Suikoden II |OT| The Affordable 108

Where exactly are you in the story? You should check Muse and try the bar at the inn regardless.

I finished the White Deer quest, went on to finish the "Highway" quest (you know, the dragon), and Jowy and Nanami left my party. Now when I try to enter Muse with my letter from Alex the game crashes.

I am playing the German PAL version.

Never actually played this game before, but my brother had it when I was younger.

How does it run on the Vita?

And do I have to play the first one before this?

It runs great on Vita.

You should to appreciate the callbacks and returning characters, but you don't have to

It's a psone game so you need to buy it only once and it works on psp/vita and ps3. Saves are compatible but you would need to manually move the files using a usb hooked up to a ps3 to do it. So it's not practical for everyday use

So, in the first big battle (war), the one that is a tutorial and you are supposed to lose, the game said that Hanna was forced to retreat or something like that when the unit she was in (that was controlled by the AI) was beat by the enemy forces. Does that mean she is dead for good? I can't remember.

That's a list of all the war units and what each say when they die or are wounded.

alright, thanks for the info :)

Regarding Gilbert...

Gilbert was defeated in the battle of Muse but his dialogue was something like "fall back!" and there's no announcement... Did he survive?

4 hours into S2. The villain...

Is downright impressive. I think they realized the Emp and Windy from the first game came across as kinda wimpy so they went hardcore with Luca. He's burned down two villages already! And killed a dog!

He will pay.

Yeah, one of the best villains in rpgs / video games, imo. :)

On my way to my favorite part in the whole series, the Greenhills mission. A great setting and fun scenes. This should have been an indication that I would love the Persona games.

Ahhh, Luca. Be sure to search for his back story, after you finish the game. It makes him an even better villain, imo.

Now that you say it... It's not my favorite parts, but is one of my favorites. That may true for me too, hahaha.

The feels at the end of that storyline... Great setting indeed, though there are some occasions when you have to go back and forth. Also, I remember that I managed to miss a flag event by running too fast at one point. People, listen to my piece of advice: let the NPC exit the screen before you do.
This game has so many highlights... I'm this close to play it again on my PS2.

As for Luca, it truly is a shame that his backstory wasn't more developped within the game.

Heh, it's my least-favorite part of the game. I could do without ever seeing another high school simulation in an RPG. Can't believe even Dragon Quest did it in DQ9.

So, I have a PSP Go. I could play Suikoden I and II on there, couldn't I?

Yes, you can play on you Go.

Doesn't the Go work just like the regular psp? If so then part 2 does not work on psp at all right now, and who knows if it ever will.

Hi Everyone,

We at Konami are looking into the PSP removal issue for Suikoden II.
I will let you know if I get any additional information on the situation.

As always, we appreciate your patience and continued support.

Hopefully good news will come of this. Thanks for checking it out.

Shit, I think she said her death quote. Ugh, I can't believe this happened. It wasn't even my fault considering the stupid AI sent the unit to the middle of the fucking battle like a complete idiot. I am not doing that battle again now that I am so far ahead in the game. Oh well.

Ouch, you were extremelly unlucky. But yeah, the "free will/ leave it to Apple" AI on those battles are shit.

I had an unit die only a few times in dozens of gameplays, and every time it was my fault. :(

I didn't even choose the leave to Apple thing, it was literally the tutorial and I only had control over my unit. Sigh.

And
a woman acting like a pig...

"Die pig!"

yeah he should be OK as long as he switched sides in that battle

He's alive. That's his wounded quote, rather than his death quote.

Nice... Thanks guys. :D

Heh, it's my least-favorite part of the game. I could do without ever seeing another high school simulation in an RPG. Can't believe even Dragon Quest did it in DQ9.

I'd probably say my favorite part of the game is the Tinto and getting-your-castle parts.

Okay! Finally beat S1.

Is there any way to transfer the save withoht using a ps3 or am I boned?

What did you play it on? If you played it on a Vita then you can load up Suikoden II, get into the game options (hold down the vita button) and manage the save cards. You can copy your Suikoden I save onto the Suikoden II card and choose it when starting a new game. No PS3 needed.

RTTP right here. Playing on my Vita. I want to make sure I don't miss any of the 108 this time around. I am pretty sure I just beat the game without caring much back when it first came out.

Any good sites with 108 stars centric guide?

Kinda wish I didn't play through S1 again because now I am kinda burnt out on Suikoden in general. I guess I will wait a bit before resuming Suikoden 2. But I did get my clear save, so in the end I will probably be glad I did. Just teamed up with Borgan and the two entertainers.

I'm still playing Suikoden 1.

Is there an efficient way to find a location on the map without resorting to online guides? These non-playable characters in the game tell you to go to X but sometimes they never reveal where the location is relative to anything. Is this game trying to encourage me to mindlessly wander around the countryside?

Have you gotten the world map yet? Once you do, it becomes vastly easier to locate things.

The one exception is trying to find Luikan, where the game doesn't really help you.

I managed to download Suikoden 2 on my PSP shortly after it arrived on PSN. I am no longer given the option to download it again. It says "Not downloadable from a PSP system" in my download list. It sucks, I can't delete it without backing it up first.

Suikoden 2 does not work on a PSP. During the first day you could download the game to your PSP. Sony took that option away though unfortunately. Sony sucks on this, that is for sure.

Platforms should be changed in OP since it doesn't work on a PSP. Don't want people buying it on a PS3 but hoping to copy to a PSP. It doesn't work.

So happy to see people playing the game for the first time and joining in on the conversation.

Do you know whether continental European countries will get their localized versions? On the one hand, the German translation ist aweful (and switches to French and English now and then), but otherwise if the NTSC version has even more glitches... no thanks :(

I agree that the German translation was or still is awful, especially the part with Keley, I was like wtf, I do not speak French lol, now I understand French but not as a 12 year old back in the days.
The PAL version got some stuff fixed like the missing music and other things. But glitches still remained in the PAL version, NTSC is heavier on these though.Downside for the PAL release is also 50hz.
So NTSC would be the way to go.
