The writer of the Ratchet and Clank games, TJ Fixman, left last year so that could have something to do with the quality.

Ah, too bad! I enjoyed the Time trilogy very much in terms of writing.

But I did not watch this for very long, so maybe it gets better/I did not see enough of it. Sometimes when I get invested in a world I also learn to appreciate the humor more.
 
Damn, not watching but I can smell that OT a mile from here. I did watch a bit of that trap showcase video on the x1 dash and it looked hot.

That's a really nice setup they've got on the X1 dash btw, basically has all of the videos that they've put out so far (produced ones, not stream stuff).

I'm trying to come up with a Jet Grind reference for the OT name but I'm slippin'.

Their brand of humor is my biggest issue. The game looks like a lot of fun, but the tone is a total miss for me. Not a single line of dialog even got a smirk out of me - indifference at best, wincing irritation at worst. It's not even really about jokes, gags or wit - it's just the main character being a smug smart-ass who swears for no good reason. It's painfully juvenile.

Will be buying it, really looking forward to it, but MAN - it's not funny to me at all.

I'm super looking forward to this game, but I can't stand the sense of humor the game has either. It misses every mark for me yet still feels like it's trying too hard.
 
Not liking the humour all that much. Once I saw the flaming compensator I knew which direction they are taking the game.

I do look forward to the new Ratchet instead which for me is far funnier.

I say it will get mixed reviews. I am getting annoyed with all the grinding involved and I am just watching it. It is going to be a love it or have it game.

I'm not purchasing this game, though I did attend the last launch event for Destiny. I won some $160 dollar Turtle Beach Headphones.

They had pizza, drinks, shirts, ect, people were pretty cool too.
 
I tried streaming for a couple hours and realized that it only broadcast the intro screen. Looks like that was entirely my fault, oh well!

Hope I can get this fixed in time to try out Chaos Squad.

Edit: @Silky, review copy. Might be the same for other outlets.

It was a good run down of what the game was about. I don't know if it was just your play style but there seemed far too much rail grinding. It is a great way to get around fast but it looks like you have to constantly keep doing it for combo's.

I play more stand your ground play style like in the Ratchet games and it looks like I won't last too long if I tried that.
 
Game looks super fun, and the graphics look fantastic.

Pretty funny actually, even with all the resolution and framerate talk, this game looks a lot more "next-gen" compared to most X1/PS4 titles. The lack of pop-in, the smooth transition from cutscenes to gameplay, the sheer amount of stuff going on - very impressive. Might just get an Xbox for this.
 
This game is beautiful. Not just the graphics but the visual style. You can tell Insomniac had been itching to do heavily stylized human characters for a while.

It's a shame Overstri- uh "FUZE" didn't pan out.
 
I just watched the stream and it looks great. I can't wait to get this game in my hands. Hopefully, it doesn't disappoint like so many other games this year.
 
Watched a stream last night and loved everything except the music. I think the music fits the tone of the game, but I just don't care for garage band.

Didn't like Insomniac's games when they were PS exclusive, looks like I won't like them as XBox exclusives.

Oh well, at least they're bringing a bit of colour into gaming, but there's absolutely nothing that appeals to me here outside of the colour palette.

This games looks fairly different than their other games. Curious what the main turn off is?
 
Is there no day-night cycle? If not, do they have more times of day than just the noon-time and the one night time ToD? I'd love to see a sunset time of day or morning, or raining.
 
I think the humor is something that is less funny if you just see 1 joke out of context than if you play it through. Quite a few of the streamers I have seen in the past couple of days have laughed out loud or commented that they thought the jokes were good.
 
At the beginning with The Microsoft and Insomniac logos on the fridge, did anyone else catch the fake game names? At around 8:50 in the video in the op.
