Kind of like my mention on the Tylor OVAs, this isn't the best thing to watch after coming hot off of the series. It was fun, but I feel as if I don't remember it as fondly as I could have because of that. I really have to stop that mess.

Sounds like the kind of thing you should do a re-watch of to see how you really feel about it. I'm not sure myself, I remember feeling that it was just "good".

Outstanding music, well-choreographed fights, beautiful scenery, and the same great dubbing as the series. What's not to like?

This has always been one of my favorite anime movies ever (and certainly my #1 favorite of the past decade), I think it's better than the majority of the tv series.

Yeah it's a very Spike-centric "episode." Which is fine because Spike is cool, though at the same time it'd be nice for Jet to have actually done something in the movie.

Here's a possibly little known fact. Most Gainax shows... were not made by Gainax! Gainax is such a lazy animation studio, that almost everything they worked on ever were co-productions with other studios doing heavy lifting and/or production work.

You think your favorite Gainax show is a real Gainax production? Think again!

This is where you are missing the point, i don't think you realize that the WHOLE series at any moment is designed to be a comedy, even when it goes all dark and srs, I'm pretty sure it's intentionally written to be funny, if only in a dark comedic sense.

i don't see how I'm missing the point I just don't think it's funny. I get weird humour, I found that shitty movie Very Bad Things more amusing. I get what they're trying to do and they suck at it, and the lame humour is just made worse by the creeping plot and the lackluster characters, excluding Ringo and alt Hitomi.
