Another anime-beach-episode done right. Poor Tooru! :D

A-Channel 6
Ahahahah! :D
I'm laughing way too hard at this show! And it has its sweet moments too. :D

This studio deserves to work a lot more.

Are you not-so-subtly implying that you are the traitor who has been posting things we say in this thread to the Internet?
Huh, there really is a NeoGAF tag there.

I guess I shouldn't really be surprised after the last two pages or so.

It has a happy ending...sort of...from a certain point of view!

Which episode are you on duder?

Utena 32

Everyone is more broken inside as the show moves. I am surprised how they can put such a tragic and twisted atmosphere maintaining the jokes and the "lighthearted" tone. So good.

Careful DrF, his head might explode from too much awesome in one day.

Last arc is best arc. Some really wonky animation in there but also some of my favorite episodes in all of animu.

38 and 39 are godly. Best ending. Even the animation is really fine!

That's good to hear, because the Black Rose arc really was a bit of a drag. It took a lot of steam out of the series for me.

That was painful to read. So much "holier than thou" sentiment in there

Such a grating way to write. It's one thing to write with a certain sense of authority, but to write as if you're the only apt authority is straight clownish.

If you want to know what it's like to be 40 years old and bitter and angry at everything in the world, I suggest reading Colony Drop!
One time these guys were on Anime News Network's podcast and spent an eternity getting mad about how much everyone else sucks. They didn't really have much to say about anything else, but they were pretty convinced that they were full of enlightening opinions and that everyone else was a terrible person.

But ANNcast is pretty much a series of soporific interviews so I guess it's inevitable that the interview would cast them in a poor light.

I still want to continue through Utena but I'm stalled in the Black Rose arc. I'm seriously thinking of just skipping the Black Rose arc entirely and resuming after it ends because I want to see how the show ends.

Time of Eve! It won't take but a small sitting, and it really is great.

Thanks. It is my turn for movie night so I am going to do my friends a favor and have them watch that instead of THIS, which is what someone else recommended

duckroll, your link directs me to Makoto Shinkai's panel (http://bayoab.info/live/live2.php?panel=32), but I suppose you wanted to post the one from MADHOUSE CCO Mr. Maruyama (http://bayoab.info/live/live2.php?panel=31), no? Sorry if I'm mistaken.

A good part of the people I've seen talking about this topic assumes that this clearly shows the (inevitable) turning point for the studio, and that Masao Maruyama, knowing the situation, maybe is trying to conceal what they have been doing until now in a new, independent refuge. Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV) has always been playing the safe route with their animation productions (that obviously doesn't goes well with a studio trying to cater to an eclectic mix of audiences), but I don't know what is going to happen now with MADHOUSE. What do you think?

I don't know how anyone could find the black rose arc to be a drag tbh, the atmosphere is intense.

But to be fair, i don't think i truly loved the "black rose" arc until i re-watched it eh.

You know you could always wiki the black rose arc if you want to skip it that much.. or hell you can wiki the show in it's entirely!

Gintama 89

lol, of course the cast of Gintama would be completely uncooperatve if the spirit of a sword offered to teach them an ultimate technique. Also, we learned Orihime from Bleach is a goddess and a slut.

Nichijou 18 - Might be the best episode yet. I laughed at every sketch for at least half the show, which hasn't happened in, I dunno, maybe since the show began! The last one dragged a bit, but I loved the end, even though I saw it coming as soon as he threw them out the window.

Shit Otaku Say was a site started by these guys:

That was worse than any anime blog I've ever seen. So I guess the answer to my question is it doesn't matter!

Black Rose arc is good if you just keep in mind it's an arc for the supporting cast, it's not as big a player in the main arc. Utena had such a great supporting cast that I enjoyed Black Rose saga quite a bit.

The first time they did the similar joke, it went on for so long and was so intricate that the punch line came out of nowhere and blew me away

Yuuko's reaction was really what sold it.

You do kind of have to be interested in the side characters for it to work, but I think the side characters enrich one's understanding of the main (student council members) characters so it works out anyway.

When I started looking at them as extensions of the mains, I was able to enjoy it a bit more. But even then, they were all so predictable in their troubles. It didn't really make for an exciting viewing.

The parts of the series that I don't care for are the Nanami comedy episodes which have no relevance to anything and are maybe barely funny.

Yeah, the Nanami eps are zzzz. I feel like there's a moral to the story with some of them, but then I also think that's just me stretching things that aren't there.

Miri, I'm sure you'd like episode 34, as it's the only overtly Anthy-centric episode in the whole show. But the last arc is more focused on the Utena/Akio/Anthy goings-on than the rest of the show, generally.

I've been on a break with the series, but my anticipation of those antics is what'll get me going again, no doubt. I cannot wait to see how this all comes together... or falls apart, whichever way you look at it. And an Anthy-centric ep sounds lovely. Everybody's been praising Nanami, but I have to be getting trolled with that one because I just don't see it. Anthy, next to maybe Akio, has been the best character in the show by far.

Tell them that plans have changed, consider yourself their savior, and force them to bring the vice of choice. You can't save people for free after all.

Utena 33 - Classy episode recap. Wait,
are they...? OH SHIT

Utena 34 - whaaaaaaaaat
So Anthy was (probably) a troll since the beginning? She's a greedy bastard who wants the prince for herself and that's why she's carrying the "Rose Bride Curse"? But If the prince wants to help Anthy with her curse, why is Akio trying to steal Utena from her? That "End of the World" thing has corrupted Akio? Who are the good guys and the bad guys here?.... A FAX MACHINE???

So much stuff happening in one episode, I need a rest WAAAAAAAGHHH

This is so intense.

Wakaba's episode at Black Rose arc is awesome and after episode 34
Anthy's weird attitude makes a lot of sense lol

Usagi Drop – 4

This show continues to be some of the most heart-warming tv I’ve watched in a while. This being the fourth episode I wonder if things are getting a tad formulaic, but the ending is obviously trying to say things won’t be happy forever. As it should be. The inevitable conflict of ‘Daikichi wanting to keep Rin because he loves but equally wants to reunite her with her mother because of how important a mother figure is’, is surely coming.

[Mawaru-Penguindrum]

(not much of a spoiler, is it? ah, well, let's err on the side of caution...)
Don't forget the kids' conversation in episode 1... There's more to the apple than that.
icarus-daedelus said:
Everything in this thread could be on shit otaku say.

I thought the apple thing in pengu drumu was a reference to Night on the Galactic Railroad? IIRC that's what they were discussing in the first episode.

I could be wrong, though, and I honestly have no idea what the apple actually symbolized in NOTGR. :lol
Apple speculah makes it very easy to go biblical! :lol

Now we just need somebody to greenlight a pengu movie for $20 million dollars to really let the fabulousness fly.
But it doesn't seem to be about lesbian penguins! :(

Iroha ep 18
BEST EPISODE EVAR!!!! NAKO HNNNNGG!!!!!!

Nako perfect waifu material. Shy,hardworking, sexy face & body. Too bad there's no 'Nako' in real life.

Here's some dialogue from that episode that might help:
Dios: She [Anthy] sacrificed herself to save her beloved Prince.
Dios: Even though she was the only one who truly loved the Prince...
Dios: And what's more, the Prince who loved her was no longer the Prince she knew, but instead...
Dios: he became the Ends of the World.

That's interesting, thanks :D

I don't think she is a true villain but lol, now it looks like she's manipulating everyone
Anyways who knows, Utena is an awesome rollercoaster

It's pretty late here so i will save the rest for tomorrow :D

MLP fans seem to have a bad track record in the Anime thread.

I'm next aren't I? :(

Hopefully Milk's ban wasn't a perm.

Suite Precure 21-23

Might as well see what they'll do with the new Precure. Still, a lot of the complaints I had with Suite remained, and it's not because it's not another Heartcatch either. Episode 23 being no different. I won't reiterate them, but I will say the Minor Trio needs to disappear fast.
