Hanasaku Iroha Ep.18

More Nako centric episodes please! I always imagined her being a mother figure at home and I enjoyed those aspects of the episode. I thought there was a bit too much fanservice though.

Well at least one good gif came out of it then.

It's just a cloth wrapped around yourself a lot, right? I can't see how it would. Ignoring the back though, it looks horrible for the front, too. In fact, in Manyuu Hikenchou where they wear nothing but sarashis it seems, Chifusa gave someone a bra because she was complaining about sagging. So yea, gotta do that body right. >.>
The purpose of sarashi is to flatten the breasts, not to lift them like with bras, and that's exactly what they do, flatten. They do a okay job of flattening too, I think. But really, the two things have different purposes.

Quite true, but well, at least there are only three girls in his harem really, not as many as many shows have.

Once the childhood friend raised every death flag, I was hoping she'd be killed off and there'd be some tragedy romance arc of sleuthing and awkward guns. Now there will be boobs and misunderstandings.

...

Oh well.
Oh, I think you will be entertained anyway...

I'm willing to give everyone in the world the benefit of the doubt when it comes to that, the Wild West was a relatively short period in our country's history in a part of our country with no foreign trade with Europe or Asia(up until California) so most people's experience with the country would have been the more established States not Kansas and shit. Of course that mythos was probably more famous around that period, even as it is here in the States, just due to the alien and unique nature of it so I'm sure people abroad were also aware of the Wild West.
No, no, you entirely misunderstand me. What I was saying was that in Europe there indeed did grow up this image of Americans all being cowboys and such, even well after the Wild West ended in the late 1800s. Americans knew better though, of course; sure, there was and still is a mythology surrounding the West, but without the degree of misconceptions that I think existed in Europe. So, when she said that, it made sense to me because while she knew better, she knew that Huey and Dalian well might not... :)

But yeah, people were aware of the Wild West in the rest of the world. Still are, as you say.

Every "premise" in anime is wasted on harems.
Almost certainly true.

I suppose. Though if my definition of quality demanded actual artistic value then I certainly wouldn't be posting on a video game message board right now, because by that metric I've literally never played a good game in my life.
... I'd say that's going a bit overboard, I didn't mean quite THAT... just, in the case of anime, some actual redeeming value somewhere beyond just "it's stupid but funny", which stupid harem shows usually don't have.

As for games though, bah, gameplay is what matters most in games, as far as artistic value goes or anything else. I do care about other things like story too, and yeah game stories are almost always atrociously bad (and yes, this can bother me at times), but gameplay does matter the most and plenty of games have great gameplay.

Yeah, most likely. Maybe I was just thinking it would be slightly funnier if she just didn't care.
No, I'm pretty sure it's not like that.

Hated it that much? Wow.
Eh, sometimes I stop watching something midway, it's not like that's something really rare for me... but yeah, in that case it was because of that scene in specific.

Well, how big is a spotlight?
I don't know, the main characters I'd say, so I'd say the four major ones, in Mayo Chiki's case. But if you mean only the main two, yes, that'd be the guy and butler girl.

Ah, didn't know that. Still, it seems like all the more reason that a woman with a body like Min-san shouldn't be wearing a sarashi.

Getting caught up slowly. Starting with the best shows first.
Penguin Drum 04
This show continues to amaze me. This episode was firing on all cylinders with the comedy and penguin antics this episode. Ringo's daydreams are magical. Then
Murder most foul at the end?!
Can't wait for next week's episode.

Tiger & Bunny 17&18
17 was a nice little breather from 16's Grimdark episode though we did get to see a tearjerker moment
with Tomoe's death and the reason Tiger wants to continue being a hero.
This episode was really sweet at the end with Tiger's realization at the end. Of course things can never go easy for poor Kotetsu which brings us to the next episode.

I nearly HNNNGHH'd to death with Blue Rose deredere moment at the beginning. And
Kaede's trying to deal with her new powers was hilariously cute. Kriem's revelation really put a damper on everyone's mood. Then Bunny has a nervous breakdown at the end trying to deal with his messed up memories.
Shit is just going to keep getting worse from here on out for everyone. :(

Angel Beats 13 + OVA (Stairway to Heaven)

Well I finally saw the final episode and it was conclusive. I was in tears to see everyone go yet tears of joy since everyone essentially was fulfilled. The ending moment with the fateful revelation from Kanade was almost too much, poor Otonashi. Loved the series though, and apart from Eva, best short anime Ive seen. Great dub casting too, Naoi as the voice from Kaoru from OHSHC was a perfect fit, as well as the four other main cast, whom I didnt recognize from other series.

The tension in the OVA was so hilarious, Matsuhita the Fifth and his outbursts with history. It was just an hilarious epic mess that delivered on the characters.

[Kaiji S2 17]

Filling time, spinning wheels, breathing space, whatever you want to call it. Certainly a lack of movement in any direction, although it's good to see certain players represented.

Yes delicious blondes!
Should I ask where that is from? :lol
If saucenao is to be believed you don't want to know.

Penguin Drum 4

Could have done without the extended day dreaming scenes. The repeated "coming back to reality shouting" gag wasn't worth all that wasted time. Rest of it was still awesome though.

Kamimemo 4

Much better than the previous 2 episodes. A little too much comedy, but still had some nice serious moments toward the end. Not sure if it'll get back to the quality of that first episode now though.

For a second there I thought that was a giant ice cream.

Iroha 18
By far the best of the recent character episodes. The mermaid scenes were a great laugh.

I think that's wrong. :lol

Mad Bull 34 1

...I don't think that I can explain this in words or pictures. It's transcendental, like a spiritual experience. I can easily describe it as the second best thing I've seen this week, behind Penguin Drum.

It's a serious story about upholding the law and being an Agent of Justice in New York cities toughest district. An uplifting story about sin, hope, redemption and hookers.

Ninja Tits - 02

Hey, you remember that old lady in Dororon Enma-kun who keeps spinning her boobs around? Well now it's a ninja technique. ¬_¬

Blood - C - 04

This show really needs shit to hit the fan, it's becoming a chore to watch this, although I have to say the action scenes have improved to not a snorefest compared to the first 2 episodes.

I guess it's like chocolate - too much yuri and you could die!

3 girls is manageable, I suppose. Not really a harem at that point, honestly, as the last is typically just kind of ... there.

Oh, I think you will be entertained anyway...

I went into expecting all the right things from it (I mean, it's Bad Aria after all) but I didn't actually look up anything about it. The start of the episode caught me a little off-guard (wut, Just Cause - Kugiloli Edition?).

I suppose, right now, all that I have is a little disappointment that it doesn't seem like it goes dark or super serious. Honestly, the premise of the Butei Academy and the whole training super sleuth armed to kill mercenary detectives is kind of cool. Unfortunately, it seems they're trained to harem too but oh well.

Just kind of a fun little series to keep up with when I have time to kill, really.

I don't think that's the shows main problem, it's main problem is how mind bogglingly formulaic it is.

You guys might wanna fest it down a notch on the gifs.

I enjoy a yuri gif as much as the next guy but, y'know, better safe than sorry!

After the first 2 eps, it's a case of "Okay we get it", Saya is lusting at her father, the student president has no chance because Saya has main protagonist in a harem syndrome, moody loner guy is a moody loner and Saya gets covered in blood at some point, oh and can't be forgetting that she walks to school singing the exact same song.

The enemies started talking, whoop de frikken do.

If someone asked me why I'm still watching this, I'd just look at them with a perplexed look.

Has anyone announced a soundtrack release for Nichijou? That ending song for episode 17 was just sublime, not to mention the music used for the mute segment.

[Mad Bull 34 1]

Okay, there is one image that can help capture the complex mesh of philosophy, drama, history and culture that imbue this show:

Also, for those [Penguin Drum 4] viewers who weren't familiar with the show being referenced (and I guess that would be most of you) then here's some sweet imagery from that very work, Rose of Versailles. Those are some awesome stamps:

Also, I keep forgetting to talk about Ringo = apple, but then I realise it's because that says it all.

Yeah, there was an OST release a couple of weeks ago. If you're talking about the ED, I'm sure that will come.

somebody needs to make some gifs from Adolescence of Utena to really show them. Because I am quite sure someone was on drugs during the making of that wonderful movie.

Not from that scene of course...
Drug induced yuri gifs will save the internet, right?
And hey, Google Plus lets you share animated gifs... it's like they are asking for them!

Ugh. Those novel designs are bad, but it's no surprise they're using them.

Also . . . what are you guys doing with all the yuri? It's getting really hard to ignore now.

Diary speculah:

They make it clear that she is reading entries in the book rather than writing in it. The fact that she "signs" (or "family seals"?) each entry by saying "destiny" and her insistence on following the script kind of indicates that as well.
That's certainly how it seems. I would speculate further but I feel that coming to any kind of long thought out conclusion raises the risk of having the next episode dash my ideas against a rock by throwing some screw in the works.

I believe in episode three or four she specifically mentions
reading her diary as opposed to writing in it, ever, which would help to further cement your theory above. However that does raise some additional questions such as: who is writing it, and why does it conform towards her fantasies?
