Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I'll play Omega mode.

I realized in SF V, it feels like a different ball game compared to USF4. It's more execution friendly and more of mind game style of fighting.

I also like all characters are powerful in their own game. Will Capcom keep its mentality to not nerf characters and instead strengthen weak characters for an even ball game?

Has anybody been using V-Reversals btw? I completely forgotten about it until I saw literally 1 person use it and he did it on a Hadoken I threw at him from half a screen away. Though I'm pretty sure he didn't know what was doing since he was mashing heavies mostly and doing full screen Shoryukens.

Man.....I'm hungry for some more playtime.

I am playing Nash right now, he is cool but he seems like he would be easier for me on stick.

Same. I want to practice his lk -> mk -> lp -> mp link after watching some youtubes last night. Almost ordered a TE2, but I'll hold off since there's next to nothing else I'd use it for until 2016.

I do. I use 3 button punch for EX moves, so my finger is always on the trigger for it.

Why are so many people posting their wins and title status? It's a beta, most people are terrible, and shits gonna reset. Like, who gives a fuck.
Don't be salty yet man...game ain't even here yet?

Yeah, I definitely found that odd....people are just learning the ropes of the new game and people want to boast about their wins in a beta. I imagine if you mainly play shotos or charged characters you would be at home with the roster somewhat, but I'm sure people are still trying to get to grips with the V-trigger and how they should use it anyway. Hitting HP+HK feels a bit odd for me on the DS4, especially if you play Nash.
Again, if you are not pro level, which most of us aren't, and hovering around that intermediate place, where we are all likely a good month away from match-up studying until we get to pro level, what else do you play fighting games for besides showcasing your skill and bragging rights? Yeah, there's a lot of scrubs online right now, but if you are fighting vet, it's an accomplishment to be owning 90% of the players out there right now because it proves you have solid fundamentals. Nothing wrong with sharing your success, that's what fighting games are all about anyway.

I played Valle and got absolutely bodied on stream. Starts at 1:03:46.
Don't let the star power get to you man! You played zero defense against him, and I can tell you know some Nash tech. body him next time, he was jumping too much.

Here's my matches on my FB. Sorry for the quality but I got a nice body on a Nash and the Chun li match was pretty great IMO.

There was a Ryu player during the Capcom UK WSO sessions that didn't like Ryu's V-Trigger so he just kept using V-Reversal whenever he was stuck in a block string and had the meter. It seemed like it really disrupted the opponent's rhythm.

Yeah, and its easy to rebuild V-guage meter. There is little downside to using V-reversal for Ryu.

Nice matches. I had a few matches with ryu last night and coming from
Playing 3s parrying felt so satisfying. I think
I could fused some people that kept jumping in and I would parry their jump in Fk and punish. So good.

Parry feels so good, especially catching Bison's scissor kick...No more spamming! It honestly feels a little uneven atm, but I'm not a designer, so just speculating, but Parry feels the best V-skill in the game. Ryu feels like he's not "weak" at anything. You have to play him very honest, you can't be predicable, or he'll parry. You can't jump in on him reckless or you'll eat a nice DP. You have to mindful of his zoning, and when he gets Dejin very cautious. He really feels like Akira in VF5 right now.

I just hope my Ken is as good as Jacky, because he's always my main. But atm from first impressions

parry > run

'-( Please be good Ken.

Sweet, I really need to try it when in game but I just keep forgetting about it. Might have to change L2 to 3P since I don't really use it much.

Also I'm really glad that Ryu's V-Skill is parry since it saved my ass many times and I'm getting pretty good at it against jump ins. When it lags though.....nope.

Last night was fun. I hope Chun gets buffed a bit, but I was at least having some success with Bison.

To the people complaining that everyone is scrubby - you do realize that a lot of people playing SFV probably have little experience with the genre and haven't played a SF game in years, right? Especially considering this beta was basically free if you preordered and canceled at amazon like it seems a lot of people did. Y'all gotta relax. Everyone starts as a scrub.

Nice. I played him as well and it was so damn close. He just barely won at the end with a yolo shoryuken lol.

So is Cammy in yet? Playing Bison was fun but he's not for me.
Beta is down. Cammy was never added. I agree that Bison is not for me, though he has some sick stuff. I just don't enjoy his neutral.

Question for everyone: during the stress test yesterday, you might have fought players from a different country. What countries and how many? How was the connection?

I live Orange County, CA.
Mexico - fine
U.K. - okay to dodgy
Sweden - okay
Singapore - bad
France - bad
U.S. - fucking sucks 7/10 time.
Germany - okay.
Canada - okay.
I'm wired though a power line adapter. I get 50 down, 7.5 up on the power line.

I suspect that a ton of the U.S. players were on WiFi.

Played against a lot of Europeans and Americans. I am Brazilian.
Most of the matches, it was playable. Not perfect.

Weird is that some of the most lagged was against a Chilean. And I fought another Brazilian and it was worst than some of my matches against Europeans.

Then again, my Internet connection could be acting up. but I wans't going to reboot in this beta lol

I played against a dude from the US, i'm in Germany. The connection wasn't the best. Fireballs and other moves would just appear out of nowhere sometimes.

Playing from Belgium, through wifi connection (yes, it sucks). Played against some Americans (mostly choppy, though one was good) and other Europeans (FR, NL, IT) (fairly good).

I was on WiFi and my opponents were all on the same continent - at least when I bothered to check. My first match may have been a Euro/SE Asian, because the lag was horrendous. The rest were generally okay, none were perfect. I'll be wired when (if?) the servers come back up.

I'm sorry for asking a question that must've been asked before but is it still possible to get the key for pre-ordering? Anybody have any experiences with how long it might take after doing so? I just pre-ordered on amazon and would love to jump in asap!

I fought some people in France and Brazil and those matches felt decent and sometimes way better than some of the Americans I fought who were obviously on wireless.

Fought people from Spain and England and that reigion. Netcode really didn't like that. Lots of teleporting Nashes even without V trigger.

My location UK: London

Everyone I played was in the states and the connection was mash potato mixed with a too much butter, whipped over the course of an hour, type smooth.

I kept having the mp whiff in that link. Is there a trick, do I need to be point blank?

you have to be close

i prefer going into his kick target combo if I'm going to end up out of range

c.lk, s.lk >* mk~hk~f+mk

*link so you don't get s.lk~s.mk target combo instead

From Southeast US. Had matches against folks in Britain, Australia, Germany, France, Mexico, Canada and Brazil. I guess anything across the ocean was bad for me, warping all day. Matches with People in mexico and canada were perfectly fine. Had a bit of lag with someone in brazil but it wasn't downright unplayable.

btw the netcode was not really good, but I;m used to playing SFxTekken, so I just go on with my combo's after a decent hitconfirm
