It's coming, but I don't know if it'll come soon enough. This is a pretty traditional CLAMP setup and narrative technique, so there will definitely be a wham episode. The question is when.

I'm basically putting the series on hold until everybody dies or something like that :/

When you least expect it?

Mawaru Penguin Drum 4

My vision was once clouded with doubt, but Ikuharai has banished this gloom.

All we are missing now is some more creepy brother-sister incest and shirtless dudes and this show will be perfect.

Sket Dance 17 - Bit of a more serious episode. Once again, they handle it pretty well, I think.

Roman was totally robbed, though.

Usagi Drop 4 - Felt this episode was a bit of an improvement, dealing a little with the circumstances of Rin's birth more than just Daikichi's adjusting to being a parent. Rin's still adorable, by the way. That little girl doesn't know what she's talking about.

So Aniplex USA is bringing Oreimo to a DVD boxset. I wonder how expensive it will be. I don't mind getting it though I was hoping for a blu-ray version.
Basically my thoughts as well.

Funimation finally admitted after years of having dubbed them, they have the Yu Yu Hakusho OVAs, and have the non-Poltergeist Report movie.

They also confirmed that their upcomming DBZ sets will be 4:3.

Usagi Drop 4
Another great episode. Very good adaptation so far.
Couldn't stop smiling the entire time.

But what's a penguin drum? 4
Ahahahahah! Fabulous! :D

Mayo Chiki 4
Nyan Nyan Nyaaaaan :D
Kuuumaaaa :D

Mawaru Penguindrum

Penguins seemed pervier this episode than usual. The amount of sheer FAIL concentrated in Ringo's person is hilarious. The ending was super creepy.

Sacred Seven 04

Slower episode this time around, but there were enough decent gags to make it enjoyable. I'm nostalgic for bendy straws now.

Mayo Chiki 04

Fun. Pure fun. The show is so self aware and clever for what it is - it's a joy. And Kanade continues to be awesome - such a nice, manipulative, caring and sadistic bitch.

People who call this aimless have ADD. Also, FABULOUS MAX.
Oh boy... Yes. Absolutely. God, this show is so incredibly insane and awesome. I know I won't like the ending. I know it won't and can't end well. It's a train wreck bound to happen, in super slow motion. But it's just so good.

If only she was the main heroine. I enjoy seeing her more then the butler girl.

Me too, but I think the character mostly works because she isn't the main heroine. She's obviously incredibly important to the story, probably the most important character in the show, but she's also a bit of a deus ex machine figure.

Ga Rei Zero 4

This is like the opposite of Blood-C. The wham episode already happened and now it's in a formulaic mundane school flashback phase. Not bad though since things are actually progressing.

Also, Michael's weapons are awesome.

Bunny Drop 4

It's true this episode isn't quite as well directed as the previous ones, but the characters and writing are so sharp it doesn't really matter. It really is hard to believe someone could abandon Rin.

Mayo Chiki! 4 - HNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Show is so much fun. From Subaru letting out her cute side
or sniffing Kinjirou's laundry
to Kureha wrestling bears and crushing on Subaru to Kanade messing with all of them. It's so good.

BakaTest Ni 4: So this is just the "troll Yoshii" show, except it has none of the charm of say, Nichijou and Yuko's constant suffering. I wonder why they changed the direction of the show so drastically... unless, basically, all the fan demand is for more crossdressing.

What's the point of having dedicated animu threads if everyone is just gonna discuss them in here?
There's no point if most of the people watching the show are AnimeGAF regulars anyway. I always understood the point of dedicated anime threads to be a place for discussion of the show that people who don't want to wade through the craziness of the general Anime Thread can participate in too. That's the difference between successful threads like OreImo and Panty and Stocking and apparent failures like The Idolm@ster.

I'll do my best to keep it alive once I watch the newest episode, though!

We had this discussion many pages ago in this very thread.

I would resurrect the IM@S thread if I had a place to host my GIFs at the moment.

The Idolmaster thread was surprisingly popular for the first week then just took a complete nosedive.

In other news, I just saw some screens from the Higurashi Kira OVA. And all I have to say is: what.

I suppose banning tits and suggestive fanart really killed the thread.

That is pretty much all I expected or wanted out of the show. Are you upset there aren't moe versions of the characters having pointless battles anymore?

In other news, I will begrudgingly admit that IM@S 4 was a pretty good episode in an otherwise dull series. It certainly shows that the series has some shred of promise though.

What really killed the thread was the overall average-ness of the 2nd and 3rd episodes. The 4th episode was much better and the 5th episode is the beach episode, so there's hope for resurrection!

Sounds more like another knell.

What you're implying is that people actually talked about the show in the IM@S thread.

This is actually the main problem with the spinoff threads, people still talk about the show in the main thread. This problem isn't limited only to the IM@S thread.

I guess I don't really know what I want from the show... it's just a strange direction to go in after the last season arc which dealt with the caste system.

The thread would probably be way more hilarious and awesome if they let people post delicious fanart.

What usually happens though is that like somebody else said the spin off threads kind of die because well there is discussion of the anime in this thread so then going to the other spin off ones seem to be pointless at times, imo anyways.

I get what you mean, and there is definitely different levels of ambition with the overarching plot, but at the end of the day it's just a comedy. I'm actually somewhat relieved the series is moving in a different direction because like most second seasons of anime it is largely reaching into the same bag of tricks. At least with a new direction there's at least something that feels new. The Baka OVA pretty much stretched me to my limits on where the series was going with the first season.

Idolcookingmaster 4

This was considerably better than the previous 2 episodes. It helped that this episodes did not feature exceptionally annoying characters like the previous ones.

The Producer being a non-character continues to be the show's Achilles' Heel. This show really feels like a massive missed opportunity, in that the missteps of the writing seem fairly obvious. I'm also not sure why they feel the need to keep the backstories of all of the girls a mystery.

That's a part of it I feel, the overarching plot and the comedy that went along with it in the 1st season, made the season enjoyable overall, while so far Bakatest has been fun to watch, I get the sense that with the change in direction they're going to run out of ideas sooner rather than later.

Not that I'm asking for an exact replica of season 1 but do something like bring in a rival school perhaps.

Just as Bella is a non-character, The producer has to be a non-character. That's the point, and especially so in IM@S's case. They've got far too big a cast to spare any of the spotlight on someone who's, for all intents and purposes, nothing more than an audience insert.

I can't see how anybody thought this was going to be something more than it is.

It's another way for The Producer to mirror the audience.

He doesn't know any girls.

Luckily the show has more than one single thing holding it together.

This show continues to be unpredictably entertaining. Looks like things will get real in the next episode.
Or not, Ikuhara has the kind of corkscrew mind that enables him things to, as you say, unpredictably mix it up.

Then again, it would be weird not to do something different with the tone.

I should clarify that it's actually just one bear. Just in case your enthusiasm hinged on the presence of multiple bear opponents, wrestled either simultaneously or consecutively.
