Bunny Drop - 01

Wow, what a nice show. Its very well animated and I love the art. Reminds me of Hachikuro and/or Nodame. The story is very well done and they toed a fine line between treating it as a joke and being overly preachy about it. This has a more mature Aishiteruze Baby vibe and I have a feeling its gonna be my best show of the season.

I am eager to watch this one. I loved Hachikuro (the source of my avatar) and was disappointed they never animated the rest of the manga.

Do you mean AishiBaby? Hachikuro was completely animated, and very faithfully at that...

Yeah, this is true. It also happens with FLCL, which people just write off as "lol wacky nonsense" when it really just has extremely clever writing.

FLCL requires so much concentration from me, I could only watch one episode at a time...though I think it needed more.

See, I loved FLCL, but only because it was so short. If it had 27 episodes, like TTGL, I probably couldn't stand it either.

If you ever find the time to rewatch it I recommend watching it with director's commentary. It's very informative.

People on the internet like to simplify things rather than dig deeper.

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor 17-19

Episode 17:
vlcsnap2011070712h37m36.jpg

Yet another curveball thrown at the audience regarding Tylor's personality. Here he is, brainwashed and still manages to provide a critical insight that only a few Raalgan have picked up on! Is he really an idiot? Is he really just a lucky guy? Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your view of how long this arc should go), this is not pick up on by Azalyn and the only other people there already know it (damn you Wang for manipulating our precious Azalyn!).

This episode also marks a key turning point for the crew, where they basically "Tylor" themselves out of a very stick situation during their escape (it involves a machine gun and some rather stupid officers but hey....). We now really get to see glimpses on what this show is trying to achieve and that Tylor is actually starting to have a positive effect on his crew!

Episode 18: Another mix of drama and comedy, we see some development in Yamamoto as well. He effectively pulls a Tylor to save his crew! Not only that, but the entire rescue operation is a complete Tylor move. Go up against a super battleship with only a simple Destroyer? Eh, we'll make it up as we go along!

vlcsnap2011070712h46m09.jpg

It's nice to see the unpredictability of the show return in this episode as well. How the entire rescue operations resolves itself is something few people will be able to predict (I mean, it involves a failed assassination attempt for pete's sake). We also now start a major dramatic mini-arc as Tylor isn't doing so hot!

Episode 19: This is a very important episode because I think it marks the first steps towards Yuriko finally becoming a likable character. In all honesty, she has always been the annoying croon of the ship and hasn't done a lot to warrant any love from the audience, except in her roles as a foil to Tylor's antics. That she herself volunteers to rescue him is surely the first sign that she really cares about him as more than just a Captain!

Another interesting thing about this episode is that we finally get a sneak peak into Tylor's mind! I know I'm not the only one who wondered what goes on inside that brain of his, to be able to remain cool in insane situations. The "multiple Tylor syndrome" we see in there is a mix of what he puts out and what he either holds in or is programmed with through the brainwashing. There are signs of genius in there, of cynicism, etc. Which ones are real? The series trolls us a bit as we never truly find out (maybe the series is asking us to draw our own conclusions!). In what is surely a sign of things to come between Yuriko and Tylor, Yuriko ends up being the key to rescuing Tylor (as Azalyn eventually becomes part of the problem)!

Man, the first episode of iM@S, in the grand tradition of Xenoglossia, was kind of troll-y.

That Pyjama Party thing on NicoNico topped out just shy of 130k viewers by the end, if anyone was curious.

-edit- Actually, the numbers are still going up, just it's just broke 131k...

Went out of my way to watch Usagi Drop. Visually looks like a cross between House of 5 Leaves and Wandering Son.

Maaya Sakamoto's supposed to be in this so I hope she shows up soon!

I missed the show itself, but caught the Pyjamas :/ Almost got up to 140k at the very end.

For Unknown Soldier: The lady on the left is Haruka.

Gintama 6

Moe Moe Intersection? Such progressive aliens.

If I were a father, I'm not sure I'd be happy about a song titled "Your Father is a Bleep-Bleep" being dedicated to me.

Heartwarming episode none the less. So far this show has struck an amazingly good balance between absurdity and seriousness. Even when the characters are doing something silly in the background of a serious scene, it doesn't ruin the moment.

No, I mean Honey and Clover, there's at least two volumes beyond where the anime ends.

The anime and manga both end with exactly the same scene -
Takemoto biting into the honey and clover sandwich and crying.
. Don't they? I've just rewatched the end of the show and reread the end of the manga (chapter 64) and they're the same...

Forgive the possibly patronising question but you DID watch the second season of Honey and Clover, right? The one that starts with the episode about Takemoto's driving test?

Nice to hear what appear to be positive impressions for Usagi Drop and IM@S. Penguin Drum has also aired by now correct?

A lot of idols don't have any supporters yet, so sign up for an idol who hasn't got anyone on their teams, so they won't be lonely!

Usagi Drop 1: The art style was different, but that kind of faded away as the episode progressed and as a set up, it's certainly out there. Seems like a noitaminA win so far.

In which case, No 6 will be the Fractale/C of the block, surely.

I have to see the first episode first, I know nothing about any of them!

At least one of those descriptors is based on characterization not present in the original games and is therefore inappropriate for the currently airing anime. If these were teams for Xenoglossia I would let it slide, but they aren't.

The first episode of IM@S was more artsy/classy than you would expect; kinda felt like a movie at times.
That sounds good/weird, I'm sure people weren't expecting that.

Bunny Drop 01
That was a nice heartwarming little episode. Strange that the art style started out looking much more water color at the beginning and then changed to a more normal one.

Weird, the manga was still going as the second season was airing. I don't bother with manga so I assumed there was way more missing from the show.

I only watched the raw of IDOLM@STER but HOLY SHIT this show is everything i didn't expect and more!

The hype has paid off~

I think "really over the top and ridiculous" is not enough to describe things like
throwing fucking galaxies
at each other. I'd say it's pretty brainless.
Anti-Spiral's confined inter-dimensional space. You can still say that it is ridiculous (and it is true), but at least this matter is explained within some limits (inside those incredible parameters the show demonstrates, though)

Usagi Drop 1

I really like the music and art, but I'm not sure if this is for me. Will watch a few more episodes to decide. I did like the ending. One thing's for sure, I'm definitely more interested in this than Wandering Son.

Usagi Drop ep1

Well produced noitaminA show. Backgrounds and character art didn't really mesh that well at first, but it either got better or I got used to it. It's a decent introduction to a premise which I don't really care for. The little girl is pretty cute, and I really like the way facial expressions are handled in the show, but I don't think that's enough to keep me interested. Might not continue watching this, but it's not a bad show.

Idolmaster ep1

There's no reason for me to like this show. It is based on a creepy otaku-centric Idol raising simulation game series which I care nothing for. It's filled with stereotypical teenage idol singer characters which are pretty mass market offensive. There are no robots in it. There's no action. It's probably a boring moeblob pandering series which is forgettable and pointless.

So... let's pretend that it was indeed a boring moeblob pandering series which is forgettable and pointless, and pretend that I didn't somehow watch ep1 and think that it is an exceptionally directed and very interesting series with great production values, innovative framing, great pacing, and appealing characters. Yeah, let's go with that. Show probably sucks, so I probably didn't watch it. Yeah!

The mockumentary approach to IM@S is pretty damn great, but I'm not caring at all for what I've seen so far. I'll wait for the subs to form a legitimate impression, but it's seeming like amazingly-produced, completely pandering, tripe--about what I thought it would be.

Funnily enough, that mockumentary approach that I like so much only allows them to pander harder.

Usagi drop 1 - Pretty good, seems like this will be my character-driven drama fix for the season.. don't really have much to say about it, but i will probably stick with this till the end.

Yeah but the manga still ended before the anime did.

Nothing more is needed, really! Lovely entertainment in a entertainment business, and nothing more...
