I think I need to be clear. If you are a "real" Blood fan, you should consider fan-suicide right now. Blood-C is a series for anime fans and CLAMP fans, it disregards anything from Blood previously in terms of tone or character.

Blood-C is about Saya meditating in the morning, then singing her way to school, doing silly shit at school, playing basketball after school, then walking home, hugging her father, then getting a sword to fight an ancient demon at night, before hugging her father again. IT IS GOOD SHIT! :D

There had to be some catch....

Do "real" Blood fans even exist? I'm not sure what they would be a fan of? The original movie? The live action remake? It certainly can't be Blood+.

That's not a catch, that's a plus-plus in every way.

Same here but someone had to get the shaft (real Blood Fans) though that may change as it goes on.

I would say the original movie though Blood+ had one of the greatest troll scene imo.

I don't think they exist, but I felt the need to mention it just in case.

Considering the differences in the approach between BLOOD: The Last Vampire (novel and animated film) and BLOOD+ (I'm oblivious to the spin-off and other related material of this one), what would you say its something aimed at a "real" BLOOD fan?

Well, duckroll, I see you have partially answered this, nevermind.

Blood-C Episode 1

[X] Great transition of CLAMP art to animation designs
[X] Kickass music with great long themes
[X] Funny humor, cute expressions, moe characters
[X] Clumsy cute twintailed Saya with glasses
[X] Moribito quality action with excellent choreography and animation

A+
I see....hype!

I think that at the core, Blood is a more serious work which strives to explore what it is like being an immortal half-vampire girl whose destiny is to fight her own kind to protect society over the ages. Always working behind the scenes with government agencies, not fully trusted by humans because she is different, walking a lonesome path of duty.

Blood the Last Vampire, Blood+, and even the live action Blood movie, as well as all the spinoffs sort of have this central theme. She does not have a normal life or a family, and she is seen as a tool by humanity, and a traitor by vampires.

Blood-C is completely different. She has a father, she lives in a shrine in modern day Japan, she goes to a school and she has friends, she lives a positive life, and she also carries a secret duty to slay evil. Sure, the tone might change as the series continues, but in generally it's a HUGE change in tone and context for a Blood series, but for the better imo.

New to me. CLAMP being CLAMP.

Still completely repulsed by the character designs.

Nah, meganekko Saya is HNNNNNNNNNNGG.

Can we please stop talking about K-On, even I get burned out having to continuously point out how awful it is.

Even the Monocle Brigade is being converted at this point. Your Haters Circle will soon be very lonely.

It might be an early showing before the season starts.

I think I remember Working doing something like that. The first episode was out a few weeks before the season started.

But vampire anime are supposed to be bad! This is madness.

So this, Blade or Hellsing Ultimate?

Yeah it's an early webcast. I think it'll actually air on tv next Thursday?

This is the first I've seen of this and I'm getting HSOTD vibes with the tit physics and pantsu short during the fight. I will do myself a favour and ignore it prematurely!
I don't understand. You're getting vibes of HSotD's best feature and your reaction is to ignore it!?

Denpa Onna 11,12

The non-ending was expected, as I said earlier, but I thought the climax of this particular arc (or is it? I wonder what episode 13 is gonna cover) was pretty good.
Also some hints that there's more to the initial premise than it seems, but we'll see
. Also, as usual, tons and tons of SPARKLES.

As for final thoughts: HNNNG: The Anime describes this show pretty well, though for me I really think it's because this style of humor fits me like a glove. Started very strong at the beginning, floundered toward the middle, picked up again at the end. Hard to say where they're going to go from here since there are more novels to cover, so if they get to it, they'll get to it.

Best show of Spring confirmed still!

Actually looks pretty good. Considerably more excited.

Don't get hyped off of OPs alone. That's like the numero uno rule of animu, dude.

This would be a cause for hype. But you listed clumsy, cute, and moe as positives...

My dream is a world in which every single cartoon, Japanese or otherwise, has quality direction, animation, characterization and appealing character designs.
But then there'd be no amusingly poorly made works, and that sounds dull.

Maybe he hates his dad less now?

Oh, I see! I thought you talked more about the handling of the story and not the general premise. I'll emphasize the tone differences between BLOOD: The Last Vampire and BLOOD+, though. BLOOD: The Last Vampire always strikes me as more oppressive show with a desensitized and fairly committed to her role Saya as a catalyst of the action, whereas in BLOOD+ focus on Saya shifting sentiments towards those around her and the "maturity" she achieves (making a lengthy series grants you the possibility of manipulating character development in a less contrived way, but its not always something everyone cashes in on) makes its a somber show in a different manner.

From winter or spring? Winter is slim pickens but Wandering Son came out during winter and still looks like it'll be the best show released all year. Madoka was alright too I guess.

Spring had more shows that are good but nothing that was really a standout:
Hanasaku Iroha
Tiger and Bunny
Steins;gate
Azael-san
Dororon Enma-kun
[C]

were all popular in last seasons thread.

From spring? I'd say Kaiji S2, Hanasaku Iroha, and Sket Dance are at the top. I really like Nichijou, but the general reaction is pretty divided. Out of the shows I haven't kept up on, Tiger and Bunny seems the best.

thanks, i'll try some of these. I think I remember being vaguely interested in [C] and tiger and bunny so i'll check those first!

If isn't wasn't so in your face with it, I wouldn't have found it so annoying!

I never completely ignore anything. Will always read plenty of impressions on the first few episodes even if it doesn't initially appeal to me.

The World God Only Knows II Episode 12

lol the uguu face on that one game character always made me lol, and now they make a whole episode revolving around her.

Must be difficult being in such a shadow.
I think being a failure as a father had a bigger impact than him being really good at making movies.

There's no way Aria 12 is the last one, right? There's gotta be another one coming, right? Right? That wasn't a last episode ending vibe at all.

The novels continue for a long time after the series end point. I would love to have another Bad
ass
Aria anime but so far DVD/Blu-ray sales haven't been good so oh well. I might start reading the novels.

There's so so so so much more.

There needs to be a season 2 so JC Staff can do this disaster justice.

Yes, er, I still have no idea what this show is going to be about. Good. It's like the anti-trailer.
For me it really spikes the interest in the show, makes you want to check it out to see what this nonsense is about. It seems effective! I find it more clever compared to the recent, and habitual now, trend of showing too much in trailers.

I know it's a rather clichéd expression but, especially when it comes to trailers, less is more.

So, you don't like CLAMP character designs in general, those from this series specifically, only Saya's character design, or the designs' adaptation for the animation.

Izayoi said:

Her design is fine for the most part, it's cute and full of glasses-moe.

I just don't like her hair.

Something seems off about it, for me, even when taking the usual CLAMP into account. I think that it has more to do with the animation in that OP than anything though.

Dresden said:

High five.

I could never get into Blood+ due to their Saya design. I mean, there were probably other things too but that one stood out the most. I'm not completely sold on Blood-C yet but, hey, why not.

Yea, I know it's a book series, but that's got nothing to do with that crappy ending. Everything was fine until the last scene. They could have come up with a better way to send us off. That's the same ending we got every episode.

Highfive!

Saya's design was the least of Blood+'s issues, in my book. It was just way too long, with a cast that it was almost impossible to care for. Hell, I couldn't even care enough to hate them.

Denpa 12: Pretty good finale. Full circle ftw.

Funny you guys were talking about second seasons of Denpa Onna and Hidan no Aria, since they're basically being held hostage contingent on strong enough DVD/BD sales:

In a series of Twitter posts, Aria the Scarlet Ammo author Chūgaku Akamatsu reported that more Blu-ray Discs and DVDs need to be sold for a second season to be realized. To that end, he encouraged fans to buy more, or another season cannot be made. The first home volume for the anime went on sale last week, and it sold 4,007 Blu-ray Discs and 2,349 DVDs.

By contrast, Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko series director Yukihiro Miyamoto reported that his anime series only needs a little more support for a second season. The first home video volume sold 5,267 Blu-ray Discs and 1,361 DVDs during its first week of sales last week.
