Street Fighter V Beta Thread: Welcome, future '16ers! (Currently Inactive!)

I'm always losing, not by a huge margin but every players are level 20 beta master...

And it feels so much different than SFIV.
I need practice, a lot.

Can they parry the next hit if they anticipate it or does the timing of your attack prevent that option?

shit, I never thought about that. I'm not sure if he can parry again if he's already fully recovering from one. I don't stack the boom and my follow-up usually. no one has parried both. then again, going for that parry isn't smart in that situation so they might not have the skill. worst case, I would just throw.

I feel like the folks with bad netcode experiences probably probably haven't wired themselves.

it seems like you've been really fortunate with connections. it's kind of obnoxious that you're so skeptical of people with good connections encountering bad matches, though. like especially since it's a beta, matchmaking is going to have issues. I'm honestly thinking you your standards might be low because of how dismissive you are of people claiming poor connections. my internet is baller but I've had plenty of shit matches (as well as great ones). and yes, I have it wired =)

edit: it's not a matter of the netcode itself being shit, but the matchmaking--that seems to be where the variance is. when it's good it's fucking good, but there are times when you know right as it loads in that you're in for a shitshow.

I was just wondering if there are attacks that are too rapid to be parried. I pretty much only use parries on Cammies as an opening move. Walk back a bit, throw a fireball, they can't resist doing the spin punch thing, parry, free DP.

I should experiment more but I'm too set on playing my best even though it's a beta and nothin matters.

Nah, I'm wired and I've had bad experiences. This morning it paired me with someone from Brazil, and it was ... less than stellar. It was Birdie vs Birdie, animations were disappearing left and right, so it just became an awkward slugfest.

Yup. I've had way more good than bad, but the bad ones are BAAAAAAAD. Also wired here.

Damn, I forgot today's the last day.

Now the question is do I go home during lunch to get as many games as possible in or take a nap at work because I'm already super tired?
I'm playing right now and I'm not getting a ton of matches but who knows if that actually reflects a lower player base or just random chance.

I'm not saying I haven't had bad experiences. I've had slideshows. But if you're saying 50%+ are bad, then it's probably you.

My standards have always been very high for netcode - I own Skullgirls, remember? ;-)

I'm probably going with nap, then. Falling asleep at work over here anyway.

I was probably getting a steady stream of matches because it was two hours or so before the downtime yesterday afternoon.

New build impressions are not good...lot of changes being made that seem to be received negatively so far. Safer on block normal and faster walk speed are what I keep seeing frequently across the forums.

Weren't there tons of people calling SFV slow precisely because of the slow walk speeds?

Man, Bison. To me, he finally feels like the intimidating and evil presence he was as last seen in Super Turbo. Classic Bison. The asshole boss that you hated back in the day trying to beat the game on 8 star difficulty. That guy.

The game is ok but some of the beta participants (all of them are from Europe yea) are master-degree idiots.
They are using wi-fi purposely and make the game unplayable. I know that, they know that but they still go on to play for winning. And of course they win because I don't care my stats. But still I wanna massacre them -__-

Faster walk speed sounds great to me. Safer normals would depend on whose normals and which ones.

But really don't care much what people say about various changes when the game is so far from release and they're constantly tinkering with things. I'm already sold and have faith in the direction of the game from what I've played and seen.

Word. Beta sold me without a doubt. I mean, I was always going to buy it, it's SF, but this has been incredible to me. A return to form imo.

Just beat them, dude. Don't complain about how they win if you aren't trying.

People that have played the newest build or just people on forums who heard of the changes? Big difference.

Exactly. People are going to pretend to know what's best for a game they've played an early build of for a few hours, and people are going to complain about everything. The game is going to have plenty of changes by the time it releases, and Capcom is going to make it even better. "But Bison didn't need to be nerfed!" ...can't wait!

Not much luck with Bison today, lots of losses, but it's cool. Experience is key. Plus the Dual Shock still hampers my charges in the heat of battle for sure. Sometimes it looks like I am just spazzing out and jumping backwards away for no damn reason.

I don't want Bison to have a faster walk speed. It would be a nerf, IMHO.

Also, its amazing how many people still chuck fireballs at Bison full-screen and get hit when I absorb and shoot 'em back.
They just aren't used to it yet. Give it a month after release and it'll rarely happen. Bison shouldn't even throw the fireball back most of the time.

Edit:
Also, if you are new to Bison, I made a beginner's combo compilation for him:

It's tough. Last day of the SF beta until the next round but I really don't want to have MGS spoiled for me and the longer I wait and the more people that finish the game, the harder that will be.

Metal Gear. This is only the first beta and nobody can spoil SF. I choose to play MG at the moment.

I will play SF5 for many years to come, but MG is not that kind of game.

I've played Bison probably 6 or 7 times throughout all phases of the beta so every time I face him I fall for that, as well as jumping in on his wakeup when he has full meter, and I get owned by his CA.

Every single time.

Totally right on that, I tried on peeps who knew better and ate some real damage when they hopped over it towards me.

His CA being mid-air is amazing. Just purposely jumped into a Cammy to bait her. CA right before landing on her hit.

I've got to level 12 or so with Charlie, Bison, Ryu, and Cammy.

On the one hand, the lenient inputs bother me just because of personal preference. On the other hand, it's awesome to be able to put a few minutes into training mode, and learn a characters just with solid fundamentals and general knowledge.

Playing Bison was weird at first because I didn't realize he couldn't special cancel so many of his normals. So I was trying to do c.mk into scissors and it wasn't working, so I thought it was me. Then I realized I hadn't seen anybody do it, it was always c.mp. Then I just got the timing for his s.mp, c.mp link down and was able to do well with him online.

I'm a solid player, but in SF4, I don't do well. The game has never truly clicked with me. I hate a lot about it, and online I've never broken 1800pp/bp. I lose to stuff I probably shouldn't, and just in general don't have fun. Playing SF5 has been the opposite. Everything felt right from the getgo. Jump arcs felt natural to me, movement felt good, the way normals and blockstrings work...just felt right.

I cannot wait for this game. I think it's going to be something special. Even if it isn't, I know it'll be something special for me from the time I've had in the beta.

Incredible. It's like we share the same mind. Except I dunno if I would call myself solid--at least in comparison to GAF peeps I have played and seen play.

I dunno. Game has blatant issues now that I hope get ironed out. Vtrigger activation is pretty dumb right now. Wait for fireball/jump, activate vtrigger, punish is really really stupid.

That doesn't sound stupid to me. My instinct would be not to jump when Ryu has Vtrig, which then strengthens his fireball game as a result, something that is pretty weak when he doesn't have vtrig activated. I like it.

It's not like he can cancel his fireball animation with vtrigger. In this instance, you were going to get uppered anyway, this just gives him an electric punish.

Anyone have tips for the Birdie vs. Ryu matchup? I feel like he zones me out way too easily, and aside from HCB+K (which is punishable on reaction) there's not much o can do to get around it.

they are using slow speed wi-fi and it makes the char. teleports. I can not see my char or his/her. They can not beat me in a normal match so I don't care to lost but still it makes me angry to see win-maniac players. I really wanna send them message from PS4 but not allowed

Wonder when PC beta drops.

You know they're using wifi how, exactly?
