Street Fighter IV is 5 years old today

After watching EVO I'm on my yearly SF4 kick again so if anyone wants to play you can add me on 360, PS3, or PC - BizzyBum

This game changed my life.
I've made so many friends playing Street Fighter. My circle of friends is pretty much all fighting game players now!
I even met my current girlfriend when she was cosplaying at a Vanilla SF4 tournament.

I would have liked better backgrounds. They need to take note of Alpha 2/3 & the SNK games for some sick backgrounds. The backgrounds in SF4 series is just too bland and generic. Gives me an Alpha 1 feel.

I would LOVE for Capcom to add in a World Tour mode for ULTRA. That would be amazing

Host Samurai about stage backgrounds.

Also I would add that BGM of the SF4 series to be the weakest of the SF franchise.

they can't even get the Akuma, Gouken themes straight when fighting in versus mode LOL

Easily my favorite game of the generation and one of my all time favorites. Really the only game I play these days.

Been playing Street Fighter for over 20 years... Still play HD Remix, SSFIV and UMvC3 from time to time. I'll probably get the new ultra dlc as well.

One of my fave series of all time.

Happy 5th year SF4!

I'm still terribly bad at it but nonetheless, I do enjoy it very much. Maybe with Ultra coming out, I'll actually learn how to play properly.

I fail to see the lol. Makoto is awesome ,but far from a top tier.
Far? She's just a little outside of it. Makoto mains still seem to be traumatized from her original Super iteration. Makoto is good. She's not the best or amazingly overwhelming, but she is pretty good. She probably will get some buffs, because that seems to be the theme for Ultra "buffs for everyone!", but it's not like she needs them more than other characters.

Poor Deejay.

Remember the first months on online? No? Here. Let's jog your memory:

Is this not the case any more? Wow. I've always loved SF (but suck at it) and I gave up because it was nothing but Kens. I think I may have downloaded the AE update but didn't try it.

I think dan needs some fair buffs, like far standing MP being cancelable

I played in celebration last night for the first time in a while and it was very varied. Played against Makoto, Vega, Gouken, Oni, Evil Ryu, Ryu, Cammy, Bison, Juri, Dudley, Cody and Guy. All on random ranked matches.

I love the game but all these re-releases are getting tired. Give the people what they want, SFV with an artstyle and proportions more akin to SF3 along with 3rd Strike's parry system and the largest roster imaginable, with a return of all SF characters and call it a day Shit Capcom, make alot of those characters dlc if you must to make it even more profitable but just please, please release the damn game! Oh and of course put it on next-gen consoles

Man, what is even going on with this post?

I remember during Vanilla I use to play so much I had tons of dreams where I was in random arcades and I ended up finding a SF4 cab and started playing people and having people watch like it was the 90's.

I was always so sad when I woke up.. LOL

That was only for a little while, really. Ended years ago.

Man... I don't really play the game at all anymore, but I will never forget the first day the game came to Chinatown Fair in NYC.
EVERYONE was there, including big names like Justin Wong and Sanford Kelly. It was a lot of fun seeing people try new things or try old things (from ST, 3S or Alpha games) to see if they work.
Every combo, no matter how simple, got oohs and awes from the crowd around the machine. And when it came to Supers and Ultras... forget about it, the place went nuts, especially if one connected.

I remember that day I tried out Viper, Abel, and Ken (remember that the original arcade version only had the SF2 characters, excluding the new challengers, and the 4 new ones). I had early success with Abel, since I knew how to mix up his rekka chain. I even took a round off of Justin

It was a great day and it felt like we had just gone back in time to 1992 and everyone was cool and just had fun playing the new game.

I've always felt the flowchart criticisms leveled at players of certain characters across various games are not really very fair. These games are really complex, y'know? It's not that easy to develop a style of play that lets you adapt smoothly on the fly. Sometimes you just need to fall back on the blueprints for a while.

Agreed but SF3 had some great backgrounds. Especially 2nd Impact.

all these re-releases are getting tired? it's been their business model from SF2 onwards. without the re-releases, there might not be any sequels.

fuck now I'm depressed

They already confirmed Makoto is getting buffed and I don't see why Yun won't get buffed either, he's not exactly top 10.

Says who? Lots of tier lists have Yun in top 10 and Makoto in top 15. Not every character is going to be at the top of the pack they need to buff the horrible characters before they buff good ones IMO.
