Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

got loads of games, 1 in an hour was laggy, to all the new ryu's out there when charlie has v trigger or super don't fireball.

did you guys know you can view replays of your games on the main menu?

also the main menu music is cool

happy chappy here pity this wasn't how it went a few weeks ago

Got into my first ever matches today.

First match I lost both rounds without ever getting a single hit in.

Second round I still lost, but at least I managed to actually hit the guy once or twice.

I am terrible at Street Fighter. Everytime I try to get into fighting games I get a sharp reminder that I am not suited to them at all. Playing on a pad doesn't help, but it's probably just time to accept I'm never going to be any good at fighting games.

you probably haven't put in enough time or effort or sought much guidance

it's not that hard--don't count yourself out now. it takes a while to get good but if you're interested, becoming at least competent is a worthy and achievable goal by IMO just about any gamer

Now is the best time to learn, since there are so many beginners. Watch some other players, look at some tutorials, you'll get better.

Do not go online to play people if you are new to the game, have fun and get comfortable with the game in arcade mode first. Also spend some time experimenting in practice mode.

Going straight online is a very bad idea when starting out.

(I'm talking for when you get the actual game)

You are bad at street fighter because you don't play it. If you took the time to learn the game you would develop your skills. Fighting games are not a genre where you can get a lot of output for little input like most other types of games. You need to work for it and you can do it if you want to put in the effort. There are a ton of resources out there for beginners looking to learn and improve.

Don't be discouraged that you are using a controller, many of the best players play on pad.

After some more testing I found you can cancel into Bison's Super from:

- Any Scissor kicks version (only after the first hit)

- The new anti-air thing (I still haven't found any use for this except for veeeery early reads)

- Devil Reverse! This is huge, as soon as they eat the backhand you can cancel into Super

- In fact you can cancel into Super the normal stomp because you can do the Super mid-air

It serves as anti-air and you can do it in the air too. This is getting nerfed for sure.

We have noticed that the match-making system was not optimised correctly. We've applied some improvements to the match-making system based on the last 2 hours of data. Match quality should improve although players with bad quality connections will find it harder to find a match.

Huh, I think my attack just went straight through the enemy. Wasn't even a hitbox thing! I stood right in front of him and my cr. short just went straight through the enemy without anything happening at all :D.

Jesus the taunting guys are pissing me off.
Edit: Had a match against a guy called "Karl-vs-Capcom" or something like that, he was playing Nash and was pretty damn good.

Going to try this all out in just 2 hours

Look up gootecks sf5 fundamentals on youtube.

I won most of my Bison games despite being unable to pull of the Down->Up charge moves.

I then lost every single game I tried with Ryu.

How does the beta determine your region? Your country? The code's region?

I have an european and a canadian PSN account (because Sony can't be bothered to extend their account system to allow changing regions ¬_¬) and access to the beta in both. I had to download two different SFV betas, for each region (now I have no idea which region each one of those is), so I think that the region is hardcoded into the beta itself.

Thanks for the advice folks, it's much appreciated. I'll get there someday. I might go back and put a fair amount of time into Street Fighter 2 HD/USF4 for now before I even think about returning to the beta. I'll miss the V-Skills though... what little taste I got of Ryu's, I liked.

Um, sweeps are like the most awkward thing ever in this game. No comprende! No range, take years to recover and just feel very off in general :D!

Ryus SF V sweep might be the worst sweep I have ever seen in a fighting game. No range, no damage, insane disadvantage on whiff :D. Poor guy!

Guys I don't know if this is allowed here or not, so if it's not please let me know and I'll edit my post, but although I just joined these forums, I'm a huge fighting game fan, and I make moble apps for Android and iOS.

I have a free SF5 guide that is out for iOS and Android (with an in-app purchase). It has all of the moves lists (including Necalli, Vega, and Ken) as well as target combos and stuff too, and a way you can enter your own combos. All of that stuff is included in the free version.

Here's the link to the support thread over on SRK that has links to it in iOS and Android:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/discuss...os-and-android-ken-necalli-and-vega-now-added

Again, if this is NOT allowed here please let me know asap and I'll remove this post. I just figured it is relevant since it's SF5 related and quite a few people in this thread are asking about how to do combos and moves.

I guess as long as it's on-topic & helpful to those playing beta it's fine. But I'd check with a mod just to be safe.
