an idiot. But he didn't harass her. He made dorky comments like he bet she wouldn't play video games. If he had the balls to he would make the same assumption of a jock too. Would people be outraged then?

Obviously he was in the wrong for sterotyping. But let's not make a massive deal of shit chat up lines. Lots of people on GAF stereotype that COD is for dude bros.

Go and hide under a rock. Forever.

That boy just tried to chat up a girl and failed, not unlike what people actually do in the pub or workplace. She's not interested and that guy is not stalking her afterwards. The whole thing last 15 second.

We call that harassment now? ;/

YOU asked for the definition. It fits the definition pretty well.

I dont trivial "real harassment" because there is no such a thing as "fake harassment".
ALL harassment must be treated like what they are.

Stealing some pennies is still stealing. You don't need to steal a TV to be "real stealing".

YOU are trivializing harassment that happens to REAL PEOPLE and LOTS have said worst from harassments that are even smaller than this one like cat-calling.

Go and hide under a rock. Forever.

Any possible explanation why I should try such lifestyle ?

I really wish that these types of guys would just stop. Why is it so hard to be friendly?

You're all ignoring the real focus of the video which is should be the awesome dog this guy is walking while bugging people around him with his stream.

This is no more harassment, though, than any socially awkward person trying to impress someone who clearly isn't interested. Wasn't hostile or overly creepy, just out of touch... Very out of touch...

There's some mild harassment, due to the misogyny of the interaction.

Annoying but he left before making it even worse. Though the fact that he was filming her while doing it makes it even worse.

yeah people are ignoring that while insulting her and bothering her he was also shoving a camera in her face and I'm guessing also live streaming her.

It's already borderline harassment given that all he did was insult her, it goes next level when you factor in he's fucking filming her.

I am really having a hard time seeing it... But, then again, I'm certainly not going to rewatch that so I'm going to have to take your word for it. All I saw/heard was someone (kind of desperately) trying to talk up someone who quickly made it clear they had no interest in him. It happens all the time with both men and women and, while its usually not quite this pathetic, it often ends the same way with both people walking away and one or both of them trying to cover up their horrible embarrassment... This one just happened to happen in front of tons of viewers and now an entire gaf thread.

That said, I teach in a high school and quite literally see slightly less cringy versions of this on a daily basis in the halls (student-to-student and, more pathetically in a lot of cases, teacher-to-teacher) so I may just be totally desensitized to the whole thing...

Meh... This wasn't as cringy as I thought it would. She laughed it off and kept it moving. And he moved on. Maybe it's because I watch too much Impractical Jokers. He failed and that was the end of that.

Jesus Christ GAF, he was fucking about. That should be clear to anyone. She was shy, he made a joke about something very popular (Instagram). It's not sexist.

Are you saying speaking to any stranger in any way becomes harassment if they are shy? Don't talk to anyone, just in case. Like people have said, to apply the term harassment to this is nonsense that takes away from what harassment actually is. That's before we even get onto you thinking taking a few steps in the same direction as someone is physical harassment. You must be taking the piss.

It was a self-aware joke as she was walking away. He knew she was done, and it was over. Not harassment.

Sounded like nervous laughter to me. He was recording her and talking about increasing her insta followers. That ain't normal conversation, at least where I'm from

There's some mild harassment, due to the misogyny of the interaction.

What misogyny? He assumed she didn't play games because of the way she looked, not because she was a woman. It's a silly assumption, but it's not misogynist. I wish people would stop looking for excuses to throw that word around without actually understanding what it is. You're inadvertently trivialising actual sexism and misogyny.

Also it doesn't seem like he's hitting on her to me. Doesn't he have a girlfriend btw? I remember his Diablo 3 streams and his girlfriend would end up in the background, and I didn't watch many of his streams, just about two different times. Quin and Alkaizerx are my go to for D3 now.

This is the issue with today's world.

- Awkward guy goes up to a woman in public
- strikes up a conversation
- Tries to flirt and fails miserably
- Gets labeled a sexist, misogynistic cunt and is 'harassing' her.

It's kind of amazing that people even manage to go on dates these days.

Because what he said was sexist, omg

Literally the dictionary definition. This isn't a case of "DAE guys can't flirt now without it being HARRASSMENT!"

This is interrupting (and filming!) a random woman on the street, proceeding to insult her based on her gender, do it AGAIN, and then back off. Omg.

He's a streamer that spends most of his time online. What he said could've been a little less creepy and started off a little better rather than using 'you dont do real games' sure, even though the woman in the video admitted that she doesn't play video games and because she admitted that then he goes and strikes up a convo based around that. The Instagram comment caught me off guard and seemingly came from left field. Probably because he has no clue on how to flirt and thinks that every pretty blonde woman takes part in the website.

So sure, slightly sexist. If he didn't back off after the failed attempt then that would have been harassment.

Edit. Also.....Omg.

He just tried to hit on her. He didn't harass her at all and left her alone when she walked away. Nothing about this is worth a discussion...

If you are filming someone without their consent and streaming it online, that's harassment. Even without the verbal assault it's pretty bad. Then the Instagram-comment and the "gamer" "insults". Yikes. How anyone can say that anything he did was alright is beyond me.

What's with the whole instagram followers thing anyway? Why does it matter that you get more people to follow you on instagram? Do you get paid if more people view your stuff on instagram, or is it just some ego boosting thing? I never got the apply of it.

The guy is pretty sexist assuming she doesn't play videogames.

There are plenty of people I walk past in the street both male and female who I'd look at and if I were asked the question 'Do you think they played videogames?', I'd assume no. It's presumptuous to be sure, but appearances and all that.

I'm not quite sure he was assuming it because of the fact she was a girl, as much as he was assuming it because she was pretty and dressed well. It's a silly assumption but there's a stereotypical image of gamer gals and guys to be sure.

I expected like 5+ minutes or something.

It was awkward but out of context it probably looks worse. Was probably doing it for the "luls" of 6000 people in twitch chat.
