I found out ABF doesn't.

I was thinking of either you or ABF but I thought it was more likely you didn't like it.
I don't like it based on the manga ending, I haven't actually watched it.

Now thanks to I9 and duckrolls recomendations I have added Iron Man, Invasion! Squid Girl, Angel Beats!, Heroman, Kiss x Sis, Toaru Majutsu no Index, To love Ru, and Amagami SS, to the top of my must watch list
Screw Utena
A great series like Angel Beats doesn't deserve to be on a list of bad anime like that... :( (Some people liked Squid Girl too, but I found it kind of boring)

Yuru Yuri 05's ending was disturbing.
Yeah, I agree, it was a bit disturbing. At least it was only a kiss.

Steroyd said:
Which part? Actually having Yuri in Yuru Yuri, or the dead moe eyes?
The 'dead eyes' thing was kind of disturbing, yes.

Mayo Chiki 5: Generic misunderstanding comedy/harem/dorama set up ahoy. Such a let down from the absurdity of the last couple of weeks.
It's reverting to type, shouldn't be too surprising unfortunately. (And as I said, if it continues in this direction, you peoples' "Mayo Chiki is better than R-15" case will fade won't it...)

Team Fukuda agrees.

HURRDURR-PINGUINDRUM 5:

Oh, sweet. Bunch of cool shit happens. LOL at
Himari-Pinguinhat giving Ringo the ass-chewing of her life.
Serious plot progression has occurred, keep it up Ikuhara! You have my attention! I wonder who it was that
gave Kanba the envelope full of money which was stamped with the PINGUINDRUM logo.
And what does all of this have to do with
the Kanba's Jilted-Boyfriends Club and it's leader, who shoots a bow that has a laser-sight (ROFL) loaded with PINGUINDRUM-BALLS?

The first 5 episodes of this show have been way better than the first 5 episodes of Utena, if for no reason other than limiting repeated animation only to when it's absolutely necessary awesome!

Mayo Chiki 5 - Episode's just about introducing a new girl to the harem basically, though there were a few chuckle-worthy moments. High hopes for the next episode though!

Does Aniplex/Bandai only put their anime on sale on their own site and Rightstuf? Their shipping is outrageous compared to AMZN PRM. I really wanted to preorder the Blue Exorcist DVD, and it even comes with a poster, nice.

Sacred Seven ep 5
tumblr_lpaqyg0JfJ1qhx33no1_500.jpg

2nd best episode thus far. It was so mindblowing. The power to cut with precision, the scarf is so cool and the sword bent all out of shape in directions and stuff, epic especially when they showed how close it came to Ruri! This show has gone from good to great for me!

Well, since there are 10 days left to vote in that 2010 anime thread, I figured I should finish off my 2010 backlog, including anime I started but did not finish.

The Tatami Galaxy
Princess Jellyfish
Katanagatari
You are Umasou
Shiki
Welcome to the Space Show
House of Five Leaves
Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin
Sora no Woto

Well, I'm sure I can finish 9 shows in 10 days...

Why you hurt me so bad, Japan? I don't even want this cover art in my library, but the completionist inside of me compels me. Fuck.

And, to note, it's out for those who were waiting. It's a pretty standard op track, but it is so catchy. The b-side is some generic glitterpop.

Sacred Seven 05

Rockgirl is funny, scarf-cutting action is cool. Glad the plot's moving next episode, though.

Mawaru Penguindrum 05

Juri finally shows up! She's called Natsume in this one, and can erase memories. I can dig it.

Liked seeing Ringo get chewed out. Penguin 1 getting patched up and wearing bandages was too cute.

Oh, and the truck chase. How do I put it...

You can do Umasou and Space Show easily as they're only films. All the others except Rainbow and Shiki are 11-12 episodes, so that's 5 hours a piece - and you've already watched some of the episodes so they won't be that long (and you can skip OPs and EDs to shave off half an hour per series perhaps!). And since Rainbow hasn't been completely subbed there's probably no point in you making the effort with that one...

firehawk12 said:
I can't remember if you hated "moe no aware" or not. If you do, then you might as well skip this one.
But if you don't, finish it, because it's 2010's best anime! :)

Could any of us here agree entirely on what's a bad show though?

cajunator said:
Today on a whim I picked up Sacred Blacksmith and Disgaea.
Gonna check those out after I finish up Eden of the East.
Sacred Blacksmith is pretty bad... the main character girl is so annoyingly useless. The show does get a little better later on, but there's so much awful "watch the useless girl who keeps trying to fight but fails miserably and always needs to be rescued by the guy" stuff I can watch before I drop the series forever... so yeah, I didn't get anywhere near the end of the series.

From what I read of the manga, though, that version's actually better... and given that she does improve some as the series progressed it's too bad that the anime stops where it does, if they were actually making her more functional and less useless.

I, though, would rather just watch Slayers again.

No, but I'm afraid the bolded doesn't inspire confidence in me.

And it looks like firehawk thinks the same thing... unfortunately I don't trust him either!

I don't see any interest in Nyanpire, Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi , or Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel in this thread.

Which I am very okay with.

I'm watching Twin Angel though, and have posted about every episode. It's so bad that I'd think that more people here would be watching it... :) (Really, it's bad. Stupid and bad, and only rarely successful at being funny. Most of the time it just fails and does whatever it's trying to do that episode poorly.)

Oh, and I'm watching Nyanpire too. It's okay. Not watching that other one, though. Geneijin says it's even worse than Twin Angel.

Yeah, both of us have that as the best anime in 2010, but I believe that it's also the only thing our two lists have in common, the other nine on each list don't even show up on the other one... ... No, both also have House of Five Leaves (though in different spots). But the other eight are different.

Penguin Drum 5

Ah man so much crazy stuff happening this episode.
Kanba's connection to the penguin logo organization is pretty interesting. Not exactly sure what's going on there, at the very least he has some association with them and perhaps is using them to help find the Drum. Anyway the truck chase at the end of the episode was awesome.

I think Mayo Chiki is more "cleverly" stupid in that it achieves the cheese without relying on droll gimmicks.

The Tatami Galaxy 3

Watashi needs to stop blaming Ozu for his problems, his naiveté is a much bigger reason for them.

And Akashi is awesome.

Kon'nichiwa Anne: Before Green Gables - Episode 39 (END)

cgVSH.png

Now the dark part of her life is over! It was an nice anime, I hope we will seen new stuff from Nippon Animation soon.

JANra.jpg

Some story inconsistency between Before Green Gables and Anne on Green Gables but just minor things.

Dantalian 04

Did not see that coming.
Interesting play on both soul exchange and reviving the dead. How the two united into one being to avenge their torture was chilling. I was hoping for another fight scene, the first episode was so epic because of the dragon battle.

Awww, the last shot of the anime is the first shot of the original Anne?

You read into these things waay too much, firehawk.

Just relax and let it come to you.

Firehawk12 would clearly enjoy (good) shows more if he didn't over-analyze every second of them, especially when he hasn't even gotten all the pieces of the puzzle yet! i dunno i feel a lot of your problems with the series (firehawk12) are clearly deliberate, and something that will only be a issue depending on how the series progresses with time.

Good shows are meant to be read though, otherwise, what's the point?

Sure, maybe that kind of thing can come when you actually finish watching them!

TV doesn't work that way, which is why "live" TV is vastly more interesting to me than watching something after the fact. I mean, you can "force" yourself to watch one episode a week, but I don't have that kind of self-control. :lol

Enjoy the ride first and analyse later. That's the Gurren-Lagann way!
I read stuff as I watch it unfortunately. It's why I enjoy watching shitty anime comedies actually... my brain goes out the window.

The Idolm@ster 5 - Beach episode was beach episode. I thought the twins were the best part, spraying Iori with their water guns.

Gotta say, Chihaya's been growing on me lately. At first I thought "all that matters to me is singing" would be her gimmick like being being easily terrified is Yukiho's, but her motivations seem to be a little deeper and more grounded.

Miki was great as always.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! 5 - It feels like it's been forever since I've actually watched lolis play basketball.

Why do you do this to me, ABF!?

The Tatami Galaxy 4

You'd think someone would bail from that club as soon as it became obvious it was nothing but being Higuchi's slave.

Indeed.

What, the truth about Mayo Chiki's too hard to take?

... Did you watch ep. 5 yet, if you needed proof?

Steroyd said:
The first condition should be "A show that A Black Falcon likes".

That should be a screening process of 95%. :P
That's not true, you know better... though I don't know what kinds of shows you like.

More clever? How so? Bits of it are clever, but only bits. A lot of the time it's standard harem fare. And without gimmicks? No, I disagree. Apart from the "standard harem" aspect of the show, which seems to be growing if episode 5 is any indication, I'd call the masochism aspect of the show a gimmick for sure, as far as shows like this go... Mayo Chiki has that, R-15 has more fanservice and has censor bars.

Usagi Drop 5

Masako would've made a horrible parent, thank goodness Daikichi is raising Rin, instead. Too bad it seems like she's not going away anytime soon.

Also, wonder how uncommon child and parents having different last names is?

Gonna watch PenguinDrum 5 sometime tonight, and I hope Rock Over Japan shows up after it's disappointing absence last week.

I have good news for you there...

The best part is Ringo and Shoma are in it this time, since Kanba is busy with other things at the time. Ringo's part is hilarious too, first she gets the verbal equivalent of a beatdown from Himari-Pinguinhat, then she run up there and triggers the next crucial series of events in the story.

I dunno, R-15 is just a series of sex gags repeated over and over again - guy pervs out to some random event, his best friend BLs for a moment, tsundere girls kick him around, etc. It's perfectly functional, but there isn't the spark of inspired and calculated cynicism in it like there is in Mayo Chiki or Infinite Stratos. If anything, it's a lot like Sora no Otoshimono in terms of just being pervy for the sake of trying to illicit laughs.

Bunny Drop 5

Rin's mom may just be more immature than she is! Kids having kids.

The animation in the post-ED scene was pretty incredible.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood 57/58

All I can say about the ending of both these episodes is....
GODAMMIT!

Tomorrow, I will finish the series off by watching episodes 59-64

I hope the final batch of episodes don't disappoint
