Wait so is this Arjuna show good or not?

Also really hate Penguin Squad Cadet. I can only use Penguins as an avatar now :(. What did I do to deserve this?
Penguins are a gift not a curse

It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but yes, you should watch it. It's really well produced and from the chief director of Macross Plus.

There was some especially fine background art, that's true. Pretty high budget for the time.

And the original creator of the Macross series and Escaflowne.

Arjuna is the most annoyingly and clumsily preachy show I've ever seen.

The integration of hand-drawn animation and CGI is ambitious on a level most anime can only dream of.

Most shows in that genre are pretty preachy though, it just comes with the territory. You gotta expect a show aimed at a certain audience to push something out, like kids shows trying to deliver a message. It's heart is in the right place.

In fact, it's hard to think of any other shows which are of pure as intent as Arjuna. You get the feeling that the director really wants to improve the world, even if it's just a tiny little piece of it. But hey, you have to start small and work your way up.

It's a good show about the essence of the human experience and insightful on the ways of laboring and institutions we've come to consume nonchalantly in society.

I cant tell if people are trolling or genuinely recommending these shows, my scale has been thrown off by watching ADV's trolldub of Ghost Stories

Trust no-one; make the judgement for yourself, and go and watch Earth Girl Arjuna.

They mad

Twin Angel 9 - This episode was good. It has humor, action, plot development, and more. Oh no, the villain twins have learned that Twin Angel are those three girls who look exactly like Twin Angel! It's so shocking, I mean they look so different... :p
Which causes the twins to be a bit unsure.. I mean, they liked the three girls, but they hate Twin Angel (for some explained, but probably misinformed, reasons)... so what do they do now? I mean, they blame Twin Angel for ruining their lives -- see, there was this fire that killed their parents or something, and they blame Twin Angel for it for some reason, but I highly doubt that they're actually guilty...

The main plot this episode is about the school festival. See, the school's special item is on display during the festival, so they have to protect it. The girls' class holds a maid cafe selling pudding. So yeah, maid uniforms this time. A robot goes berzerk and starts flipping girls' skirts, and Twin Angel stops it.
Conveniently, the thing that turns the girls into Twin Angel forgot to put panties on our heroine before this... of course. Fortunately for her Aoi defeats the robot before it can flip her skirt.

And all of that is just the first half of the episode... in the second half, the villains attack!
Clever plan, use the teacher to distract Twin Angel, while the twins go in to steal it... you know, Twin Angel really aren't very good at protecting these things. Sure they succeed sometimes, but they've failed at least as often, and there are only seven of the things... I wonder if the badguys are going to win in the end or something. Hopefully they stop him before he accomplishes whatever his nefarious plan is, somehow.

Anyway, Misty Night points out the diversion to the girls. The MC needs to have the word "diversion" defined for her. Ah, anime MCs.... :p So, it's our main two versus villain twin, who know their secret... and then Twin Angel discover the twins' identities too.
It's just like Sailor Moon, somehow looking exactly the same but in different clothes isn't enough to be able to identify someone, you need to have it more obviously revealed to be able to tell. Sigh.
And once again, they fail to protect the thing. Um, good job Twin Angel, how many more do the badguys need to get them all? They have a lot now...

And then, in the end, we get the first shred of an explanation of what villain guy wants the seven items for. We still don't know what he's going to do after getting all of them though.

In conclusion, Shining Star is the catchiest ED in an anime this season. Gah, it's a quite addictively cute song. Also, this episode was one of the best of the series, no question. If the rest of this show is as good as this one, the show could move up my rankings for shows this season...

It's pretty sad that most anime productions are just soulless enterprises in labour with the express purpose of cranking out some sub-par merchandise to sell to devoted otaku. You have to respect a work with more noble ambitions.

That's not quite true, a lot of animators are very devoted to their ideals. It's just that their ideals are mediocre otaku-bait anime for otaku such as themselves, as pointed out in that article about the American anime animator.

Why would you save someone from a truly memorable show?

When you see that people are this passionate about something, you know it has to be something remarkable.

We are only trying to save them from the easy and mindless path of consumerism towards harmful anime all too common in today's otaku subculture.

Only a week away from the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2011, and for those wanting to see the premiere of Hiroyuki Okiura's return with A Letter to Momo, the screening times from the recently released schedule can be seen in the festival's dedicated site for the film:

2011 Films - Letter to Momo
http://tiff.net/filmsandschedules/tiff/2011/lettertomomo

So I wanted to ask who here is interested in the movie and actually can go to/is going to see it any of those days. Please, tell me, as I'd prefer to see first-hand impressions from people of the community that I more or less know
(and appreciate their opinion)
. I hope I don't bother anyone asking for this...

That's always the danger of wearing an assholes face.
It didn't help that mine was a relatively ugly and generic looking fellow. Just didn't feel right man. My new avatar makes me feel classy!

Just reading the synopsis I think I might like this.

Seems like there's an environmentalist theme of sorts? As a vegetarian, who rides his bike to work and is annoyed by people who do not recycle, I might actually appreciate what this show is about.

Hopefully will get around to starting it up tonight.

It's sounds like there might be some synergy going on here. That's great.

Riding a bike? Sounds like Arjuna will be good for you. It will show you what being an environmentalist is really all about.

Of course is classy! But man... it is so sad that Mr. Dezaki had to go...

Yeah I've only really seen a few of his works, but they've all been quite enjoyable. At some point, I really want to watch the version of Moby Dick he directed as well.

edit

Woooow Emmanuel upstaging Geneijin.

I don't know if that face can ever have a correct aspect ratio.
It can, but TVs of sufficiently wide aspect ratio are not yet mainstream. Perhaps if we had access to an Ultra Panavision theater.
