I... never even thought of that.

Well in this episode they basically flat out told you by
constantly flashing 95 all into your face non-stop.
It's either one master red herring job by Ikuhara or he wants to make it as blatantly obvious as possible. I wouldn't completely rule out the former.

Although a pairing between Ringo and Shoma was inevitable, I would say just looking at that and acting like you knew everything that was going on in MPD would mean you're ignoring a vast amount of the content in this episode. To begin with, I didn't expect Ringo to so bluntly discover that her feelings for Tabuki aren't real. So although she's probably in love with Shoma, that's pretty meaningless. We don't know that he likes her that way at all, and the wrench has been thrown in their relationship even as friends with the revelation that Shoma and Kanba might be responsible for the death of Ringo's sister. There are still a myriad of different directions MPD could go in.

Even though people knew about the sarin gas attack connection, I wouldn't even say that was predictable. Did you personally pick up on that, or was it something you read on a board somewhere? Did you suspect that it related to the birth of Ringo, Shoma, and Kanba? Did you know that there is still an unaccounted for half of the diary? When you say there was nothing of any surprise in the episode were you expecting a mystically drugged Tabuki frog man to try and rape Ringo? This show is crazy. How can you predict something so insane?

Nobody expects a
drugged up Tabuki frog rapist. I love Yuri-san so much right now, for how little she seemed to be bothered by Tabuki in frog rapist mode. Her bag (that looks like a penguin) probably means she's the one that stole the diary, but the "why" is so much more interesting to me than the who at this point.

I can't believe no one has gif'd Shouma getting
his ass kicked by Ringo

I'm trying to figure out what the Takakura parents could have done to
ostracize the entire family. Were they behind the attacks? They don't seem the type. Ringo's mother did know the name Takakura though. There is something weird and sinister going on behind the scenes, and we just don't know what it is yet. Knowing Ikuhara, the gas attack is only the tip of the iceberg, and there is some vast conspiracy going

Kamisama Dolls 12

I've said it before, but I like how no one really gives a shit if everyone sees giant mechanical laser-shooting dolls fighting in public.

And damn, lots of tension this episode. Seriously thought
Magatsuhi would kill someone (still might).

People were pointing it out months ago, but it doesn't make it poor. Being obvious (which I don't think is the case given some of the reactions here) isn't a huge flaw.

Unfortunately
some of us (i.e. me) were incredibly ignorant about international news from the 90s, even domestic terrorism
, so I hope they'll still go into more detail about it later on.

That number has been on the title card of the show since episode 1!

Right. They just went out of their way to make it super blatantly ridiculously obvious this episode. There's been plenty of clues throughout.

That's probably because they like, you know, are actually about to tell you what's up.

That or the show has been blatantly lying throughout to throw people off. If this is the case I will be quite impressed.

Who knows more about love? Sawako or Ringo?

That was my reaction to the first episode as well, but I encourage you to keep going. The episodic stories come together into a glorious, well-developed whole by the end.
It really does weave together quite spectacularly.

I'm still completely ignorant to what the 95 designated.

That's only OK if there are at the same time clues in the proper direction. As a lover of mystery novels, I'm more impressed by a plot twist which it was possible to figure out if you paid enough attention than by a twist which was never hinted at and completely impossible to guess.

Yeah but what if you DID?

I didn't because what the hell is going on!

Hi guys

I'm kind of new to anime, but I'm having second thoughts as to whether or not I'll find anything I can really just sit down an enjoy coming out of Japan (and appearing on Crunchyroll, which is really my only source for this stuff outside of whatever my girlfriend buys). She got me to it with Slayers and Dragon Ball Z Kai, and we recently finished FMA: Brotherhood, which I enjoyed.

I decided to go to Crunchyroll to try to find some stuff on my own. I was mostly looking for lighthearted stuff, comedy, drama that turns out well in the end (more 'Rocky' and less 'In Bruges'). I was able to handle the stuff we watched in Claymore, but mostly, I want to wind down, have a good laugh, a little tension but not be crushed like Code Geass (which I recently quit watching because of
Shirley
) or Usagi Drop (because we discovered manga's fucking horrible ending).

See, I liked Brotherhood because it had some humour to it, a little bit of warmth, and the good guys win. That's essentially what I want to watch. Good people, and good things. My life is already stressful, and I deal with enough garbage, so I really don't want any to sneak up on me in shows (I went into Geass blind, but initially though hey! This guy's always winning, there's rollerblading mechs, and there's the funny school side to it, cool!) .

Anyone have recommendations? I also enjoyed the recent Idolmaster #8 episode because it was outrageously silly. Sorry if this isn't the right spot for this kind of question but I'm not really a part of any anime communities.

Shoma Ringo Shoma will be legal in 2 years!
16 is legal in most US states.

What prefecture does he live in? What's the age of consent there? :P

Not sure if this is a joke, but Japan doesn't separate laws by prefecture. The age of consent, is I'm sure, the same everywhere.

I'm an expert on Japanese consent law and I can tell you that is blatantly incorrect. The national age of consent is 13 but prefectures have ordinances set up where ages range from 13 to 18

Ok, yeah I don't want to know.

If Crunchyroll had Death Note, I'd suggest you to watch episode 7, it doesn't get better than that in regard to light-hearted fun / feel good moments.
But they don't have it, so I'm gonna say, watch Skip Beat!, it's fun.

Oh, they also have Time of Eve, you could watch that too!

Never fear, recommendation questions are welcome here! Restricting myself solely to what's available on Crunchyroll, Gintama and Sket Dance should be right up your alley. They're both well-done comedies with some heartfelt and uplifting drama mixed in. You may also want to check out Durarara (the interweaving stories of a fun cast of characters living in the Ikebukuro ward of Tokyo), My Ordinary Life (off-the-wall comedy with excellent animation), and Time of Eve (about a world where humans and androids uneasily coexist and a cafe which seeks to bring them together).

So a feel good anime where the good guys win. Hmmm. I haven't finished it, but Tiger & Bunny seems like a good choice. If you can handle some very... overt fan-service, I'd also say Dororon Enma-kun Meramera from last season. Sket Dance is good (though the most recent episode might not be what you're looking for).

I assume you're open to shounen since you watched DBZ Kai and the good guys generally win in that genre, so I'll say Toriko and maybe check out this thread I made.

It's a big medium, so I can only really think of recent stuff outside of Shounen. I'm sure other people will have good non-action suggestions.

Well looking at CR's 'recent' page you have Blue Exorcist and Sacred Seven, which certainly fits that 'good people win' criteria. (Unless Blue Exorcist flipped out and is heading for some 'everyone dies' end, I dunno.) And Star Driver as well.

ToraDora, Usagi Drop, A Channel, KON are all light hearted.
Eureka Seven is more serious, but romantic.
Steins;Gate is a suspense you might enjoy.
