Street Fighter pads from MadCatz

Got 2 360 pads. One works wonder and one is broke apparently. The area around the bottom of the dpad isn't colored. It's just white underneath the dpad and you can't do a fireball motion to save your life. Godamnit Madcatz.

I will be playing and sometimes my down button is stick down..even when I push up it just goes down..and sometimes it just keeps going right. PS3 version.

How about the Arcade Stick? Is it good? (the $70 one, not the premium one that I cannot afford) How does it compare to the pad?

Also is the normal 360 pad really that bad for SF4?

This works godly with SFIV (360 version)

I thought the pad was ok when I got it, playing ssf2hd and all...plus games like N+.

but it really was designed for this game, I got my 100 special moves achievement in like 15 minutes...now I just got to learn how to play

props Mr. MarkMan, price aint too bad either

I wish we had a c. viper pad =/

My main issue with the 360 dpad is accidently jumping when quickly switching from back and forward. The left shoulder buttons are also really difficult to use.

The SE stick is hit or miss due to build quality issues. I am waiting for MadCatz to announce that they will cover it under warranty for more than the standard 90 days, otherwise it's pretty much for modders only.

I'm a stick noob too, and I'm trying to decide between getting the Hori EX2 (about $40) or going all out on the HRAP EX or EX-SE($130+). I don't want to drop a c note if I end up liking the gamepad better but I also don't want the poor quality of the stick to prevent me from getting comfortable with it.

was happening to me as well, I hope it just needs to be broken in... seems to have happened less as the night went on.

I finally tracked down a 360 pad last night. These things are currently hard to get, at least around here. Called 7 different Gamestops that all supposedly have it in stock, and all but 1 said that they were either already sold out or "on hold" for people and had no idea when or if they'd get more in. Bought the last one from a place in the next town.

Tried it out last night and I like it a lot. It's not Saturn perfect, but it's a really good six button pad. I'd say it was better than the DC Ascii or the SF 15th anniversary pads. I downloaded the trials for UMK3, SFII, SFIIHD, and busted out my old Xbox SF Anniversary collection. Didn't have much if any problem playing any of these games or pulling off special moves after a couple minutes to adjust my motions. 3rd Strike played great, and I had no problem pulling off DPs or FBs from either direction.

I'm picking up SFIV today, so I'll have an opportunity to try that out tonight.

That has happened to me as well... PS3 here too.

OK, I bought 2 of the pads, one for 360 and one for PS3.

The pads are virtually the same, except the PS3 uses a dongle for wireless, and the 360 is corded.

The D-Pad is VERY similar to the D-Pad from the Saturn controller, which is a good thing. The buttons are quite flat overall, and I really like them. You can't power-up either system with the respective pads, but that honestly doesn't bother me much.

360 Pad:
Worth it in my opinion, simply because the alternatives are insanely slim on the 360. It's great for games like Pac-Man CE, Time Pilot etc. The cord is quite long, and it's a very nice design.

PS3 Pad, yeah, it's wireless which is nice, but...
If you can get them cheaper, I'd say that the USB Saturn Pads are just fine overall. $40 for each of these is a bit steep when you can get the Saturn pads for around $20'ish.

I played 92 online games yesterday on PS3. I played about 20 with a Duslshock and the rest with the SFIV pad and there was a huge difference with the D-Pad. I'm not saying the Dualshock has a bad D-pad, it's actually really nice, the only bad thing is that my thumb started to hurt after a while from the constant friction from the 4 seperate D-pad "nubs".

If you are going to play a shit-ton of this game and you prefer a controller over a stick, I'd say that it is HIGHLY recommended you get one of these pads. The D-Pad is smooth and rocks easily so there is little thumb movement required to pull off your moves. Beuno Job Senor Catz!

got it. don't like it. keeping it because it's better than the 360 dpad.

its hard to do certain hadoukens and shoryukens. good for charges. If I had more money I'd just buy an arcade stick. it seems very cheaply built, and I think it's a ripoff at 40 when it's not even wireless, but it's better than the stock dpad, so w/e.

The Dpad on the PSP2000 is BETTER than the DS3 for fighters ....been playing ALOT of KoF on my PSP and was suprised to find this out. Reason being, the "nubs" are slipperly plastic that makes it really effortless to glide/roll your thumb over it...not to mention they're really elevated and close together. The rubber Dpad of the DS3 is the opposite and like others said, seem to just create more friction

indeed, i hate playing fighting games with the DS d-pad

Question about the Saturn USB pads on PS3, does one of the buttons register as the start button?

I have an SNES controller modded to be a HID USB device. It works on PS3 but I tried to play Mega Man 9 and none of the buttons register as Start so I can't play the game with it.

Yeah, that's my primary complaint with it. I think the d-pad is greatly for platformers, but it sucks for fighters that require rolling motions. It's accurate, but not super comfortable.

the neogeo pocket color has an awesome analog stick. works so well with fighting games. i wish the PSP copied them

nah dude I bought mine at best buy

I've seen and purchased these for both consoles @ gamestops and best buys. They are difficult to find though, because they've been out for over a week.

The HRAP EX-SE is at a minimum $250. The HRAP EX is the best compromise between quality and price, unless you have a lot of money to burn.

So.

The 360 Mad Catz Fight Pad I got two weekends ago has been working GREAT. No problems, love it.

The PS3 Fight Pad I got last night, on the other hand...it's all kinds of messed up. It's registering left, down, and right on the d-pad as kicks, and the d-pad is unresponsive on menu screens.

The weird thing is, it works much better on other games. I tried HD Remix and it was fine, *but* I did get a few kicks and punches from just doing 360s on the d-pad. Is my pad just screwed up or is this a common issue?

Think I am going to return it and see about ordering some Saturn pads instead. I can't play SF4 with a standard six axis very well.

which is recommended? Hard to come by?

I don't know. I've got a 3-in-1 adapter for the PC (USB) that also works on the PS3. It allows me to use Saturn, PS2, or DC controllers on the PC/PS3. I've had it for many years so I don't even know whether they are being made any more.

I have purchased one Mad Catz product in my life and it was utter shit. This brand name will always be synonymous with poor build quality. Logitech ftw

I bought one burger from McDonald's and they forgot the pickles! This restaurant will always be synonymous with cooks making mistakes, as clearly they can never get it right. Every McDonald's burger until the end of time will be lacking in pickles. Arby's FTW!

Interesting. My wife's laptop seemed to be causing some sort of interference with the controller. I shut it off and now the pad was fine. However to make sure, I turned it back on again, and the pad went back to being haywire, only this time it won't stop.

I noticed something. For some reason I can pull off moves more accurately in SFIV than HDR.
I was just saying that in the SFIV thread, pad play seems a lot more forgiving and easier. I like it.

Good to know. I have a laptop running wifi in the room I usually game in so this may effect my purchase of a PS3 Fightpad.

If the laptop has bluetooth or any kind of wireless, turn it off...
