Street Fighter pads from MadCatz

i hit home button with the Madcatz controller, it took me to the XMB, but the game was on in the background! weird! it's supposed to pause....no?

No, in-game XMB opens up with the game still running in the background. There is no automatic pausing.

If I had to play this on the 360, I'd definitely get one of these. But I'm on the PS3, and so far, my execution/grip/everything is better with the DS3 than the MC fightpad. Shit just doesn't feel right, or, alternately, I love the DS3 too much. And the D-pad's great on it; I can't get used to the MC one, but it's definitely better than the 360's dpad.

Oh...and this Ken MC fightpad went defective after 30 minutes of use, did I mention that? :lol Tapping a direction results in that direction being held. Wonderful. Not worth $50 cdn.

The only thing I would want is some kind of analog stick adapter for the D-pad. I still can't do circle motions fast enough.

A non essential change would be to move the LB over to the right shoulder. There's no reason a button should be near the D-pad. It's an unnatural position, especially if you are trying to do a complicated motion with the d-pad while trying to time the LB button press.

Hey if you're near a Fry's Electronics may want to make a quick road trip. I just happened to go in this morning while out running errands and they had one of each type on the shelf for the XBox360 (here in Indianapolis). I didn't see if they had any for the PS3 because I was in hurry. But I did grab two controllers for my XBox360 (Ryu and Ken). Even the sales staff was caught off guard, they didn't even know they had them in the store. As of 11am this morning I know my local store has at least 2 more. So like I said, you may want to look for yourself.

Also, I didn't even think that I could use my X-Arcade on my PS3. But at my Fry's they had SFIV set up on a PS3 using a deluxe X-Arcade joystick (two stick and a track ball on one mounting). They used a PS2 to to USE adaptor with the X-Arcade PS2 adaptor (I think I know they used two adaptors in series and the sales guy told me they didn't have the parts in stock but they would later). I was in a hurry so I didn't check out the setup myself, but I will dig my old X-Arcade out of storage, for my pals who have the game on PS3.

I know this may suond weird to the purists, but I like prefer the X-Arcade to the basic Hori stick (i.e. mine is the Dead or Alive fighting stick released for Xbox360).

Anyway...check your local Fry's you may get lucky like I did. If I know how to post picks I would....

are the madcatz SF4 tournament sticks available anywhere? i'm going insane! Amazon is charging $450 for each! :(

They will flood the market with them in March.

The size and glossy top is a huge distraction during heated moments.

Are you sure you're talking about the pad? :lol

Yeah they took down the Buy.com second batch preorder. Sorry man. And given how flaky they were about sending the CE of SF4 and some of the sticks, it might not be the best way to go.

I'm planning on checking around Wilsonville and Beaverton when I go pick up Killzone 2 this weekend. I'll let you know if I find any.

The Gamestop in Wilsonville has some Fightpads, but I haven't found anyone that still has arcade sticks.

Still have the PS3 Ken FightPad that I'm looking to sell for $60 shipped in CONUS. Going to return it next week if nobody wants it.

They're both USB, but they're not compatible unless you mod them. Check out the arcade stick thread.

I sold 4 of them from $81 to $101 on ebay so this is kind of a deal.

Not really. Considering how there will be more out in a few weeks. Might as well wait and get a stick. These pads are already overpriced at retail. Some people are just impatient/have money to throw around I guess.

After I collect payment, I will think about it. =)

You should be giving them away for free. I can't believe you are selling things for money and responding to market demand. I'm gonna go to Best Buy or Wal-mart where they break even on every transaction and only act as a mediator between me and the greedy fucks who built the product and are trying to sell it for money.

The D-Pad is mushy and too big. Corners really need to be pushed to register. It's also light, chinsy, and not that comfortable.

In other words a vast, vast improvement over the 360 controller.

Coming from someone who is such a D-Pad enthusiast I have entered several Street Fighter tournaments with a Sega Saturn pad.

This thing gets the job done, and is a must for Xbox owners. Once you figure out you have to really push the corners (part of this issue is to do with how big the D-pad itself is) everything works buttery goodness. I can do Super moves now. My god.

You PlayStation owners though, get yourselves Saturn pads.

I found a pad at Best Buy yesterday. I was pretty stoked. Only thing I really like about the pad is the button layout. The dpad still doesn't seem to register correctly to me :/ Have a lot of trouble pulling off supers with some characters.

Much better than 360 pad for sure, but still not what I was hoping for =(

I agree about the largeness and effort it takes to hit those diags. However, after a few weeks, my muscle memory is down and using it is effortless.

Does this pad fuck up your thumb like the 360 dpad?

I bought a mad catz third party regular Xbox controller for this game. My thumb was a total blistered wreck after using it for an hour.

I picked up the SF4 pad a few days ago, and have played 6+ hours on it, and don't even notice any blisters or even soreness on my thumb.

This pad is awesome.

I have original Saturn controller with a magic box converter hooked to the PS3, now the game works perfectly well, but when i lose a battle not a single button would allow me to continue, no matter what button i press the counter will keep counting down till it hits zero! :(

does the same happen to the USB Saturn controller? (pictured below?)

btw, i the madcatz controller pads are absolute trash...and i hate joysticks, but if all fail, i'll get the Madcatz Tournament Stick.

i need to make a decision quick to purchase the USB Saturn controller from ebay!

thanks!

I had bought the ken pad for ps3 thinking it was the problem to my frustrating sf4 problems. But after awhile i went back to the stick i have and im doing really well with it now. Do you guys think I could sell my opened controller on ebay? i threw out the packaging because I thought Id want to hold onto my pad. Im just leary because the pad works fine for right now, but i know tons of people have had problems. Im scared ill sell it, send it, then someone will say they have a problem with it on their ps3.

God dammit. I can't believe the 360 pads are already $75+ on eBay. I'm kicking myself for letting these things pass me by.

I'm pretty desperate for a decent 360 controller, but not quite that desperate. I think I'll try one more go at the local stores before getting into bidding wars.

On the USB Saturn pad start is correctly mapped when it's plugged into a PS3. It works wonderfully.

Got mine at Best Buy, should have grabbed the 2nd one that was there.

Better than 360 pad for sure, but still not optimal.
