Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

a beta (and a real one, at that) having issues is fine, but it's also why companies should probably stop using them as preorder incentives.

yep...i'm not sure why they opted to use pre-orders as a source of beta codes. basically they had no way of controlling the scale of how many people could access the system. this is why you have a closed beta first and then you slowly scale it up.

i'd be curious to know how many people from outside NA were let into the beta program as even after they supposedly shut those people out, the servers still couldn't handle the load from NA.

They clearly weren't ready for the volume they got as Combofiend stated. I'd rather wait a week or two for them to take care of things on their end than playing endurance sets against 007AnyButton006 for 6 hours.

Playing training mode for so long in the beta has encouraged me to finally use training mode in ULTRA.

I...I think I'm learning.

I'm not completely shit anymore...I actually managed to level up two of my characters passed C+ in Ultra. I can do standard combos online now!

I'll play Ultra with you. I'm pretty bad myself.

Guys what do you think is the possibility of getting Ken and/or Necalli added to the beta because of this whole mess? I'm crossing my fingers for at least Ken since I'm thinking of maining him.

Just read the OP. Delayed indefinitely. I'm cool with that. Hopefully it has its shit together for the next one! Also like the idea of a reward. Gimme dat zenny.

Oh well at least I got a good 15 minutes of training time divided between Ryu, Cammy, Bison, and Charlie (or Nash if you like) Cammy's speed is just insane, and I can see myself using Charlie a lot. It may have been just a small taste, but I liked it.

Well, the worst thing that can happen now is that the beta gets rescheduled to next week while I am on vacation.

The salt levels will be catastrophic

The bonus content for beta participants will be this thread printed out.

I don't have a ps4 yet but would playing ultra be a good way to start preparing for 5?

You should play Ultra because it's one of the best fighting games ever. And if you don't like it; you probably won't like 5. But as far as preparation goes -- the mechanics are really different.

The Cross Counter video is fantastic for teaching new players about SF or fighting games in general. Added that to OP as well.

Hopefully VesperArcade finishes their Birdie breakdown soon.

isn't omega mode supposed to be closer to sfv? why don't more people play it again? is it broken in some way or people just don't like the character changes?

i don't have ultra yet

can you play sf4 vs. ssf4 vs. ae vs ultra vs. omega characters against each other?

Was wondering that myself, am not familiar with Omega at all.
For Ultra, and Cammy to be exact should I be learning Omega or Ultra version?

I still think Ultra on PS4 is pretty shit online. Much better since the launch fiasco, though. If you have a PC or 360 there's no reason to play on the PS4. I rank them:

PC > 360 > PS4 > PS3

IMO, PC > PS4 = 360 > PS3. They sorted the PS4 version right out. It's basically a 1080p version of the 360 version now.

I'm OK with them delaying the beta... I much rather wait for them to clean things up a bit then go through that experience again.

The very, very limited time I had with the game had me craving for nothing but more.

Is this the general consensus? I stopped following the PS4 after seeing the shit they released.

360 is still better by a hair. But I'm sure another update won't hurt. I want to say PC is better than all but it could get ugly

360 version has a very slight edge in input lag but the main reason it's still better is that it doesn't freeze. Everytime I tried Ultra on the PS4 my game froze multiple times. I also felt the 360 had better connections.

I'm strictly talking about online play here for my rankings.

Having played both the 360 and PS4 back to back , I really feel the online is much better on 360. I simply cannot find a game with full green bars on the PS4 ( is this some other external issue? )

Street Fighter 5 is better. But what's all this about Ultra being shit?

The SFIV series has given us a ridiculous amount of great matches, so it's not shit. Even UltraDavid and Chen were taking positively about it last week in their post-EVO ultrachen. The game is solid and will be known as a great competitive entry within the franchise, but the biggest problem is that it's among the least fun to play.

Seth Killian may have saved the game originally, but you can see just how many baffling decisions were made and it's not surprising since I suspect Ono of being completely wack (SFxT was a complete mess as far as unfinished and sloppy mechanics such as Pandora).

It seems Ono input is being reduced for SFV, which should result in a better game and one of the strongest entry in the franchise.

ugh gootecks able to do a full episode is even more fishy then max ... you have to setup the stuff to record wait for your guest and time that all around being able to login to the beta...... you could also see 2 or 3 cuts during the episode where i assume they got kicked but were able to get back to have a full 40 min of playing time, hell they could of gone even longer but wanted to end the episode

I'm not even going to say that SF5 is better, because that's silly at this point. But they're extremely different games with different a different focus.

Just like every numbered SF title.
