Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

Wow....Birdie is just....not beatable with Ryu. I mean a good Birdie. It's just....there's nothing you can do inside and out. I'm sure someone will tell me other wise but in the match I just had. I just don't see it. Just don't. There was a counter for absolutely every strategy. Maybe the dude was just really good but wow.

Bison seems tough for Chun. Does b.HK cleanly anti-air the headstomp? I should test it out in a match but I have too much trauma from the stupidity of that move in SF4.

Stomp is so inconsistent for me. Sometimes it lands right next to my opponent. -_-

He's not wrong though.

I can't wait until the retail release, then we will get to play 16 characters that won't block.
I'm too busy mastering the depths of Bison. :-D

Got a recording on hand?

need to get my timing and strats right for the ryu's that like to panic hadoken after I kill half their bar.

Is there some reason you can't just lame out Chun Li? She's the only character in this beta without a good way to deal with projectiles. Her own projectile is the weakest in the Beta IMO. Her mix-ups are really not good. That Hazanshu esque overhead stops for a second as if to say "please stand block now" and everything else is successfully blocked low. Her jump is floaty and her cross-up is kinda bad.

She's got great buttons: cr.mk, f.mp, b.hk+s.lk for anti-airs, etc but if you don't engage with her I think you can frustrate her.

By far the least of the Beta characters IMO. I have a like 90% win ratio so far with her, but the march of lesser players makes her options seem better than they maybe are. Next one I face, I'm just gonna down back, anti-air and punish legs and see how it goes.

no recording but I tried that it didn't do shit. I wish I could tell you more but I tried to erase it from my mind :|

I tried range, I tried staying close, jumping was a complete no go. There was literally not a single thing I could think of doing.

Karstickles (?) I almost won against a CAMMY using what little I know of bison but I was too scared to do anything

He is defensive right? I tried to keep pressure with up down P but she read that quick

Birdie is a character that reaps big rewards off of successful reads. If your playstyle remains varied, he'll have a hard time dealing with you.

Also, the variations in the timings of your chargeable hadoukens while in V-trigger give Birdie a REAL struggle.

Use your long range tools and punish his efforts to get around them.

Watch some of my gameplay videos to see how to use him. The key is to always be charging Knee Press. Use it to get in and chip, but if it's blocked you need to be ready to defend. If it hits, go into Psycho Inferno chains for big chip/damage. His jump-ins are good, don't be afraid to go for them sometimes.

Is anyone else getting lots of matches with poor connection quality? I'm not usually one to complain, but it has gotten so bad that I can't get moves off at times or will do something by accident. It's frustrating trying to get something very basic off and watching nothing happen or the wrong input get registered, win or lose.

It wasn't this bad for me during the stress tests.

I am getting matches every 3-5 minutes.

Just had an epic Bison match where he tried to super as an anti-air. So I used my super while in the air to stall. Then we continued in the neutral, haha.

You guys must be extremely lucky. My connection shouldn't be an issue - I'm wired and on the West Coast. Was literally sitting in training for the past hour and only got three matches.

this might have been placebo but I meant to mention it here--after getting like 1 game per hour on Friday, I decided to do a safe mode update on my PS4. turns out there was something to be installed (why it didn't do so after normal restarts/PSN connections, I have no fucking idea). the next was slightly better. could be all random, though, but fuck it, I'd try it.

That feel when you catch someone on an off game. Faced a high ass ranking Nash and perfected him on the match point. Sorry man :( Happens to the best of us.

His jumping HP won me two rounds in a row I'll be sure to look at the videos

laggy cammy is by far the dumbest shit. it's impossible to deal with the walk peed and jump timings

i mean i probably would have lost badly regardless but =(

I would add he has good pokes. Cr. MP is my go-to attack when getting pressured on the ground and standing mk. His cr. Hp is decent for anti-airs just watch for the opponent jump-ins and cross-ups when charging down-back most of the time.

this is getting kind of funny. I've only been fighting chuns and cammys. beating the former handily and have yet to win against the latter.

Really? The secret to Cammy is just patience. She doesn't have any great neutral tools. I think I've lost to one Cammy so far, and he was just a boss with the oki game after a throw.

Heh. I baited a Nash crescent kick on his wakeup and ate the first hit with armor and gored him for the win.

Beat anyone with the banana or can yet? So satisfying. I even tried to beat someone with the bugger the other day but it takes way too long to happen (they can get stunned, get up, shake it off and hit you before the idle animation even starts).
